I don't know how to feel about this defense. They get shredded but only gave up 6 points in the 2nd half and got the big game sealing sack once again. Feels very Jekyll and Hyde.

The secondary and linebackers need to be bulldozed and rebuilt in the offseason. Two new corners, maybe three because Maddox is usually banged up. Dean isn’t it at linebacker, but is still on his rookie deal and a decent depth piece. It might be a two-year process because I don’t think they can fix the whole thing in one offseason. Might be able to get away with Reed and Byard at safety again but they’re not long term options. Byard looks like he’s going to win the Robert Quinn award this season.

Reddick deserves an extension. The line is still in good shape.

Their outlook on linebacker is what it is. A lot complain every year yet it's the same story. I really have no faith much will be done there. We need to get lucky on a later draft pick because I don't see one being selected before round 3. I don't agree with it but it's how they roll. Pretty ridiculous when it's so obviously bad and it would help a ton to have a quality 3 down guy but they bury their heads.

I'm not a fan of Jobe, but he still goes into the triad of Jobe/Ricks/Ringo youngsters that just are not good right now, might be good one day, and probably can't be relied on being good next year.

I don't think they are going to get anything but pain out of Slay/Bradberry/Byard next year.

I actually think Blankenship has the instincts and short range ability to be a satisfactory starter underneath when surrounded by better talent (think Quintin Mikell-lite).  But when you have CB's who get beat and another safety that is consistently late in coverage, Blankenship is exposed just like the rest of them.

This is a talented team with no cap room, so I don't know what they are going to do in the offseason.  We can't afford a big name in FA.  Knowing Howie, he'll probably try to explore every pick-for-vet CB option there is.  Even if it's tier 2 non-studs, I think they need to add at least 2 playable veteran DBs in the offseason, bolstered by draft picks and the modest expectations of getting something from Jobe/Ricks/Ringo.

I assume there is a rough cap penalty for moving on from Bradberry/Slay...but I would not want to bank on anything from either of them.

Looks great on paper and then realize we were insanely close to giving up a whole lot more.

Eagles averaged 3.3 YPC today. Run game hopefully will improve after the bye, right now it's not good enough.

We have to be honest with ourselves, Brian Johnson is not Shane. I have not been impressed at all with Johnson's play design or play calling. I believe we've been winning more because of Jalen's second and third looks not due to the play calling or design

Is this actually true? I thought they were looking good with the cap.

Great time for a bye.

Plenty to dissect but one main thought I had was Steen looked good

Struggled early but seemed to settle in as the game went on.

curious what @just relax sees on the all 22

I don't have a dog in this game, but it would have seemed to me that Josh Allen's taunting penalty should have wiped out the TD since it happened prior to him scoring, not after crossing the goal line.

Sure, but "it’s always him.” Whether his body can’t hold up or he’s the unluckiest guy on the team, he’s earned the label.

I don’t disagree with you. I was just stating that today was more Markquese Bell playing dirty than Goedert being unlucky.

Sirianni designs the plays, not Johnson or Shane.

Sirianni defended the deep shot to Brown on third and 3. "Sometimes they squat at the sticks.”

If the Cowboys could run that play with that level of success he wouldn't be complaining.

The offense feels weird. From a numbers standpoint, points, yards, EPA, etc it’s the same as last season. Turnovers being the main difference. But like you said, it feels less scheme reliant and more just Hurts and AJ making something happen. Guys are rarely running wide open for YAC opportunities. Goedert goes quiet for too long. DeVonta is boom or bust down the field. They get nothing out of their third WR. And they seem to stall in situational, end of game moments. It just feels off.

Dallas fans claiming some moral victory. Those don't exist. It's a division loss and you're 2.5 games back. The game in Dallas is a month away and the play quality in this game rarely is predictive of the next either way

The fact Dallas got the ball with 46 seconds having to go 86 yards for a td and managed to get all the way to the 6 in 19 seconds is truly ridiculous. Then they imploded and sweat made a play so thank god for that

Dallas definitely self immolated more than the Eagles made plays. The Eagles just don’t have good solutions in the secondary. They have one above average cover corner in Slay.

They may look to start extending their own guys who will command hefty contracts

Well, Howie has hit on a lot of picks lately.  We have a pretty good group of players on rookie deals and NEED to stick around.  So I should say we have limited cap flexibility.

So I don't think we can sign our way to any automatic solutions in the secondary.  That either has to come from trading meaningful picks or from signing some anonymous vets that can at least play the position.  But I think we have to do one of the two.

Which game was that?
