I wish we had an under center passing game. Without it, an immobile Hurts means it's hard to run the ball since the edge defender never respects the keep.

Could they just use the pistol and get the same basic effect as an under center running game?  It wouldn't have to be a read option play.

Aside to boiling it down to coaching decisions on 4th down, if there was one play you could single out that determined the result of the game, it would probably have to be Dak stepping out of bounds on the 2 point try. IF he makes that, Dallas only needs a FG to tie rather than being down 5. Obviously they got in range for an easy one.

Now, maybe our offense is able to turn it back on for an over time drive when the playbook opens back up rather than playing not to lose. BUT, can the D be trusted if we dont get the ball first or dont score? Good chance dallas ties it in regulation and goes on to win.

I think there would have been a higher sense of urgency to get a first down if it was only a three point game. Probably don’t run on both first and second down. I think they were content on going conservative there and giving the ball back to Dallas needing a touchdown with no timeouts.

They'd have been playing to score at that point though, because Dallas kicks the FG to tie on the possession where they were stopped on 4th down in FG range before the Swift fumble by running into Brown.

So, the offense would need to move the ball, milk the clock all the way down and we win the game on the foot of Jake Elliott.

yeah thats possible. but I kept thinking we had just 1 drive left in us at some point in the Jets game, and it never happened.

Lol. Sure it did.

I hope they mentioned it because he chewed their asses for how many almost-backbreaking mistakes they made today.

They had it... but Hurts threw it away.   And he looked defeated coming off the field after that play.  I didn't expect them to pull it out with a TD at the end after that.

Shees. Allen is a rough watch these days.

yeah its not black and white. I said in my post, it opens up our whole playbook on our overtime drive then so maybe our offense looks different. But again, I thought we would have one drive in us during that Jets game, and they were just never able to find it again the whole 2nd half. So who knows if we could have turned it back on in this game.

Him running out of bounds was a big time game changer.

Oh man, what a huge win.

Is there a reason why we can’t run for ish against anyone now? Swift with 2.4 YPC with 18 rushes against a bad run defense is wild

I think with hurts Injuries teams are just keying on the RB on the RPOs.

The Right side of the O line has t been great,Lane still looks a bit gimpy and isn't getting much push, Dickerson not sure what's up with him but he's not destroying guys like he was last year.

Maybe defenses have just caught up to the running scheme, I mean the eagles have like 3 running plays so the chances the D is going to guess right and get the tecmo bowl blitz is higher.😉

Yes. We should be running Pistol at least 5 times a game. I truly don't get why we don't do it.

Aesthetically, running from under center just looks better to me. RB gets a head of steam heading to the line versus taking the ball stationary in shotgun. The outside zone runs out of shotgun with linemen pulling is a bread and butter play for them (Gainwell TD). Not a lot of success running inside recently though.

It’s another second for the DL to collapse the gaps.

Yup, I've been calling for the pistol for weeks, especially with a guy like penny who is a down hill runner who would benefit from the run up to the hand off, instead of standing still in the shot gun.

Plus in pistol the d can't key in on the direction of the run.

I've seen them run pistol like twice all year and it worked for positive yards.

Wish they'd run it more

He reminds me of Randall, 5 big plays a game ...

Hoping Jalen Carter finds his early season magic again because he’s been kinda non existent lately

he was in on one of those sacks late in the game.

He's banged up, nicked up knee ankle back.

The bye will be good for him.

The one with sweat?  I wouldn’t call him in on that - he dove into Dak after he was already down

Jordan Davis too. He was hot out of the gate but just meh since wether it’s play or injury.

Half the roster needs the bye right now. He had the ankle then the back. Feels like most guys were running on fumes the past few weeks.

Sweat got there first, but I think Carter clearly won that rep against his OL.

Regardless, I think the back affected him but it was good to see him come alive a little bit in crunch time.

I think he will be ready to go after the bye.

Got half a sack at least.

His hammy is whacky...

Teams can't run on us because of Jordan Davis. He's doing his job.
