The defense without Carter is like the offense without Lane

Milton had some good rushes, but Fletch can’t handle the doubles.

People keep saying we should be scared of our Schedule.  No, they should be scared of us.

The thing is, with how our team is built...KC/DAL/BUF/MIA (already a win there)...

Our secondary gets torched by Howell, Mac Jones, and everyone else.  They've tried to build this team to win games when you can't stop the opposing QB.  Ball control and shootout ability on offense, disruptive DL for game changing plays.  Their defensive fronts are actually a bit friendlier than what the Eagles saw today.  Yes, they will most likely pass at will...but the Eagles find ways to win that same game every week.

Calf looks A-O-K.

So funny that that's the name you used, I was thinking the same and was going to say Gainwell giving me James Joseph vibes.

Joseph of course was about 4 inches taller and 20 pounds heavier but was just as useless as Gainwell has been but they just kept giving him the ball🤷‍♂️

Gainwell needs to sit down, I'd rather Scott or Penny got his touches

Eagles IIRC didn’t have a-lot options when Joseph was around. With Gainwell they do, and Sirianni’s comment is asinine.

Perspective when it comes to calling for Brian Johnson’s job.

They still have some red zone issues to iron out but really it’s the turnovers that’s hurting the offense. It wasn’t just a fumble in the Super Bowl why the eagles  lost the game. but that is such a major contributor in that loss. When you faced teams like Kansas City, the Niners or teams of that caliber you cannot be turning the ball over this much. They’ll capitalize on the turnovers and make you pay for it. The Eagles offensively have the talent to beat anybody in the NFL. They are that stacked on offense. However, I do not believe they are going to win the Super Bowl if they’re turning the ball over at the rate that they’re turning it over. It is eventually going to get you in a big spot

Anyone calling for Johnson's job was crazy.  Criticism fair, but not calling for his job.

Hurts bounced back to Earth this year.  And he's slowly climbing back to 2022 status.  Or maybe not so slowly.  If Johnson gets the crap for Hurts crashing back, he gets the credit as Hurts is evolving and getting back to the top.

2. The fact that Blankenship was brutal/unreliable in coverage should not distract from the fact that our starting corners might be a problem.  I know last week was great, but that's an anomaly over 8 weeks this year.  I have zero faith in our secondary and that starts with Slay/Bradberry.  I know everyone will dismiss that and blame it on safety help and a lack of continuity, but these guys are playing poorly in their own right.  I don't trust them.

Here's the kicker. The Eagles had moved on from both of them. Slay was signing with the Ravens and Bradberry was a UFA. I don't recall who else was available but they didn't have to bring either of them back.

YT tv was buffering/lagging throughout the game for me - very frustrating.

Oh, so that was a YT TV issue and not my internet. Good to know.

Slay and Bradberry have been far more good than bad this season. To say they're playing poorly is recency bias.

That's both comforting and unsettling at the same time.  Comforting in that Howie clearly doesn't have his head in the sand at CB.  Our own GM all but tried to let them walk.  They are here due to a lack of options for us and more profitable suitors for them.  Unsettling in that, despite many defending them, it's clear our own FO doesn't thing they are very good.

I keep going back to how Howie was content on moving on from both Slay and Bradberry in the offseason. He let them test the market and CJGJ stalling was really the only reason he brought them both back. I believe Slay to Baltimore was almost a done deal.

He saw the writing on the wall with this. I think there is an alternate timeline where McPhearson and Devon Witherspoon/Christian Gonzalez could have been the starters this season.

Yeah I can't say I agree with that at all.  I think they've been problematic all season long...and we can go ahead and throw the SB into that too.

Idk about Witherspoon. Don’t think he was ever falling past the Seahawks. Gonzalez i do think was realistic. I kind of think if they didn’t get Carter he was very likely one of 2 players they are taking at 10.

I think it was more Bradberry today and I think he needs the bye to get right with whatever nagging injury he is dealing with.

Porter at 30 would’ve been a no brainer  and I was psyched to get Nolan.

Nice throw wonder boy.

Did Dean get benched today or was it just the rotation. Morrow played a lot in the second half

They won’t do it and it’s a pipe dream but if they did trade for surtain i get why they’d do it. Bradberry and slay aren’t young anymore. They are both likely gone after 2024 (if they got surtain wouldn’t be shocked if they dealt one in the offseason). Long-term the Eagles don’t have a definitive solution to when both are gone. We have some young guys that we like but they’re not given. If they made that trade I’m guessing their logic behind it is surtain was an all pro last year at 23 years old. Meaning he’s here for the next decade playing at that type of level so they don’t have to go find 2 corners to replace bradberry and slay. Only 1 and maybe one of those guys in house can be that guy.

Kind of feel like smith, Gonzalez were the two most likely candidates if they couldn’t get Carter.

This starting to look like AJ is having the Greatest WR Run in Eagles History people.  He's better than Last Year.

I definitely agree that things very nearly played out differently in ways that would have resulted in different permutations at cb.

Im not sure about McPhearson though.  If they thought he was ready, I think one of Slay/Bradberry would already be gone.  And if they were really high on him to eventually be ready, I don’t think they transition him to playing inside as Maddox insurance.

Agreed - and I’d be fine with that.
