That's just silly.

And another tush push fail

Colts looking pathetic on the shove play lmao

Minshew: "I squat too” 😂

Alright, where does Jimbo Fisher end up? Does he get another Power 5 job or does he go the route of Gus Malzahn and end up at some AAC school.

Don't really care about SF/Jacksonville. SF likely won't be able to catch us.

Detroit/LAC is THE game that matters.

Always rooting against the Saints for the pick. And against the Cowboys because I like to watch them burn.

Im pretty sure he is a really strong though QB though, which helps to shows how critical execution is on this play, it's not just about strength

What a dreadful coach James Franklin is!

They have a good OL too

Minshew has no touch at all on his passes.

Harbaugh goes to NFL and Jimbo slides in at Michigan possibly?

I heard his buyout is something like 70 or 80 million.  Crazy all the money that is being handed out when these guys get fired.  Such a waste.

The following is going to trigger the sometimes condescending knowledge base of the blog with some "it’s not that simple, doesn’t work that way, you don’t understand” responses.  And perhaps I’m pushing too hard in the other direction to prove a point, but it still is worth saying:

The media, the fans, perhaps even the coaches are over-mystifying the slot cb position.  People are making it sound like the most difficult and critical position on defense.  Are there nuances that make it different from outside cb?  Of course.  BUT…there is also a reason that the third best cb traditionally mans the slot.  There are rocked up safeties who play up at the LOS who function in this role at times.  If a cb is "long legged and struggles with quickness,” then that’s going to be a problem outside too.  Our secondary has not fallen into the abyss simply due to the inevitable annual injury to Maddox, who wasn’t exactly a total stud in the first place.  The depth at the cb position is a collection of udfas who are not prepared to play nfl football.  And the starting safeties / outside cbs leave a lot to be desired.  It’s a global DB talent/quality problem…not the lack of someone who "fits” in the slot.

Organizational philosophy.  It’s not by pure accident that 2002 was the last time the Eagles went DB in the first round of the draft.  Slay and Bradberry are both trade/FA acquisitions because the Eagles have whiffed badly when they used second round draft picks at DB.  Since Sheppard and Brown in 2002 it’s been Jarrett, Rowe, Sidney Jones — no return at all on investment.

The Eagles play defense by disrupting the QB, first and foremost.  The money and resources go to DL, and everything else from a personnel standpoint is "best they can get”

Also depends on who on offense is lined up in the slot.  Last week they had Lamb in the slot matched against Sydney Brown at times.  Didn't end well.  Matchups matter as well.  If you have a quick, twitchy guy in the slot you need a defender to match those traits.  A bigger, stronger but much slower guy in the slot you can get away with using a safety or a CB like Bradberry.

Pats are absolutely terrible

Slot CB is a different position than outside CB. This is not a new phenomenon either. Because slot CBs have safety help, while outside CBs often don't, you need more quickness than speed.

It's hard to be upset when the Eagles are playing slot CB #4.

Really think Howie messed up by not bringing in another secondary player. Kenny Moore was mentioned as a trade target, the guy had 2 INT return TD's last week. Sheil K. had a disparaging stat on Byard. This year has has over 300 defensive snaps and hasn't gotten his hand on the ball one time. I still think it was a very solid move but that is concerning.

howie can't make every fans trade happen. takes 2 parties to make it happen and if he feels the trade is to lopsided the trigger doesn't get pulled.

Of course. I'm saying the Eagles obviously work on this play a lot, and other teams attempt to run it without putting the time in to perfect it. The Giants immediately come to mind, they tried to run it in a game without practicing it at full speed.

Besides Mailata, has a player ever been drafted into the NFL without ever playing a snap of American football at any level?
