It looked that way after 2 games but games 3-6, the dbacks have been the better team in 3 of 4 of those games. It’s why they’ve won 3 of 4. Can say Thomson helped contribute which is true but the dbacks have taken advantage of it. Phillies have had chances where dbacks manager screwed up and just haven’t done it.

I look at it this way, I would bet dbacks are gonna be loose tomorrow. They are essentially playing with house money. No one expected them to come back from 0-2 or win 2 in Philly. So if they lose it’s what many thought they’d do. The pressure is entirely on the Phillies. Expected to win the series. Up 3-2 coming home. Up 2-0. All this isn’t good when you guys are coming up to the plate and just trying to hit home runs to win games. When the Phillies are at their best, it’s not that they’re just hitting home runs. They have good at bats and it leads to good swings and contact. For 2 out of the last 4 games it’s been ugly. 

I think today they were the better team, but every other game Phillies have been better, but just didn’t take advantage. Game 3 I could switch my stance on but it’s not like the Diamondbacks did much to look inspiring by winning 2-1 in a walkoff.

Byard makes sense with an adjustment to his 2024 contract.  Given it has no guarantee money, makes sense to negotiate for Byard.  Figure after the bye, he should be fully ready. Must mean Blankenship is close to ready for this week with the Edmunds trade.

But that’s how the Diamondbacks have played all year. If you haven’t watched the Diamondbacks, you’d be like oh man, the Phillies play kind of even with them and just didn’t take advantage of the situation. That’s most of the dbacks win this year. The 11-2 beat down of the dodgers is less of who they are. The close games is how they generally win.

I would say this about game 3, the Phillies had three hits all game. They had one hit after the third inning. The Diamondbacks had 9. The phillies bullpen lived on the edge all game and got burned by it eventually. The dbacks bullpen besides the 7th was actually really good. The Phillies were getting fortunate on a lot of balls in play. It felt like they escaped danger every inning once Ranger was removed. Game 4, the dbacks were better the first 3 innings of that game. Really the phillies were better innings 4-6. But the last 3 innings, the dbacks had more timely hits, better at bats and their back end of their bullpen was lights out in the 8th and 9th. 

Purdy weak arm.

I know a few people here like to wallow in negativity but the Eagles are the best team in the NFC even with their flaws.  They just are. Deal with it

Last season has directly impacted fan perception of this year’s team. Different year, different team. People just assumed this team is going back to the World Series because they got there last year. Watching the team all season it’s clear something wasn’t quite right with this team. The offense looked off for more of the season than it looked on. But when they’re on they’re so hot that it makes people forget how bad they look when they’re off. The team had been mistake prone all season. Bad on the base paths. Inconsistent and home run reliant. Bad with RISP.

Even in the playoffs some of the games they won they didn’t look quite as dynamic as last season. Like last year there was that game they went down 4-0 early vs the Padres and came back and blew them out. There is no chance in hell this year’s team is capable of that. This year’s team never looked as good as last year to me. I always thought they could lose this series. And on top of that, the manager is showing for the second year in a row he has no urgency whatsoever to make any changes or adjustments.

Ive seen and heard so many people say this year’s team is clearly better than last year and I never felt that way at all.
