The Penny scratch made no sense given the weather. I'd argue he's a better kick returner than Scott as well.

Yeah, that had me scratching my head.

Penny with our OL has the potential to be totally dominant (assuming he stays healthy).

Why sign him if you aren’t going to play him in a game like this?

Just finished my internship application for the Eagles. Woo Hoo!

Is it to play Linebacker?

We benched Penny, which made no sense to me since you’d think a rain game would be perfect for his vision/cut/power/speed progression style.

But once we did that, Swift isn’t the guy you run in the rain and neither is Scott. That leaves Gainwell by default.

I think in dry weather Swift gets a lot more looks. My question is with Penny. He’s the best pure runner we have and you bench him for Scott?

The problem is Scott plays ST. Penny doesn’t. If they’re not dressing 4 RBs, I’m worried Penny will be the odd man out.

No lol. Grounds maintenance.

Gotta be saving him for Thursday, amirite?

You’re practically a starter!

Scott id not actually good on STs anyway, and that RB rotation today was as putrid as youd expect a RB rotation lead by Gainwell to be. That guy has 0 elusivenes.

Swift had a drop early on, and I dont know if that affected his opportunities, but 1 target, and 1 carry is idiotic.

It should be mainly Swift and Penny with a sprinkling of Gainwell.

The eagles have it completely backwards. Because they have no idea what talent looks like at RB.

I hope so. Because if we signed him just to keep as a healthy scratch I will be furious.

That dude should be magical in this offense.

Gainwell is fine in a rotation. But Penny is an actual weapon getting 15 hand offs per game and Swift is obviously our most elusive RB.

The Eagles have the best OL in the league and we've been sold on this 3/4 headed monster all off-season. This is exactly the type of weather game that the OL buckles the chinstraps up and drives the DL back letting the RB do their job. If Swift and Scott can't play in the rain why the hell are they on the team?

I'm anything but a Boston Scott supporter but the guy is rocked 5-6 203. and brings juice when he runs the ball downhill. Gainwell isn't built to get that many touches.

Gainwell- 18 touches, 14 carries

Swift- 2 touches, 1 carry

Scott- 2 touches, 1 carry

Hurts- 9 carries

If that's how they are going to divide the touches, I would have paid Miles Sanders and let him tote the rock.

No reason to think the giants would be any more than the trash the eagles beat up last year.

Gainwell had 14 carries

hurts had 9

Swift had 1

that is unacceptable. There should not be a 14/1 carry ratio between gainwell and Swift. Even if Swift is getting 14 and gainwell gets 1, that is unacceptable.

On a lot of carries today where Gainwell surprises with his ability to fall forward on contact for a smaller back, Sanders would have been able to hit a jump cut for a whole chunk of more yards.

Im not saying the should have kept Sanders, cause Swift has incredible contact balance and could have got a bunch more yards that Gainwell couldnt as well.

I have to say, Cam Jurgens was underwhelming to me.

I won’t pretend like I reviewed film or anything, but it seemed like every time the Patriots blew up a play it was because Jurgens messed up.

I like Gainwell but in a "we have 2 injuries and now we need Gainwell to get 16 carries" way.

He is not a lead back or even a #2 on a team with Penny and Swift.

NE has a good run defense. We kind of abandoned the run once the weather cleared for good reason. The WRs were running around open Jalen just wasn't seeing the field well. I would have preferred Penny getting 14 carries though. Wear them down a bit with a bigger more powerful back.

I like Gainwell in a "we handed the ball to RBs 26 times and he got 7 of them” way.

Penny should get the most hand offs. Swift should get the most total touches. Gainwell should get the leftovers.

One thing that was a concern today regarding Hurts, was he didn't seem to trust the OL at all. He went back to immediately sprinting away from the pocket. I don't know how great the pockets were but he wasn't even setting his feet to give the OL a chance to set one up.

I'm just not sure what was with his game today. He was off. He looked slow on his runs. He wasn't seeing wide open WR/TE. The fumble. There was one read play where he looked really indecisive in giving Gainwell the ball.

Very strange game from him considering how great he was last year.

Could have been that Sirianni outsmarted himself today and wanted to catch them unprepared for that happening. I think Scott will be the odd man out more times than not. Kick returner duties and a few special teams snaps does not warrant a spot to be on game day roster. Think we are kind of wasting spots with Covey and Scott as game day callups. Rather have special team aces instead and go with Z, Penny and Watkins combinations for those 2 roles. With no preseason, it kind of feels like they are still in experimental mode, when normally lot of this could be hashed out during preseason games.

Truth of the matter is that Gainwell is a 3rd down/change of pace back and a slightly above average one at that. He should never lead the Eagles in touches.
