Team has played well but the offense still looks weird and clunky. Even the running game isn’t working very well and this offense is so much better when they can establish the run. Which pretty much never happened last season, they always had that to work off of

I mean brown was never going to get over there in time from center field

But the fact that he was in Centerfield makes the play by Edmunds even worse.

Yup.  Maybe he shouldn’t have been lined up in no man’s land.  Too far to help with Hill and really not close enough to help underneath on the other side of the field.

On the Lane Johnson sack, Gainwell stayed into block and they got pressure fairly quickly.

So it's their 7 defenders against our 4 players in routes. Unless we out-scheme Fangio, have to find that 1 on 1 matchup quickly. We didn't. Sack.

No man has ever needed a fade more than this one

That's exactly why we can't take those risks. We don't have the safeties for it and we paid the price. If Bradberry is giving cushion there, he's at least got a prayer against Hill, but when he's even with Hill from the snap, he's dead in the water before the play even starts.

Well... I'll still take my chances and rip into Edmunds.  Giving too much cushion is just begging to get beat with easy throws.   There's no perfect answer, but the deeper stuff needs more to go right for them.   The short stuff being wide open means that the pass rush has no chance to impact Tua.

Not against a go. He was there for a post. Somehow we let the only route that would kill us there kill us.

Gainwell is basically a 4th RB that they use as a 2. Just terrible on the front office who dictate this stuff.

I know he’s become a bit of an NFL darling but I don’t like him.

I met him at a wedding a while back. Dude got HAMMERED. Seemed like a nice enough guy though.

If there was more field to work with you could conceivably think Edmonds should have been playing an in breaking route while Brown would be expected to range over top.

But there wasnt enough field for that to be the case. That pass didnt need much air under it. Theyd run out of field. As such, theres not time for a single high safety to get all the way over there.

Edmonds may have done the right thing based on the play call. But it might have been a dumb play call for that area of the field.

Or, Edmonds was wrong as it appears.

This is just how it’s going to be with the offense this year.  Hurts will make some huge downfield plays for quick strikes and then he’ll take stupid sacks and turnovers behind the LOS.  Hair yanking red zone play calling with some beautifully designed wrinkles sprinkled in.

That’s the 2023 offense.

I'm not a fan or retiring numbers, been discussed numerous times on here.

However, seeing #17 roam the middle of the field as a MLB seems all sorts of wrong. How do you let that number stay in circulation but 25, 9, 87 are seemingly untouchable?

Brown did the right thing.   Edmunds was beat.   Why are we even discussing Brown?   He was the single high safety.   Edmunds was the bracket.  Edmunds screwed up, plain and simple.

They should try Penny next week. They have absolutely nothing to lose.

Looks like he was expecting Hill to make a cut and slant inside.

Edmunds was also poorly positioned to take an inside slant away.

Looks like a guy who would get hammered at a wedding.

All I can do is laugh…I know it’s not easy, but these coordinators just have too many bonehead moments for this team to be a serious contender right now.

With Waddle out, you simply cannot, under ANY circumstances give up that play to Hill.

I mean, let literally anyone else beat you.

More the defensive alignment…Brown was essentially a bystander on the play.

Yeah? Ok fair enough. Maybe it’s just his awkwardness that seems a little bit out of place.

Oh look halftime and they still can’t help but mention Taylor Swift.

Even though we should be up more, I'd absolutely take being up 7, while having run 14 more plays than them. We can wear them down in the 2nd half.

If Waddle is out, we'll just cloud-cover Hill the rest of the game. Put a S over the top and make someone else beat us.

That makes sense.
