Spike eskin actually made a good point on his pod. harrell was going to opt into his contract as nobody else in the league wanted him. So I’m guessing the Sixers told him if he opts out they’ll still put him on the roster, but they could manipulate his contract so that his cap number wouldn’t reflect what they’re actually paying him. He went on into it on their podcast about how it worked.
