What? Kelce is maybe the greatest receiving TE to play the game and you want to throw out a stiff UDFA LB to cover him

and the right answer then, if not vansumeren, is?   Vansumeren is big and fast and strong enough.  There are agility questions, but Vansumeren and Kelce are closely matched (Kelce is better) on the 3 cone and shuttle.   Vansumeren is ahead on the strength and speed.

I would argue that Kelce would have a fairly great size advantage over DBs and a speed advantage over many LBs.   But Vansumeren and Nolan Smith are very fast linebackers with strong legs,  big jumpers.   I'm not guaranteeing success, I would think there would be Vansumeren and Nolan Smith trying to cover Goedert in practice.  Kelce has a 4.61 40 Vans 4.45, Smith 4.39.   Kelce has a 35 vert, Vans 42.5.   Physically, Vansumeren should be able to keep up with him.   It's not clear that he's developed the good football player part to that degree,  but the Eagles should be training him to cover tes.

Nah. His number is the only one on Sirianni’s visor. He’s done.

I thought people said he could be back late December

If they think he can be back in 4 weeks have a chance to avoid IR. Bye, KC, Buf and SF would be 4 weeks. Means he’d be back for Dallas. However I’m guessing it’s likely closer to a 5-6 week injury so IR is more likely and seattle or giants game makes the most sense

What other things could hace happened to get the MRI? Freaking had to happen one week after the deadline.

Isn't there some way the Eagles can take one of those versatile freakbeasts and teach them how to cover tight ends?  Nolan Smith, Ben VanSumeren both aren't playing much and both have the kind of size and speed you'd want to cover TEs.

I'll do VanSumeren v Kelce.  Nolan Smiths numbers are even better than VanSumerens.  https://ras.football/ras-compare/?&p1=10944&p2=23189&pos=TE

Kelce is bigger, as a 255 te v a 231 lb.  all of VanSumerens numbers are better,  402010benchvertbroad. but kelces 3 and shuttle are a tiny bit better.  I think VanSumeren can be trained to cover Kelce and other TEs.   The numbers are there.  I would think TE is the ideal position for Vansumeren to cover,  and big WRs.   shifty rbs would be difficult. In the preseason he was chasing after Keaton Mitchell, who had a 60 yard run and a 40 yard td run today,  on 9 carries.  He didn't catch Mitchell, but he kept pace for some yards, Vansumeren should be able to hang with TEs and bigger, less agile WRs.

Kelce said KB usually matches up well with him

Hurts is in a lot ways the Anti-McNabb - Plays his best ball in clutch time and consistently beats winning teams.

See if there’s any ligament damage.

I don’t hate grant Williams anymore. What a troll job

Yeah, but which I mean that could possibly end his season

Guessing Stoll remains TE#2 but from a receiving side they will rely more on Albert O /  Calcaterra, as well as seeing more designed plays for Julio.

Don't think there is much left by the way of FA if he is missing extend time. From the top of my head OJ Howard (think he is just a name now), Cameron Brate, Not sure who else is out there

RandomRainman wanting to put the UDFA rookie on the best TE in the league. Every time I think you’ve typed the dumbest post you’ve ever done, you manage to 1-up yourself.

Could.  Depends on what the MRI shows. If no damage and just a fracture it’s 4-6 weeks. I lean more towards the 5-6.

That would be people hoping for illogical reasons

4-6 weeks on IR for Goedert.

Likely back for Seattle.

Not great timing as we are in the tough part of the schedule.

Need others to step up in their roles (Julio, Z, Albert O etc), and imperative to get the run game going again. D's will really key in on stopping the two outside guys now.

How dumb must the Panthers feel every time Stroud highlights get played? Kid is gonna be OROY. 14 TDs to 1 INT and over 2200 passing yards. I love DeMeco and Tank Dell. Gonna be a fun team to watch in a year or two.

Howie knew they needed death there last week an chose to do nothing

He also has the remarkable trait of being able to throw to a WR above knee level.

They did trade for albert O before the season. Frankly we need to develop our own better or we need to take one higher in the draft cause goedert is about to miss 4 or more games in a season for the 3rd time in 4 years

Yeah, but he obviously sucks or they would have dressed him.

Jalen is now 2nd in MVP Odds. If they somehow beat KC, he becomes the prohibitive favourite.

He also joined the team the week of the first game. I’m guessing they don’t trust him enough with the playbook and he’s really not a good blocker. So Stoll would be ahead of him on depth chart for those two reasons. but he was active today cause Calcaterra was out.

Thinking ahead and about the AFC after the past few weeks, when we make the SB, I think the Bengals would be the worst stylistic match-up for us, much more so than Chiefs and Ravens who look like the other top teams..

Burrows looks less and less like the guy from the first two-three weeks with the hobbled ankle, and is rounding back into the pin-point passer who can hit quick throws with deadly accuracy, And they have so much talent at receiver, that could exploit this back seven. Would put even more pressure on the D-line and our O coming up big, as its likely a shoot out.

Re. Chiefs: Mahomes is amazing and can create magic but as D we could really focus on Kelce. Their WR group is one of the few I would have confidence our corners would be OK going up against. Re Ravens: their strength on O with the run game mirrors our strength on D.

I am happy with Steen and Brown but Dell was one of my guys in the draft. Wanted him to replace Quez long-term - glad to see him doing well.

Rasul Douglas???? F it, we could probably use him.  What are Sidney Jones and Jalen Mills up to?

Sidney Jones is on the Bengals practice squad. You could sign him instead of Josiah Scott I guess but I dont think the Eagles are going down that road again.

Jalen Mills is on the Pats

How the F was this not a penalty....isn't this the Tom Brady - you can't go low on QBs
