I'm not a fan of Jobe, but he still goes into the triad of Jobe/Ricks/Ringo youngsters that just are not good right now, might be good one day, and probably can't be relied on being good next year.

I don't think they are going to get anything but pain out of Slay/Bradberry/Byard next year.

I actually think Blankenship has the instincts and short range ability to be a satisfactory starter underneath when surrounded by better talent (think Quintin Mikell-lite).  But when you have CB's who get beat and another safety that is consistently late in coverage, Blankenship is exposed just like the rest of them.

This is a talented team with no cap room, so I don't know what they are going to do in the offseason.  We can't afford a big name in FA.  Knowing Howie, he'll probably try to explore every pick-for-vet CB option there is.  Even if it's tier 2 non-studs, I think they need to add at least 2 playable veteran DBs in the offseason, bolstered by draft picks and the modest expectations of getting something from Jobe/Ricks/Ringo.

I assume there is a rough cap penalty for moving on from Bradberry/Slay...but I would not want to bank on anything from either of them.

Yes we're stuck with Slay and Bradberry next year due to cap penalties if we move on.  I believe they are both gone the following year through.

Eagles next 6 weeks...
Bye
Chiefs - away
Bills - home
49ers - home
Cowboys - away
Seahawks - away
That's a rough stretch, but if the Eagles can win the home games, and split with the Cowboys/Seahawks... I feel great about it.  That's 3-2 in that stretch.

Dallas next 6 weeks...
Giants - home
Panthers - away
Commanders - home - Thanksgiving
Seahawks - home - TNF
Eagles - home  (Basically coming off a mini-bye week)
Bills - away

Easy 3, then tough 3.   Dallas will likely go at least 4-2 in that stretch... maybe 5-1.    That makes today's win that much bigger.  The Eagles NEEDED this one, especially given the way that Dallas' schedule builds up to the Eagles game.  Someone explain to me how Dallas scores three straight home games INCLUDING the Thursday night game... and then gets the mini-bye to ALSO be at home?

BTW, Eagles aren't the only ones with tough stretch coming up (next 6 weeks):

Bills:  Broncos, Jets, Eagles, Chiefs, Cowboys, Chargers...
Seahawks: Commanders, Rams, 49ers, Cowboys, 49ers, Eagles...
49ers: Jaguars, Bucs, Seahawks, Eagles, Seahawks, Cardinals

This

Today was all about getting a W and staying healthy.  We shall see if we lost Goedert for an extended period which would be a blow but one we can deal with just like last year.

8-1 baby

We will see

Dallas definitely self immolated more than the Eagles made plays. The Eagles just don’t have good solutions in the secondary. They have one above average cover corner in Slay.

Other issue is their safety spots aren’t good. Byard hasn’t played like he did in 2021 or 2022. Even before coming to the eagles. He’s had been bleh with the titans. I like Reed but since he’s come back from his injury he hasn’t looked very good. Clearly brown isn’t ready. Not talked about enough but if Reed doesn’t look good rest of the year, byard is going to be 32 next year then you have potentially a need at safety even if brown makes the jump next year.

Stuck with them on the roster, but I'm not sure we can pencil them into the starting lineup.  Slay...maybe, but after another year, he could be a big problem too.

Dallas fans claiming some moral victory. Those don't exist. It's a division loss and you're 2.5 games back. The game in Dallas is a month away and the play quality in this game rarely is predictive of the next either way

We literally did our best to hand the game away and they still lost lol. People are pounding their chests because of Dak's stat line but he didn't do anything impressive because our secondary is ... uncoordinated at best. Hurts TD to Smith was easily more impressive than anything Dak did all game.

Watching his live stream from start to end is like watching the movie Split. It’s always the same personality changes at the times the Cowboys collapse starts to happen. He always tries to hold back before he explodes and then it’s getting super entertaining.

There’s a lot of folks pointing at the defense but the game should have never come down to being as close at it was.

3 4th quarter possessions late in the game without getting a 1st down on offense is an issue they really need to work on and clean up.  Something they need to focus on in the bye week.

If anything, the defense stood out, did not get gassed and performed quite well considering they were on the field the majority of the 4th quarter.

Eagles lose in KC, win against Buf, win against 9ers, beat Dallas in Dallas, lose against shehawks

Would love to see Brown settle in at safety and end the nonsense with him at the nickel. But Ricks was a walking penalty and/or completion that we’re just screwed until Roby is back.

Never heard of him before today... will never see him again in the future.  He can't create an argument.  No shock there.  Every team can run the Tush Push, but they suck at it.

Zach Cunningham is playing like a beast.

Byard absolutely sucked 71 yards allowed

Good timing to be coming out of the Bye Week for the Chiefs game

Andy Reid is in "throwback mode”. His receiver corps is reminiscent of Pinkston and Thrash

yep. we are going to beat the Chiefs by double digits.

Eagles games kind of go the same way whether it's an elite opponent or a crap one.  Chiefs and Bills will move the ball up and down the field and score at will.  So what?  Sam Howell and Mac Jones do that too against us.  This year, both teams are as likely as anyone we've faced to help us with a turnover or two.  And both defenses, while pretty good, aren't nearly as scary as what we've already had to face.  So while those games could easily be losses, it's going to be the same overall script we've seen against damn near everyone we've played all year.  Tight game, goes to the end, offense scores, defense gives up scores, etc.

49ers will be similar to what we had tonight, except against an even better defense (despite their recent funk) and a worse QB.  And they'll be out for blood, just like the second Dallas game.

It's tough, but I don't think it'll be much tougher than what we made the first half of the schedule for ourselves.

Dak cooks this defense every time he plays them. Today was nothing new and expected. And he’ll do the same in the rematch in Dallas. They need to worry about him against other teams. But this offense is capable of keeping up with him.

The defense is just turnover reliant. They’re going to give up points and yards. But even one turnover might be good enough for Hurts and the offense.

Roby can’t fix this defense. It’s truly a nightmare on the back end. Let’s see how these injuries pan out to Bradberry/Slay. Glad we won. But.

The offense having three 3 and outs in the 4th, rather than running an efficient 4 minute drill is an area for improvement.

If the Cowboys could run that play with that level of success he wouldn't be complaining.

The Packers ran the power sweep... The Redskins ran the counter trey...

Teams have 'signature plays' that are almost like cheat codes, because they are just so good at it, in large degree because of the way it is coached... in part because of the amount they practice it... and in part due to the talent they have to run it.

I used to dislike the Tush Push... but the more we've done it and the more the noise around it grows, the more I like it.  The losers need to stop crying about it.  It's been a part of football, since football was invented.  People forget that the NFL started as '3 yards and a cloud of dust'.  This play is a throw back to that era.  It isn't rugby or anything like that.  It is just a physical play that really comes down to execution and willingness.

Surprisingly, he used to be entertaining to watch. Objective and didn't hold back on Dallas' short comings, but now he's joining the ranks of those that want an NFL play banned because it's not a media darling benefitting from it.

Frankly solid chance the cowboys are sitting at 9-3 by the time they face us next. Seattle is the only good team and geno smith has looked terrible lately. His last 4 games he has 4 tds and 6 ints. QB rating of 77.5. Last 5 games they are scoring 16.8 ppg. I’d bet when we face the Seahawks they are going to be 7-6 or worse.

What was time of possession in the 4th quarter?  It had to be close to 10+ minutes Dallas
