TBH it’s an optics failure on Biden not to be more public with the aid. People don’t pay attention to the details. You have to make a show while things take time to spool up.

I spent the afternoon cleaning up the yard, but no, not really.  But even if I was I certainly wouldn’t have spent my day griping about the government’s response to it two days into the debacle.  It takes communities 10-15 years to recover from weather events like this.

Yes. Barrier islands were evacuated and remained closed until the weekend in the Tampa/Bradenton area. They're only letting residents with tags back on the islands from dawn to dusk.

I just finished emptying out a canal house that had about a foot of water in it from the storm surge. As of last night, emergency services started restoring power way too early to my sister-in-law's house and the house caught fire and burned down.

The biggest issues aren't supplies or people being stranded in a disaster area with nothing. People evacuated when they were told to. The problem is getting the 3 feet of sand removed from literally everywhere and everything on the islands. It's all become one large beach.
