For the Phillies it’s up there tbh. You had a 2-0 lead and blew it. Then had a 3-2 lead coming home with two chances to clinch at home with Nola on the mound and blow it. Against a team with inferior talent on top of it. It would be up there with one of the biggest choke jobs in Phillies history. I’d put 2011 ahead of this just cause that 2011 team might have been the best collection of talent in team history and an unbelievable regular season.

I get that, but they were also playing a hot team with a few future HOF on it in a 5 game series. It was bad don't get me wrong...and still hurts to this day...but I can understand it. That's another a-hole stupid move by a manager. Charlie should have tanked that last game by resting the starters because letting that hot of a team in was stupid.

Yep, totally agree. It makes zero sense and honestly should be grounds for him being fired because it's the second year in a row he's done it. The fact you as a knowledgeable fan can pop those numbers off and the manager of the damn team doesn't act on them....is beyond understanding. It's also not a panic move if they make a chess move and you counter it. F him. They are going to lose tonight and he is the damn reason because his job is to put them in the best spot to win and he's doing the opposite.

Thomson deserves a lot of blame if they lose. Team has played sloppy in the first two games in Az. Bad decisions on who to put into games from the pen and situations. However, I do think some of these decisions with the lineup are not entirely in his hands. I think this also goes to the Phillies being an analytical organization. And they look at the numbers in late games and say we want the lineup constructed left, right, left, right left, right for the first six batters. so when it gets into a late game situation you get at least one at bat with a good matchup of lefty vs. right bat and vice versa. The issue is it only works if you have guys hitting at this point. When guys don’t hit it makes no difference lefty or righty.

that said as much blame as Thomson deserves turner and castellanos have been pretty bad lately. Castellanos is 0 for his last 19. And turner is 1 for his last 14. Stott and bohm haven’t been good at the plate but Turner and castellanos might be worse right now. Heck Rojas is having a better series hitting then castellanos.

Slay gets a lot of heat around here at times and many times, it’s plays like these he gets blamed for.

Should be interesting to see if Slay looks like an All-Pro again (all of a sudden) with the addition Byard.

That Phillies team had a HOFer in halladay, cliff lee who was a cy young winner, Roy oswalt who might be a a HOFer one day and Cole hamels who was an all star type pitcher. The cardinals had no business winning that series with that rotation and their. Might honestly be the best rotation in the last 20 years. pujols, molina and holiday were great players but Chris carpenter was the only one on that staff worth anything.  The Phillies couldn’t hit that series after game 1.  Edwin jackson and Jamie Garcia stifled them.

Carter is better than JH as a rookie.

Crazy.

The worst part about that since it's Cover 2 and the inside WR to the top doesn't threaten inside, there's no reason for Edmunds not to take a step or two to his left immediately to be level with Waddle.

Gonna hurt that comp pick

Average punter play? Will take that.

We had the worst 2 punters in the NFL in our training camp battle😅

Cliff Lee blew a 4-0 lead in game 2.  Does that make Lee a horrible pitcher?  No.  Sometimes aces have mediocre starts.  Which makes what Wheeler is doing exceptional.

Where did i make that the argument? Nola was due for a clunker. Kind of like wheeler is likely due kind of like last WS in game 2. Just like Ranger likely is considering how good he’s been since last postseason.

The issue with game 2 in 2011 was carpenter also gave up 4 runs in the first two innings. That doesn’t make him an horrible pitcher either. and the Phillies basically did what the Phillies bats are did last night after the first two innings. After those 4 runs in the first two innings, the Phillies scored 5 runs the next 34 innings of that series against Jamie Garcia, Edwin jackson and carpenter (he was legit good).

again Phillies had no business losing that series considering they had 4 Aces and the cardinals bats didn’t exactly light up the scoreboard. It was more after the second inning in game 2, the Phillies bars disappeared

I kind of hate this muppet mostly because he steals content from others.

This Phillies series feels a lot like the 2011 Cardinals series to me. They started off that series blowing them out game 1(this series game 2). Then after that the offense just looked off and really bad and they found ways to scratch together a win, but you could tell the bats were lost and gone and then of course in game 5 they got shutout. They can obviously change that by winning big tonight, but it feels like the lineup is in a collective slump right now. Even in game 5 it wasn't like the whole game they were teeing off. It was really just 3 individual ABs that gave them 4 of their 6 runs.

The thing is, it doesn't matter who is on the mound for Arizona, I don't trust the bats right now. Especially so if they're going to throw the Phillies a bunch of breaking stuff out of the zone. This team thrives against the fastball when they do thrive and right now they aren't getting any. At least not over the strike zone. It's throw them soft stuff, negate the home run.

Tbh they miss Rhys. Not just his hitting with RISP where he was .292 in 2022. But his approach and ability to grind at bats and wear on a pitcher so he got a mistake or perhaps the guy behind him got a mistake. Generally he forced pitchers to battle every at bat. He usually gets 6-8 pitch at bats. There’s guys up there right now that are lucky if they get to a 4th pitch.

Gonna guess Bills, Chiefs, Ravens, Lions

One thing I really like about Carter’s play here, is the control he shows, in slowing immediately and tapping Tua and not clobbering him, costing us big yards.

It was a big loss and going into this winter their biggest need is a middle of the order bat if Hoskins isn't going to be back. They don't have a cleanup hitter. It's crazy they got this far without one.

There are 2 refs watching this false start and are just like f-it, close enough?

Jalen Carter should bat clean up tonight.  Problem solved.
