Stuff like that is really good for the city.

It's a nice bond that you don't see a lot of in other cities. I think Trout showing up at Eagles games over the years was always cool too. Castellanos at the Eagles game Sunday, Cox and Kelce at game 6 last night, etc. Good community vibes. October has been a really fun time for the sports teams the past two years. I've enjoyed it.

It's kind of weird that I trust Ranger Suarez more than the bats tonight.

I don’t trust any of them. I’ve seen this before with the 2011 and 2010 Phillies where they were favorites in both of those series. managed to complete the letdown at home in a big situation.

I get it, but it's not fair to compare this team to those of 12-13 years ago when it's different teams. There's no constant despite the superstition.

I’ve watched enough Phillies baseball over the years to know usually when they keep an inferior team in a series and don’t take care of business when given chances they usually wind up in the wrong side of history. No offense the team 12-13 years ago was better from an overall talent standpoint then this team and managed to lose a series they shouldn’t have. Heck 2011 might have been the greatest collection of talent the Phillies ever had and arguably best regular season they’ve had. Yet similarly an inferior team got them.

Yep.  The 100+ win Halladay, Lee, Hamels, Oswalt team may have been the most talented team in Phillies history - at least on paper.  And unfortunately, like you said, they lost series that they should have won by keeping less talented teams in the games.

Yep, I get it. But inferior teams get better teams in sports all the time. The Phillies were an inferior team to the Braves and the Diamondbacks were inferior to the Dodgers. I just don't get using past history as an indicator of future outcomes when the pieces aren't the same. It'd be like saying Hurts will never win a Super Bowl because McNabb always came up short.

The issue also stems we have an idiot backup catcher talking about celebrating in the pool after game 2. Instead of being focused on task at hand and not saying anything. Just handle your business then go do it if you win. Feels like this team lost focus in game 3 and gave the dbacks momentum. Then i think last night they thought the dbacks would roll over and die after losing game 5. Doesn’t help this team is caught up in just hitting homers. If they don’t hit 2 or more they have a hard time winning. They are trying to hit homers instead of good at bats where homers will come.

Alright nancies, time to put your big boy pants on again.  Let's go win this mo fo!!

And Braves fans were saying going into that series they were afraid of the Phillies due to the recent past and just the Phillies being a thorn in their side in big spots. Can say the past doesn’t have any outcome on todays game. But those fans in that stadium remember those games and if the Phillies fall behind or it looks dire will change the atmosphere in that stadium or be tight. This team tends to feed off the home crowd energy. If it turns or looks dire it could wind up with that crowd giving them none. If i were them i suggest getting ahead early and continue to take onto a lead

That is so far down on the list of reasons they are in this situation. The manager gave them the momentum game 3 putting the kid into that situation. Big K made it worse. They had them on the ropes Friday and he f'ing did it again with the same two people who blew it the night before. Everyone but him saw it coming. He has no feel for the damn game sometimes.

The DBacks made a chess move to take out Harper and Schwarber and have won 3 out of 4 games implementing that plan. Yes, they got them Saturday, but for the most part it has worked. A-hole Robby T doesn't make a move to counter. He watched the same damn thing happen last year vs Houston and it didn't work, so the dumb F is doing it again. He is the f'ing reason they have let this team stay in this. He blew the damn series in fact. HIM. Players have to play but he f'ed it all away. Not the backup catcher running his mouth. His bad decisions....his lack of counter strategy....it's on him.

This is correct, and a big reason why they will lose tonight.  No adjustments, and  being cocky enough to believe they will get by on just their talent.

Down the list. But it shows lack of respect for your opponent and it showed on the field with their lack of focus. Thomson has had a brutal series as a manager. And compounding it by being stubborn. I said this over on the Phillies thread, the current lineup they are using, they only used 6 times in the second half of the year and less than 10 for the season. So playoffs start and they decided to go with it. I hate that cause guys like stott and bohm don’t look comfortable where they are. Add on stott on the year is hitting .218 in the 5 holes. You know what his numbers are in 6 and 7? .357 and .353. Bohm wasn’t awful in the 4 hole this year at .253 but he was best utilized in 5 or 7 hole where he hit .277 and .321. Additionally realmuto this series should be batting 4th. He’s destroyed the dbacks in the 13 games they’ve played them this year. He’s hitting .326 (14-43) with 3 hrs and 12 RBIs.

Also I hate when people say it’s panic if you change the lineup. The Fing Phillies change their lineup almost every week throughout the course of the season. So that’s normal. Heck, the Diamondbacks changed it in the course of the series twice. And it helped them. This whole oh, you can’t do it cause of panic is a myth. It’s knowing what’s going on and giving guys who are hitting the most potential at bats not the worst.

It would suck if they lose but those calling it one of the biggest chokes in philly sports would be way wrong.  Losing a 2-0 lead where both wins were home games doesn't move the needle for me when it comes to decades of philly sports disappointments

Ok just put the work in for Howie for next years draft.  Looks like it will have to be Tra Fluellen if we're going to get another Safety from Middle Tennessee State

Which team is this?

I don't know if it would be #1 choke job but it would be pretty high up there.  Part of the choke was that it should have been 3-0 and then we aren't even having this discussion.

edit:  Also, losing games 6 and 7 at home when we have football homefield advantage.  This would be a really bad choke job...

For the Phillies it’s up there tbh. You had a 2-0 lead and blew it. Then had a 3-2 lead coming home with two chances to clinch at home with Nola on the mound and blow it. Against a team with inferior talent on top of it. It would be up there with one of the biggest choke jobs in Phillies history. I’d put 2011 ahead of this just cause that 2011 team might have been the best collection of talent in team history and an unbelievable regular season. The 64 Phillies might be the top one for the Phillies.

Yep, totally agree. It makes zero sense and honestly should be grounds for him being fired because it's the second year in a row he's done it. The fact you as a knowledgeable fan can pop those numbers off and the manager of the damn team doesn't act on them....is beyond understanding. It's also not a panic move if they make a chess move and you counter it. F him. They are going to lose tonight and he is the damn reason because his job is to put them in the best spot to win and he's doing the opposite.
