It's amazing the team has the best record in the league but the defense stinks, the OC is the worst ever and the QB is a turnover machine.

Obviously next week is the real test

He should have responded with an apology to the fan.

a back injury never seems to be discomfort that you can play through. Sometimes they feel like that and yet, one little tweak, next thing you know its debilitating pain.

As a person who has suffered through some back issues, I get that. But saying something is a ‘back injury’ is kind of vague. We don’t exactly know what happened.

The Penny situation is one of the more baffling things in recent years. He's not hurt because he played in preseason and isn't on IR. I don't buy that they're "saving him" for the post-season. If we trade for a RB would have to imagine Penny goes with the pick.

What I don't get is they did this same thing last year with Sermon where he was on the roster virtually all season and had 2 carries all year. Penny is insurance in case something happens to Swift/Gainwell. Like you, I don't believe they are saving him, but he also might not be all the way back from his injury. He costs next to nothing, knows the system, and the Eagles don't have much in the pipeline other than some dude named Lew. Unless Howie gets a good opportunity to trade for a RB, I think Penny will stick.

I brought his name up yesterday. I see no reason why the Bears need to hold onto Foreman.

Based off everything being reported they really didn’t want to even use him in week 7 but basically were forced to cause Johnson had a concussion and herbert was on IR

Pretty much all back injuries, whether its a disc herniation, a fracture, of just a strain- all result in spasm. Spasm is painful and debilitating. Subtle movements hurt. People cant stand up straight. People cant walk right.

It doesnt much matter exactly what happened. Its a back injury. Theyre extremely finicky. You dont mess with that.

He might play. I bet if he does play, this thing lingers a long time, and wouldnt be surprised if he misses 1 or more games after he plays in this next one.

Gimme Derrick Henry for the rest of the season and get demote/get rid of Gainwell. Only 5.5 mil cap hit for us. 1/2 season rental won’t cost anything and I doubt he re-signs in Tennessee as they’re clearly no where close to competing. Him and Swift would really wear down some defenses, and his ability to fall forward a free 2 yards on most plays would be clutch.

Eagles might as well IR Calcaterra for the rest of the year and let him retire after the season. Sorry, the guy retired once because of concussions during college. It's not worth the long term risk at this point. They have Albert O.

A guy they got via trade… surprised we have not seen him yet

He's actually a decent QB (meaning better than the worst 10-12 guys) with a bad oline. He had a phenomenal game yesterday, and we still won. :flex:

Living in Charlotte, where Howell is from, I have kept up with him for several years now, from high school through his college years at UNC.

I was saying a couple of years ago when he was getting ready for the draft, and we still weren’t sure how good Hurts was going to be, that I wanted the Eagles to take a shot on him in a mid round.

Not sure how high his ceiling is, but he has a lot of qualities that do well in the NFL…..physically and mentally tough, accurate, strong arm, and pretty mobile.

Would not surprise me one bit to see him have a good career as a starter.

The biggest issue right now is WAS has done a terrible job of protecting him.

Are both Evans and Jurgens eligible to return this week? Calcaterra to IR would free up a spot for one of them. Then, since Roby should be back they can cut Josiah Scott for the other. They will need to clear one more spot to sign Quintorris to the 53, but they can wait until after the bye for that.

So, you wait 4 weeks to start the TNF.   You'd really only be missing Weeks 2, 3 or 4, because the opener is already in a good spot with at least 7 days since the last preseason game, and no one plays in that game of consequence anyway.   So, you contract the preseason one game, and add an extra bye week for the week before the TNF plus the regular bye.   And on a couple TNF spots, they could even have double headers like they did with MNF a few times...  Plus they have 3 games already scheduled for Thanksgiving.

Week 1
Weeks 5 - 17 (no Week 18 or 19 TNF games and 3x on Thanksgiving)...  (By adding the extra bye, the NFL schedule would be 19, not 18 weeks.  They could even squeeze an extra game in to the schedule with a second bye built-in and then you'd have Weeks 1, 5-17 with TNF, with Weeks 2, 3, 4, 18, 19 and 20 without TNF.). And that would mean more money and better games on TNF, which means more money for that game each week, because it would become a premium game rather than a throwaway in the schedule.

That makes more than enough spots for each team to play on TNF... and even have the flexibility to have the teams involved in the opener play ANOTHER TNF game to earn that 2nd bye in the schedule, if they wanted.

And remember once upon a time, they had teams that STARTED on a bye because they had an odd number of teams.  The schedule makers had the teams with bad records get the byes either super early or super late to have it impact the post-season as little as possible.   They can do it again and have the worst teams in the Weeks 5, 6, 16 and 17 slots.  Basically, the teams that own the top 8 picks in the draft get those spots.

I agree with you here but the Owners and NFL lose out on 3-4  prime time games … and as we know it’s about $$. So it won’t happen. Personally, I’d like to see them eliminate the 17th regular season game and 1 playoff spot in each conference (won’t happen either).

Yeah it’s cause no one gives a crap about the dbacks. Most people out here all year didn’t give a crap about them and most didn’t when they were down 0-2

Can't cut Scott until after this week.  Have to keep 3 weeks if signed from another team's PS

WA has done a terrible job of existing.

I cant believe we need a DE, a LB, a RB, and even a CB (though we definitely wont do this one). And yet, as it stands right now we deserve to be super bowl favorites anyway.

If you asked me to rank those for what the team needs now I’d go

1. LB

2. DE

3. Cb

4. Rb

If you asked long term it would look different

A couple of notable stats from starters

-James Bradberry has allowed 4 TDs so far this year (2 all of last year), and a passer rating of 113.0. That ain't good.

-On the flipside, Eli Ricks is only allowing a passer rating of 57.6. I think he's a future starter here.

-There are 64 starting G in the NFL, only 11 have given up more pressures than Sua Opeta. He's making things ever more difficult for a less than 100% Lane Johnson. Cam Jurgens will be a welcome addition back to the OL.

Bradberry is noticeably struggling and seemingly putting in less effort than last year. He might just be happy with the check.

How would you assign a sack if its a collapsing pocket?  Not a rule worth fixing.

The touchback on the endzone fumble is a priority.  Followed by being able to challenge certain personal fouls, like facemask (which is a cut and dry call).

That’s great I’m theory, problem is early season no teams are on the bye.

That is a problem only in 4 weeks ... Weeks 2 through 5.  Beginning with Week 6 it is clear sailing.  Not perfect, but better.
