Perhaps. Today just felt like three steps back for Desai though who on the whole, I think has done a good job this season. Maybe it’s an outlier considering Washington games are always weird, but not being able to defend the middle of the field has been a trend this season.

One thing I would say is that Desai usually manages to tighten the defense up at some point, he's way better at in game adjustment than Gannon ever was, under Gannon if we were getting abused early game we were usually abused all game. Desai usually gets at least a couple of stops regardless of personnel.

I just think the defense will be a lot better with Byard settling in.

Interception/Downs/Downs was a nice stretch in the 4th quarter.

I'm not worried about the defense, Desai really needs the bye week to get everyone healthy and on the same page.

You knew the secondary shuffle would catch up to them at some point, and no Carter and pretty much no Davis, well, Street tries hard.

When everyone is on the same page, Desai can get more creative, especially pre-snap, and know players won't be blowing assignments left and right.

Though a LB who could cover TEs would help.

We really need the defense on the same page Sunday, we can't wait until the bye week.

Yup - the defense needs to tighten up, and the formula has been to run through the DAL defense so I’d like to move away from the 70/30 split (with the necessary increase in rushing efficiency).

I think the Defense Bounces Back next week.  I don't think they've played two bad games in a row this season.  Also Yesterday wasn't all bad.  Reed's INT and Reddick the Closer really got it done in crunch time.

We aren’t really getting anything from Smith (outside of his great special teams tackle on Covey) and Barnett. Graham’s snaps are pretty low (by design due to age?). Maybe all the LB smoke is just to throw people off the scent.

Or the LB smoke is more about the media just assuming that that is where the Eagles are looking to upgrade and has no real connection to anything the team is putting out.

We didn't get a sniff of the Byard move ahead of time.  Same with the Brown trade during the draft.   And generally, we don't get a whiff of the move until it is announced as finalized (or nearly so).  If a move happens before the deadline, I'm sure that we won't see one that was being discussed ahead of time.

Here is the one thing I don't understand....if you know they are doing that quick crap, why not go to a dime package and rush just 3 but have your three best in like Cox, Carter and Reddick to provide some kind of rush in case all the DB's prevent an easy pass?   I mean again, I'm not an NFL defensive coordinator but it sure would make sense to me.  Then if they try and go to the run, put a standard 4-3 back in.

The top 3 would be Sweat, Carter and Reddick.

He has a no-trade clause. He’s not moving his entire family to another part of the country … especially NY , where Aaron Rodgers’ shadow looms.

Just pointing out he was gonna have to move next year anyway. If he still had like 2-3 years left on his deal then I’d agree. I also tend to believe that Minnesota went to him and was like we got a really good trade offer and you have a chance to win a Super Bowl with a Super Bowl roster that Kirk cousins turns that opportunity down when in 3 months he’s leaving Minnesota anyway (unless the Vikings do something stupid and give him another extension). That doesn’t necessarily have to just be the jets for that to have happened. With Brock purdy playing the way he is, if hypothetically the niners came calling and the Vikings were worse off then 4-4 (been rumors about cousins and shanahan reunion next offseason if purdy failed) i don’t he’d turned down playing with his old coach shanahan.

that said if cousins was healthy, minnesota getting to 4-4 were never gonna trade him especially with the schedule they have coming up. They’d have had to be like 2-6 to make that type of move cause at 4-4 and healthy cousins they’d have a decent shot at making the playoffs with their schedule.

Smith and Barnett hardly played.  Josiah Scott didn't play at all.  It was Ricks & Brown and safeties all day in slot and that didn't appear to work. Reed had a rough game back but I'm hoping that improves

Dallas Week post of the day

Buffalo, Jacksonville, LAR, Cincy all envy Dallas’ shortcomings over the last two and a half years apparently

This was pretty good

Hurts may be ‘struggling’ this year according to some, but he’s shown he is clutch and performs very well when things aren’t going well…check out his splits when the Eagles are leading, tied, and trailing in a game

Don’t think people are saying he’s struggling. People are saying he has a turnover problem. Which he has 11 through 8 games and on pace for 23.5. It’s definitely an issue for the eagles in general. Can’t keep turning the ball over at the rate they are especially with the gauntlet they are about to face. The margin of error is much slimmer than it is against a commanders team or a Bucs team where you can overcome it.

Definitely agree…it’s just interesting to see they are self-inflicted wounds.  All of his INTs came with the Eagles leading the game.  The whole team seems to get their act together when trailing.

I’d feel better if we had a true blowout win over a decent team.  No better time to do it than this Sunday vs Dallas

Got the ball out pretty quick on a lot of the throws. But the deeper play to smith he did a good job

Russini said we were shopping for a S in the days leading up.

Could see him going to IR

I forgot about the concussion issues…

Good lord Byard played every single snap?  Thats a little ridiculous. Theres absolutely no way he was mentally ready and I wonder how that impacted playcalling and scheme

I think that comes down to the team loses focus at times. Like yesterday they got a 14 point lead and all the defense has to do is play prevent defense. Don’t let anyone beat you deep and keep everything in front of you. They gave up a touchdown in 43 seconds. That is 100% lack of attention to detail thinking the game was over and the drive didn’t matter. All year this team has had an issue slamming the door completely shut when given a chance.

Im encouraged to see smith and dean out there

they are faster and tackle better if a bit small. They need experience. Patience grasshopper

Yes they are. There was just a post that said he was having accuracy issues and that his decision-making is bad, both of which are objectively hilarious.

Chicago has no business playing in prime time.

I think at this point, they have no business in having a franchise in their city. They stink on many levels
