Boston Scott has a career avg of 4.3 YPC. He's never averaged less than 4 YPC for a season. He's been averaging 4-5 carries per game before this year. He's got a career long rush of 56 yards and reception of 39 yards. The one kick he returned this year went for 38 yards. He's got juice and pop to his game. He brings a threat to break a play longer than 15 yards. For the life of me, I don't know why they aren't playing him on offense. The one game he played, he went 5 for 40.

Kenny Gainwell has one game this year when he's averaged over 4 YPC and he went 2 for 13 with a long of 12 against the Jets. His last 3 games he's averaged -2 yards, 2 yards and 2.4 yards per carry while getting 17 carries combined in those games. The grand total, 1.7 YPC in those games.

Yet Sirianni is standing behind him. I just makes zero sense.

I agree. He's been a major disappointment as a RB2.

Got the ball out pretty quick on a lot of the throws. But the deeper play to smith he did a good job

He should be the backup just based on what I saw yesterday

Is there any truth to that screenshot of Gainwell sending an Instagram DM from his phone during halftime? Can never tell what's real or fake nowadays. But if that was real, it's an instant demotion at best to me. He hasn't been good enough to be given the benefit of the doubt if he did something like that during freaking halftime.

Any bets on Howie flipping the NO 2nd round pick for a LB while the stock is still somewhat high? I say yes.

This was my thinking on it

I'm going to keep piling on him and I'm not sorry about it. IG DM during halftime or not, he's not been good enough to continue to get carries, ESPECIALLY in the RZ. The dump down passes padded his stats and a QB is always told to take what the defense gives you so no matter who the RB was there, they were getting those yards.

He needs to be demoted for poor play first and foremost.

You think Howie would invest a 2nd round pick (a relatively high one, at that) for a LB rental? .  When has Howie's investment in the LB position ever been so pricey?

Well, here's some thoughts after having a night to digest it all.

1. I just can't comprehend why Washington gives us such headaches, but...here we are. They're not a good team, and I do wonder if the D in particular is easing up thinking it should be a cakewalk. I just can't really reconcile the defensive performances over the last 2 weeks -- hold an all-time offense to 10 points, then let Sam Howell carve us up for the 2nd time this year.

2. I like Sydney Brown, but he's not a slot corner. If Roby isn't ready this week, I'd roll with Scott/Ricks in the slot.

3. Jordan Davis was clearly struggling with the hamstring out there. Once we lost Carter as well, the run D took a huge step back. We need Carter to be OK -- reports were he was moving around fine after the game. And we need Jordan to be full go for Dallas. Those 2 have been our 2 best players on defense this year and we clearly missed them.

4. Even without Carter and a healthy Davis, we were getting pressure. Milton Williams in particular had a great game. We need to do a better job of keeping guys in the pocket with maybe a little more rush discipline.

5. All of that said -- the defense did look better in the second half. Gave up 7 points until that garbage TD at the end (had Swift gone down at the 1, that never happens). Reddick really is basically unstoppable at this point. And honestly - Howell made some INSANE throws during the game.

6. Offense really could/should have put up 50 if we just hold on to the damn ball. I'll give a pass on the brotherly shove fumble given how effective the play has been. But Gainwell - not just fumbling, but the half-hearted effort to recover the fumble was atrocious. I'd like to start using Scott in the red zone.

7. Jalen Hurts is just ridiculous. Guy is clearly limited and can't move, but he carved up a good defense from the pocket. Maybe his most impressive game other than the Super Bowl.

8. We need Cam Jurgens back this week. Opeta is fine as a backup, and Steen showed well on the one drive. But with Lane still limited, we need Jurgens to get the run game going again. Dallas can be gashed on the ground, and we need to run it right at Parsons to wear him out.

9. AJ Brown is a human cheat code.

If Carter, Jurgens and Davis are full go, I feel good against Dallas. McCarthy is incapable of adjusting his antiquated offense. Just don't turn it over and we can handle them.

One more thought:

Both these games against Washington are the kind of games that most teams would lose. Or at best split. Hurts and Sirianni really have instilled a supreme confidence in these guys. Hurts' stats when trailing are off the chart (were posted earlier). We keep winning despite turnovers that would kill any other team in this league. If we can just clean that up...

actually you can se the Ref, check the alignment of the ball with where the side judge is standing to make sure the ball was properly spotted, before he touched it to officially "spot" the ball. This is not a one time occurence of this. You can even see the Center, look towards the side judge to properly spot the ball before he put it down.

Jets did it perfectly, and the official got in there to spot the ball prior to the snap.  The big fat OL should not be able to get to the ball and line up while the official is still 10 yards away and running; he was asleep at the switch and nearly cost the Jets the game.

Low key... I was a little upset that Opeta came back so fast. I wanted to see more Steen.

Well, it's Chicago.

Mortimer was only 10 points away 41 minus 38 is 3 plus the 7 from 38 minus 31 equals 10.  I mistyped my post, but the results were accurate.  Mortimer had a 10  Diehard had a 9 @eaglestime34 had an 11 and you had a 12.  My typing skills are not as good as my spreadsheet skills.

My bonus prediction was really close!

Russini said we were shopping for a S in the days leading up.

She’s also reporting the LB interest as well? I thought I heard that.

Easy now... the futility of their team the entire game up to that point would be what cost them the game.    No game ever is determined by a single situation.  Yes, a single situation can seem to swing things one way or the other, but how the team found itself in that situation counts too.   The Jets were playing the Giants 3rd string rookie QB who was an UDFA.  The fact that it was that close is the fault of the Jets, not the officials.  They sucked, but managed to scrape out a win.

The Eagles lost just this kinda game last year. To this same team. I saw progress and maturity in Jalen's game. Agree with all your points. Jurgens, Carter and Davis being healthy make us a strong Superbowl contender. Bye week coming in 2 weeks is just on time. I'll take having 2 of those 3 for next week and we are fine. Especially at home. No excuses, but that easily could have been a trap type of game and injuries struck mid game. Deadskins plain and simple just get up for the Eagles with that division rivalry factor where they just know you better and are up for it. Look at the Broncos vs. Chiefs. Hard to explain, but happens all the time. Deadskins do have a lot of pieces and to add, Howell played really well.

They did try to do somethings to modernize it... and they basically ruined it.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1982664-why-the-soldier-field-renovations-were-a-mistake-for-the-bears-and-chicago

Once upon a time, it was an historic landmark... but then they renovated it in 2003 and lost that status because of how poor the renovation was.   I went to see Soldier Field while I was in Chicago back in 2018... it's just so bizarre looking, especially in person.   The city of Chicago has failed their fans and the Bears didn't fight hard enough to get it right.   It could be an awesome venue, but instead its a pathetic monstrosity.

With the Cousins injury you have to wonder if the Vikes would be willing to trade Danielle Hunter.  10 sacks on the season.  Would be a big time upgrade at DE behind Reddick and Sweat.  Last year on his contract

F it.  Mariota for N'Keal Harry straight up.

How about if we dump Mariota, Barnett, Watkins and Gainwell? I'll take a 4th, two 5th's & a 6th and never look back again. Pretty much addition by subtraction.

I wonder what Hunter would cost? 29 year old DE rental? 4th? 3rd?

EDIT: Even our 2nd might be worth it, since we'd get a 3rd as a comp pick when he walks. Replacing Barnett and Graham's snaps with Hunter...our 2024 2nd for Hunter and a 2024 6th?

Wow; no. A LB worth a mid/high 2nd rounder is a LB on or soon to be on a 20m$ a year contract. Howie would rather burn at the stake
