Alright let's get this over with.  It's not happening, so might as well be 1-2-3.  I don't need to see any bases loaded K's to end the season.

I barely watched the Phils all year. Being out of market makes it tough. I’ll sleep well either way tonight. Then again, I was over the Super Bowl loss fairly quickly 

If they somehow manage to get to Schwarber, he's getting intentionally walked and we'll watch Turner whiff on three dirt balls.

Upgrading the pen is a start.  The pen is icing on the cake.  You don't put major resources into it until the rest of the team is ready...but they are ready.

I think they need to protect themselves against a step back with Wheeler and a Nola departure, but I just don't know where the money will come from.  The prospects aren't going to be ready to help next year.

Rojas is a fun prospect and a great fielder, but a black hole in the lineup isn't acceptable.  There's just no way he saves enough runs in the field to justify it.  I guess he platoons next year, but he needs to earn that spot by hitting.  

It's just hard to time hot streaks well enough to win a WS.  The best team doesn't reliably win in baseball anymore.  Honestly, the only series that went the way it should was us beating the Marlins.  We shouldn't have beaten the Braves and the Dbacks shouldn't have beaten LA or us.  That's baseball I guess.

Need to find better starting pitching if nola is gone. Frankly i think he walks cause I’m not sure you can bring him back after game 6 and if he’d ever be the same here with the fans. Not that game 6 was entirely his fault. It wasn’t but fans will remember his performance in it up 3-2. Hamels they did after 09 and what he said during that series and how he looked but he also had just dominated the 08 playoffs. So if you let nola walk gotta replace him.

they also need multiple bullpen arms. Really dominguez, Hoffman and Alvarado are the only ones who are reliable right now. Orion can work out of the pen. Meaning need about 2-3 more arms to count on. 

lineup wise, gotta get a clean up hitter behind harper. Can’t have bohm. That’s not what he’s good at. Need someone with more protection that scares teams and allows for harper to get pitches to swing at more consistently in the playoffs.

That said... its not over yet.    They still have 3 outs to work with.   Is it likely?  No.   But... there's still a chance.

 

I still put so much of this on games 3 and 4 bullpen failing to throw strikes.  Series never even comes back to Philly.

The pitcher can throw 3 straight balls to 1st base and we strike out swinging.

They're getting pitches to hit which is doubly maddening.

Is this season going to end with Jake Cave at the plate?   That would be so disappointing...

Agreed. You came home up 3-2. 3 runs in the last 17 2/3 innings. Pathetic. Thompson should be gone but he won’t be.
