So whats the deal with Penny? He only had 2 carries, but he showed some juice.

Kenny G running at a 7.3 clip, surprising that Swift wasn’t sent to bench as well.

He’s been pretty bad in coverage. Maybe as far as a liability. Idk what your infatuation is but maybe scale it back a notch.

SF has 3 losses and 9 games left. You can easily find 2 losses on their schedule for them to finish 12-5. SF is also an extremely top-heavy team. They're more susceptible to injuries than most.

Which is why they are in this situation having lost 3 straight.  McCaffrey is banged up.  Purdy is concussed.   Samuel has been out.

I dont entirely understand the cap websites.

It seems like Slay has a hit of 11m on the roster next year, 35m if they cut him.  They take a 21.4m hit to cut him after 2024.  Kind of looks like a terrible contract, but I assume there is more to it.  Regardless, with that understanding, he's costing their cap 30m+ over 2024 and 2025 no matter what they do with him.  So I guess they might as well find out if he's got any gas in the tank for 2024.

Bradberry...4.9m cap hit next year. 17.2m if they cut him.  12.5m dead if they cut him after 2024.  So, like Slay, they basically are taking that static hit over 2 years regardless.  Even though he's younger than Slay, Bradberry is the one that may legitimately be on the roster bubble if they make some additions at the position.

Byard...14.3m cap hit versus 0.7m dead cap if cut (if I'm actually reading that right).  If that's correct, he's an instant cut unless he turns it around this year and they give him a cheap little  2 year restructure.

I could see them doing some Howie-esque Slay restructure, cutting Bradberry, and lightly dabbling with a Byard restructure before releasing him if it's not extremely team friendly.

I get confused by the sites too. The real tail kicker is both were off this team and they brought them back. Slay and JB aren't the sole reason for poor pass defense, but they are both on the decline and cost a pretty penny while doing so.

That was just a QB sneak though, not a Shove or Push.

Just saying they would if they could, and all ensuing hullabaloo wouldn’t happen

Couple of nice plays today where they had Swift and Gainwell both in the game. Every once in a while they bust out a creative play or formation like that.

I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

TE is entering Howie’s draft consciousness.  While 12 personnel has mercifully retreated into a situational package, this franchise has an emphasis on 2 quality TEs.  They have a remarkable, nearly uninterrupted continuous history of overlap between past and present "franchise” TEs.  Chad Lewis and LJ Smith.  Smith and Celek.  Celek and Ertz.  Ertz and Goedert.

I bet Goedert is rapidly approaching the age his predecessors were when part 2 was drafted….if he hasn’t passed it already.

Yikes.  Could be another root for Dallas situation coming up there.

By that point... it likely won't matter for Dallas at least in terms of the division.

Here are the last 3 drives where Washington and Dallas had the ball to close out halves

commanders with 34 seconds moves the ball 32 (really 37 but commanders got called for a penalty) for a Fg

commanders in 43 seconds went 72 yards for a td.

Dallas in 46 seconds moves the ball 79 yards without a timeout

3-0

Slay is the unquestioned best player in this secondary.  And at 32 with some of his own struggles, I’m not sure he’s much more than a decent starter.

I don’t know if this is a rough patch for Bradberry or the end, ditto Byard with his crash course adjustment in a new defense…but decent starter is not something that can describe anyone in the secondary other than Slay.

Wonder if Julio will get some snaps at TE. With Goedert most likely going to IR, I can't see them relying on Stoll, Calcaterra, and Albert O for significant time.

Yeah... but the Eagles are the ones that deserve no respect?   Send this to that moron Dallas fan crying about the Shove.

I thought for sure they could have attacked the middle of the field with Julio and DG. They don't run much of anything down the seems and I think that could be a major strength for them.

If you wanted to you could forget about all of the crazy and or frustrating happenings in this game and boil it down to two coaching decisions.

Nick going for the 4th downs on the opening drive rather than settling for a FG. We likely lose that game with a FG there.

Dallas not going for the 4th down. Punting that one time, when they likely convert 3 yards for a 1st down. Old school coaches making old school decisions loses games against good teams.

Goedert is fine he’s not going on IR. Not sure what’s up with the negative Nancy today sheesh.

I just rewatched the highlights and Goederts arm did not look good on that tackle. There was a very visible bend in his arm that should not be there.

Would need to change a few things.  He could be the TE Zach Ertz was in his last few years.  Generally didn’t put a hand in the dirt and functioned like a slot.

That would require bring back everyone’s favorite Watkins as the roster replacement for Goedert.

Did you see this reported anywhere?

The defense lost us the Jets game?

No... Washington game #1.  That game feels like it was a loss, because Rivera lost that game for them by not going for two and playing for OT.   But, the Jets game was the actual loss...  so I mixed them up.

Lol. Sure it did.

Everyone complaining about the push sneak and wanting it banned without realizing that the absolute worst call in the game is pass interference on an underthrown ball (they got Bradberry for it on the last drive). It’s been an awful call for a few years now and quarterbacks use it as a strategy too. The defender has no other option than to impede the receiver, what else do you want them to do? Just let them by? It needs to be reassessed and taken into account when the quarterback makes a poor, underthrown ball.

How do you regulate that though?
