EMB Blog: 2023 Regular Season thru Week 9 - NO POLITICS

IMO…before the season…my top teams in the nfl:

1. Chiefs 2. Eagles 3t. Bills 3t. SF 5. Dolphins

After week 1:

1. Chiefs 2. Eagles 3t. Bills 3t. SF 5. Dolphins.

I thought we’d split with Dallas before; I think we’ll split with Dallas now.

So not much has changed.

Toney really has no business talking  his performance was as bad as the giants

OMG. I Hate JT the Brick. He is anti-Philly especially the Eagles. Because he went to an Eagles Giants game and got beat up a long time ago. He openly admits he roots hard against Philly and basically loses objectivity.

I went to the Flyers Devils semis in Jersey in 1994. I was not an a-hole.

I saw about 10 Flyers fans who were aggressive a-holes and they got beaten for starting stuff.

JT the Brick probably got beat up because he is a grade Z a-hole.

He's as worthless as that Chicago loser Wilbon who cries about Philly every chance he gets.

No Bradberry, No Dean....the offense and the DL have to win on Thursday. I feel better about Jobe playing more as long as we play more man than zone.

Time for the young guns to step it up. Slay follows Jefferson all game.

Cowboy fans are now full of themselves thinking they are the team to beat.

Of course they are, let them have it.

Overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.

Good injury news overall.  Cox fine.

Dean out a month is a blow…I worry about him being Maddox-like with his health moving forward and I worry about him missing critical early season experience and just diving into the teeth of the schedule.  But at least he’s going to be ok.

Bradberry is fine, but it does hurt that he’s probably not available for Thursday.  Will be a good experience for our CB depth.

I do worry that Jefferson is going to absolutely go off.  He probably circled Slay on the calendar after last year and I’m not sure Slay is going to play to that standard again.  With rookie level experience throughout the rest of the secondary while Slay shadows Jefferson, the overall pass defense might get ugly.

We had to burn 2 time outs on ST and gave up a long return along with a missed XP.  There were definitely some good punts and hits and Elliot made 4 FG.  But you're definitely grading on a curve there

The long return wasn’t so long.  The Pats had a total of 21 punt return yards from 3 returns.

If Kelce and Jones played Chiefs easily win that game (less passes for Toney to drop). Always context to a situation.

They gave up a 43 yard kick off return

Week 1 2003: Bills 31 Patriots 0

4 turnovers including a pick 6

Bills finished 6-10

My top 5 is likely looking like:

1. 49ers 2. Eagles 3. Cowboys 4. Dolphins 5. Winner of Bills/Jets tonight.

1998 Week 1: Seahawks 38 Eagles 0 in Philly

9 sacks

defensive TD

Seattle finished 8-8

Patriots lost the Bills week 1 in 2003 31-0.  They went on to win the SB.  (And would shutout the Bills 31-0 in week 16)

He went 9 for 150 yesterday, their offense put up 17 points, and they lost at home to the Buccaneers.  Even a stud WR1 doesn't change a game all by himself -- and it's Cousins in prime time on Thursday coming up.

1.  What first or second round LBs are decent, not stars not busts, and are in the last year of rookie deals? (On bad teams)

2. What veteran LBs who are more proven are in the final year of a deal? (On bad teams)

3.  What veteran LBs who are pretty good are entering the less cost effective years of a large-ish contract?

One month from now, we’ll trade for someone from one of those lists.

The returner danced on his tiptoes for an 10 extra yards. To his credit, he just made a play.

I was impressed with Covey's TOUGH 20+ yard return.  Kid is anything but soft.  Can't help liking him.

Week 1 2021:  Saints 38 Packers 3

Lick-a-Dub with 5 TD passes. Rodgers with a 36 rating and 2 picks.

Saints went 9-8 and the Packers finished 13-4

Our PS call ups will be interesting. We will need Morrow on Thursday. Siposs is a given. Would think Covey is too.

With that, I almost think Dean to the IR is a must from a roster construction standpoint.

Aren’t we limited to only two call ups from the PS per week? If so, that has to be Siposs and Covey, although maybe just maybe you can get by with OZ or Jobe or even DeVonta back there and sit Covey for a week.

I think it was 6, but yes.

Also tied the rookie DT high over the past 5 seasons.

He’s going to be so, so good.

Does the sack count as a hurry?

better look at JC tossing Andrews like a ragdoll

I’m not picking the cowboys to go to the Super Bowl but really in the nfc there’s only 3 teams anyone is really going to pick: eagles, niners or cowboys. So it’s not all that shocking when i see some say they aren’t taking the eagles due to a Super Bowl hangover (heck no nfc team that lost the Super Bowl and made it back the following year in forever) and they don’t believe in purdy to choose Dallas.

that said if Gilmore stays healthy, it was a hell of a pick up for a year for that defense. When healthy he’s still good. Allows that defense to be more dangerous. I think their offense is not nearly as good as they were when Dak first got there. Although lamb, cooks and pollard aren’t bad weapons. More i don’t believe their oline is as good as in year’s past and i wouldn’t trust Dak.
