I mean come on, we both agree that we are just going to rig the everliving F out of this election so Harris wins in a landslide anyway, but he's making our job a heck of a lot easier.

September 11, 20241 yr Just now, Gannan said: Trump's lies are so huge that no journalist worth their salt can get let him away with them. This isn't like Al Gore claiming he saved social security, or George W. Bush saying his tax cuts benefitted everyone equally. These are gigantic huge lies that are not in any way connected to realty. If it were really true that Minnesota makes it legal to just kill babies after their born if you feel like it with no consequences what so ever....that would be a pretty freaking big news story not to mention one of the most horrific atrocities of all time. In order to have a serious, rational debate there has to be at least some agreement on the nature of reality...what is really real and what only exists in Trump's dementia riddled brain. Harris made one demonstrably incorrect statement when she claimed that unemployment was at its peak since the Great Depression when she and Biden took office. It peaked in 2020 but had dropped to like ~6.5% by the inauguration. Trump, on the other hand, legitimately lied the entire time. So, the bias claims are a pretty ridiculous. The moderators let like 95% of Trump's lies go. Also, if you're whining about the refs...you didn't have a good night.

It was just rednecks in Alabama, and iirc Trump came out against it when they did it. However, overturning Roe paved the way for it, so he's complicit. By that point though, she was rolling and he was drowning already.
September 11, 20241 yr "Concepts of a plan" was just amazing. This was always the risk for the Trump campaign. Most people hadn't been paying attention to his rallies, podcast interviews, etc. So the RNC (on a smaller scale) and the debates were the times that a wider audience got to see him. Biden's enfeebled performance in June made Trump look strong by comparison, and he actually managed not to go unhinged and just let Biden drown. But at the convention he went crazy, and last night his brain melted down on live television. Trump being a lunatic and imbecile wasn't surprising to anyone who pays attention, but last night was shocking for those that haven't been paying attention. Watching Harris bait him time and again into going insane was almost sad. I really thought someone from his campaign would have called in a bomb threat after the first 45 minutes.

September 11, 20241 yr GOP donors were already shifting their focus to taking the Senate, and I am guessing that accelerates. A couple large donors I know are all-in on Senate candidates (Montana in particular) to try and make sure there is a GOP Senate to balance Harris. They're out on Trump and the RNC.

I learned something interesting this morning. In these venues, they disable the fire alarm pull boxes to prevent people from using them to stop the debate.
September 11, 20241 yr Quote 1. Talking about Project 2025 as if it were Trump’s manifesto, and saying that he will pass a nationwide abortion ban 2. Dredging up Trump’s Charlottesville comment – that there were "very fine people on both sides" – which has been debunked 3. Saying Trump had overseen the worst unemployment since the Great Depression, which was caused by the pandemic 4. Saying Donald Trump has opposed IVF 5. Denying that Kamala Harris ever called for gun confiscation (there are videos of her doing just that) 6. Saying that Trump’s tax cuts only helped rich people 7. And my special bete noir – saying that she and Biden have "created" 800,000 manufacturing jobs, which is simply not true. Above are the seven "lies" that Fox contributor Liz Peek asserts Harris made last night. A couple of these things are just flat out wrong as she said no such thing. A couple are items she did some spin on but didn't lie. I don't see any of them falling into a situation where a fact check would have meant the Mods called her out unless it was #7 but I don't remember that part of the exchange so I have no idea.

This one is just hilarious Quote 3. Saying Trump had overseen the worst unemployment since the Great Depression, which was caused by the pandemic So, it's true but you feel the need to put a caveat on it, so it...should've been fact checked? If that's the case, then Trump should've been fact checked on inflation, since it was also caused by the pandemic.
