It all starts in the winter. They had a really bad offseason. If next season is to be any different they need to make some impact moves. I haven't looked at the free agent list yet or who may be available in trade, so we can do offseason plans in the coming weeks, but they signed a has-been reliever in Kimbrel, blew a wad of money on Walker who isn't even good enough to throw one postseason pitch and then did the Turner move and that was pretty much it. Strahm was another move I guess. Not good enough. Dombrowski needs to do better and Middleton needs to open that checkbook,.

Losing hoskins 3 days before opening day was a massive blow to the offense. I think the offense looks more consistent with him out there. We give Rhys a lot of crap for his defense but even with his hot and cold streaks he gives you quality professional at bats. You saw the end of the last two games they didn’t. He almost always gives professional at bats and usually gives you a 6-8 pitch at bat which helps wear on a pitcher.

They really lost this season at the trade deadline cause the issues they had at that time popped up. We knew we needed another bat even if turner was gonna turn it around. Our addition was Castro. That was never going to be enough and he was terrible. We also knew Alvarado had been dealing with injuries, soto and dominguez had been inconsistent and kimbrel had begun starting to show cracks and was overused. Yet they didn’t go get another BP arm. Which they badly could’ve used in this series. It’s likely a guy that may have prevented kimbrel situation.

For the last 50 years, the best blueprint for winning championships has been starting pitching.  But starting pitchers are throwing less innings (I don't have the numbers on it, but I have to imagine it is dramatic), having shorter primes, and getting more TJ than ever.  It just feels like a tough investment.

Wheeler and Nola were awesome in the playoffs for us, but that's also why I bring it up.  Wheeler is 33.  Nola may leave.  The days of a Halladay/Lee/Hammels/Oswolt rotation are gone.  The damn Braves had no one to pitch after game 2.

This is definitely one of the biggest problems the sport is facing.  People want to see the biggest stars square off, and you can't cultivate stars when you're continuously diminishing their roles.  I think part of the issue is that everyone throws too hard these days, which has significantly broadened the efficiency gap between starters and relievers, and greatly reduced the incentive to learn how to pitch.  I don't know how realistic it'd be to move the mound back, but that might be the only viable counter here unless they're willing to condense roster size (which I don't see the player's union going for).

Big time bummer!  Was looking forward to going to the Series with some Rangers fans from Dallas.

Oh well, tacos and beers make everything better.  And O-Maragaritas for after dinner drinks.  Best in Cabo San Lucas if you are ever here.

Then add a right handed and left handed bench piece.

Never fear, they have Pache and Cave.

Should’ve changed the lineup. However I’m not sure doing that even changes the outcome here. Castellanos going 1-24 on the series is a massive issue. Turner and harper combining to go 0-15 the last two games. Turner was 1 for his last 18. Rojas was nearly an automatic out every at bat. Somehow stott and bohm were the two best hitters in game 6 and 7. They went 3-7 and 2-8. Tells you everything about their hitters by the end.

this is more castellanos reverted back to July and 2022. Turner reverted back to pre-ovation Turner. Harper after game 5 actually had some good pitches and missed. Realmuto was actually their best hitter. Stott and bohm really have no business hitting 4 and 5 though. That’s not where they excel at.

This was my point to you yesterday. Everything looks bad when you don’t hit. It blows and is unfortunate at the same time.

What are the chances Kevin Byard plays on Sunday in Washington?

Both Roby and Julio played the first game after they signed.

If Hoskins comes back on some sort of one year deal like some have said, next season’s 1-9 would look like:

Schwarber - Turner - Harper - Hoskins - Stout - Realmuto - Castellanos - Bohm - Marsh

Solid 1-9, power through 1-9

Wheeler, Suarez, Sanchez should all be back.

Basically need one more ace - level starter.

This team made it to game 7 of the NLCS.  Not a time to even think about breaking up the lineup, considering they already look better going into next season.  Basically need to add an ace + a left handed and right handed bat off the bench, a closer and maybe another 1-2 bullpen arms.  Anything over that would be a bonus.

That's a lot to add, especially the bullpen arms.  For, Kimbrel blowing game 7 was the nail in the coffin.  Gave them confidence.  Of course, swinging at balls 18 inches outside the strike zone time after time the past two days didn't help.  AZ didn't have to throw strikes, we had to throw perfect strikes.  Their young players were more composed and patient than our vets.  By a wide margin.  They got in our heads and scramble our brains

Now that's done with

Now that they are watching another team at the dance from the outside - that ‘celebration’ song makes sense, I guess.

Woke up. Still Phissed off. Of course, I haven’t had breakfast yet.

OK, let's try to breakup our Phillies depression with some humor.

The Eagles are 6-1, I’m A-O-K.

Dwight Howard should have given the Phillies a "motivational” speech last night. "That plate discipline better be good or else you best not drop that soap later!”

It’s a walkthrough today but i wonder if they start putting Hurts on the injury report now that the cat is out of the bag

I finally have to ask: what’s the significance with that Dancing on My Own song?

why would they release him if he's been amazing?

Maybe he's fallen out with someone ?

It’s a song about swinging and missing at pitches 2 feet outside and then dancing after you get struck out.

Good question - w/o this added context it’s cringe af.

Well calling him a standout for the Eagles has already brought the seriousness of the tweet down a level. So I doubt he's been amazing.

Maybe try:

"Cardinals release former Eagles backup safety, who was underwhelming during his tenure in Arizona"

Sarcasm.
