So many teams want those back up Centers.

Harris gonna be pissed when they don't get home court in the first round for that extra cash

Probably what he wants.

But I feel like this is the same thing I said a couple weeks ago. their plan was we’re gonna run it back in 23-24 with the main core (unless they get a star package in a trade) with Nick nurse and see where the chips fall. Likely not good enough still. But when the season is over they will have a ton of cap space and flexibility for the 2024 off-season. it would be the first time since 2019 when they signed Al Horford and extended Tobias and Ben Simmons that they would have that type of flexibility and cap. I 100% that’s the plan and what was sold to Joel Embiid.

that said, I think there’s a more significant chance it doesn’t work and blows up in their face. But I’m guessing they view it as a better way then trying to build up a 23-24 roster that they likely believed wasn’t good enough even if they added 1-2 pieces

i dont believe the haliburton one

You don't want to be. They both will ask for extensions and barely play at this point. Kawhi's quad is done and would bet money it is atrophing.

Any GM can say oh I wanted Cam and tried to move into the 1st to get him. Like just stop Morey

They didn't want to throw in Thybulle and/or other pieces for Haliburton

Keep the firsts, just do Mann and Powell. Get a starter and a 6th man bench scorer.

I wouldn't especially Kawhi. He just had his torn meniscus surgery on top of quad injury and ACL tear.

Team doesnt know when he wants to play, when he was getting that ACL surgery, heck they didn't know he needed surgery, his rehab. He is the top of the food chain prima donna.

I’d guess morey and the sixers they don’t want Powell as he has three years at $54 million left. If they take on Powell it decreases some of their  flexibility and cap in the 2024 season.

I’d add you’d be doing the clippers a favor because they put out there just before free agency they wanted to unload Powell due to second apron and financial implications. So they’d help the clippers taking powell’s contract and hurt their cap flexibility in 2024. I’m guessing they’d want to be compensated for doing such as they likely think mann is mandatory in any harden trade anyway.

It’s more realistic they’d want Covington, Mann, morris/batum and a pick(s) for harden as it keeps their 2024 flexibility and cap open. Likely not getting a pick or picks unless they are like swaps or second rounders

I think their ultimate goal in the 2024 off-season is to get Pascal Siakam.  I think it makes embiid happy

In that case Clippers can go pound sand. Do not want Powell without picks and Mann. Rather they just let Harden walk after year end in that case.

I was going to mention Whitmore won some league MVP because he was one of the guys I was dating I would actually trade Maxey for to get a top 7 pick.

I figured I'd let it go. But now it's relevant.  Interesting that the 6ers were interested. Not surprised they failed.

I still say Harden for Siskam, Harris for LaVine. Instant contender.

the week before the harden situation blew up, was a report the clippers (someone made the mistake of leaking out) they wanted someone to take on Powell’s contract due to financial implications of the second apron.

Powell’s contract isn’t a bad contract for what he is especially with cap going up. the issue is the sixers want as much flexibility and cap as possible for the 2024 offseason. That’s pretty obvious part of their plan. You could trade powell next off-season but you would have to do it before free agency so you would have maximum space going into FA. I think teams would know that and team with the space just to take on that contract will ask for some sort of asset to just take on the salary otherwise have to match salary to do it.

Powell the player would be a solid addition. Powell’s contract makes it harder to have the flexibility and cap they want to go into the 2024 offseason. And the clippers putting out they wanted someone to take him on due to second apron implications.

I'm starting to hate morey more than harden at this point

I find it funny Morey thinks he can sell the line that Haliburton was never made available, when Haliburton did get traded afterwards. He was obviously available. And Haliburton himself said he thought he was traded to the 76ers.

I also find it hilarious that Morey has accumulated 5 centers as if he has these trade chips in a league that doesnt really value centers.

Its crazy to me that he talks about not looking at the roster in July. Which can be true. When you see a good GM like Howie making late moves and in season moves and having success. But then, the 6ers have been making trade deadline moves for years and continue to come up short and Always follow that with the excuse that they havent had enough time together. One of these years Morey ought to try having the team completely assembled in time for the season. Not with just 20 games left to go.

Right now he is relying on a coaching change to be the difference that takes them to the next level, but the fact is that the roster has gotten worse. Niang wasnt very good. But he has left and wasnt replaced. He traded Thybulle (a 1st round pick), and another pick for McDaniels who we allowed to walk out the door a half a season later. And he also was not replaced. We have let two rotation players go, and only signed vet min guys at different positions.

Lastly, handing Petrusev a spot on the roster when he has shown no improvement is dumb. He should have been here developing. But he wasnt. Thats one mistake. Now its compounded by giving him a real contract on the roster when hes clearly not ready. Tubelis did nothing to earn a 2 way contract. There were 2 or 3 players who did way more to earn it. And Council looks promising but is far from ready as well.

This has been another horrible offseason. Morey wants the benefit of the doubt, telling us to be patient. Hes done nothing to earn it. Last time Philly exercised extreme patience with him (mainly because we loved seeing Ben suffer), he made the wrong trade out of the numerous options that were presented to him. And thats already blowing up in his face. Not only because Harden was washed, but because its also going to end ugly.

The it's only July thing is hilarious to me. Teams spent the first 10 days of the month building their rosters, making moves, and finding a team that works.

They aren't going to blow it up for a guy that has demanded three trade requests now and one a one year deal.
