Nice point with the Niners down the road.

Mcvay also from Shanahan tree, he was Shanahan’s QB coach in Washington. We shut that guy down a few weeks ago. Their lowest score of the season (they scored 23 on SF and didn’t have Kupp).

Not really. If you can upgrade the position while adding depth you do it

This was his third start.

Seems like he has all year. I guess Evans started earlier but he’s on IR. Point remains.

Not to get too far ahead of ourselves, but if that Saints 2nd rounder stays high, I could see Howie trading our first for a future first and some later picks, and we end up with another Jalen Carter situation down the line.

You are way ahead of yourself. 😆

yeah. sure. But that position isnt nearly top on the list of priorities if we are being sensible. Couple other bigger needs.

I like Brown long term, but he hasn’t even been able to beat out Evans or Edmonds yet.

I think that would be a great decision....but...I'd want to offset it by getting a higher upside type player with first round talent with that Saints pick and trading some meaningful value out of their mid round picks (which should be somewhat bolstered by generous comp picks) for a quality vet to step right in.  Then you still get the upside from the 2024 draft, immediate boost from the vet, and the future picks.

Sure it is. Evans is out. We're down a safety

I put that more on the coaching staff consistent with some of their other inexplicable idiotic personnel decisions. Dont think its accurate to say he hasnt been able to. I just think they havent given him the opportunity.

Dr. ESP has spoken guys. Hurts is fine.

ok so if they can trade for another backup thats fine but something tells me you wont be happy with that. Everyone is acting like we need a starter. Which is dumb.

Looking forward to seeing the snap counts for the entire defense.

What are bigger needs? I could see backup RT, sure. But if you are going to say RB when we don’t even let Penny dress then can’t agree there.

We need to get DeVonta rolling now too.

Great win. And one I honestly wasn’t confident in. Now let’s get this blog back where it belongs! :phil:

We need a starter. Not dumb. You can't rely on a rookie who hasn't been a picture of health himself to carry the D to the promise land. Not really fair to him

I'm really curious to see the breakdown in snaps at slot CB and the all-22 footage.  I know I'm basically simping for Ricks at this point but still I'm really excited at what he did today.  That was a massive hole to plug in this defense and he plugged it against arguably the best offense in the NFL.

100% agreed. Ricks played VERY well.

At safety...long term Brown and Blankenship might be it.  Short term, they need a starter because it seems they aren't ready to crown Brown.  And immediate term, aka 6 days from now, they need 2 starters because I'm not sure how ready Blankenship is to play a full game and if that dude can stay healthy.

CB is the one where I want starters.  I really think Bradberry and Slay are hanging on by a thread.  There is no nickel.  Jobe doesn't deserve to be in the conversation.  Ricks and Ringo...sure, maybe, I don't know.  It's crazy to think they don't need at least 2 long term starting CBs, one outside and one inside, that aren't presently on the roster.

Regardless of how we felt about him predraft or long term, there is something stopping the coaches from playing him right now over Edmunds/Evans.
