They got weaker at DL however you slice it.

This team is well coached.  We didn't win these games when Andy was here.  Something about the whole team's mindset on Sundays.

He really isn't. The numbers were posted earlier. Statistically, this is the same offense as last year. They actually have more points scored through nine games than they did last year. It's the turnovers that make them a worse offense than they were last year. And that's on the players.

The middle of the defense was an obvious weakness going into the season they got made much worse when Maddox when out.  There aren't great solutions at LB. Have to hope that Roby & Byard getting comfortable help.  Also Bradberry & Slay look beat up so bye should help.  The team is 8-1 tho in case some didn't notice

They somehow almost managed to score with time to spare. They almost scored with like 20 seconds left. They didn't even need the full 50 seconds. It was almost the biggest melt down I've ever seen watching this team. I can't really think of a more futile starting unit than this secondary in the past 20 years. The early Reid receiving group was awful, linebackers in 2020 were poor. Those Billy Davis defenses under Chip were pretty bad. But this secondary unit is an absolute disaster.

And just a few weeks ago they handled Miami with ease. Go figure.

Just getting back to Brian Johnson. He’s new to playcalling in the NFL. The red zone and situational playcalling has been an adventure, but the offense is statistically more efficient based on points per drive.

Can we have just the teeniest amount of patience? Goodness people.

He's also not depending on Hurts as a glorified RB, he's turning Hurts into an elite pocket QB who can use his legs to buy time and make plays when necessary, but he's not taking the beating this year he took the last couple years. That's not an easy transition, and I think it's still a work in progress, for example, they probably haven't even started on developing a good screen game or wrinkles to play action to work off Hurts in the pocket. And Hurts is still working on pocket presence and making multiple reads - his athleticism may have limited his development since college HCs tend to exploit that, and so did the RO his first couple seasons at the expense of improving his pocket skills.

And their best WR wasn't in it.  Not sure how  the Cowboys thought he was going to get through the wall of defenders.

Did they have a guy in the area for a lateral? Still seems far fetched...

The Eagles are now 13th overall in RZ percentage (56%) and are 5th in the league over the last 3 games (71%).

The run game is suffering as Hurts is no longer a threat to keep the ball.  They have two weeks to figure out how to make a conventional run game succeed when the whole stadium knows you want to run the ball.

Solak touched on the running game last week in their pod. He said something similar things to what I brought up listening to the Lions podcast when they traded D’Andre Swift. Swift looked fantastic early in the year. he was hitting those holes and taking the yards that were there. Lately he’s not been doing that as much and trying to make more when it’s not there and it’s resulted in even less yards. Don’t get me wrong the run blocking hasn’t been great since jurgens went down and hurts not being able to run as much also hurts in that area. But some of the things he had troubles with the lions have been popping up more over the past couple weeks.

gainwell actually had nice runs in this game. Was one of the better gainwell games in quite awhile

Yes he is. The last few drives prove it. Anyone watching this team this season knows it. Hurts carries him.

Four touchdowns out of six possessions when they were trying to score.

Struggled to run the ball against a top 5 defense in the fourth quarter.

Yup, he definitely sucks.

I'm trying to figure out what everyone is looking for these days in a LB since the Eagles are 'so bad at LB'. Eagles are tops in the league in run defense... what else are you looking for in LB play?

He's still taking the beating.

It’s a mute point because of the penalty, but wasn’t sure if that was a below 2 minutes or 5 minutes rule… I expected @Iggles_Phan to confirm 3,2,1…

It is a last 5 minutes of the half rule, iirc.  Otherwise, outside of that the clock will restart (if stopped by the action described before) when the ball is spotted for play, as directed by the referee.

The ability to cover a tightend.  But that's easier said than done especially if the DL gives the QB time

The funniest thing is the thinks their problem is a lack of a running back and not the idiot head coach.

Some of you could win 100 million in the lottery and spend the next day complaining about the taxes you have to pay

There aren't many LBs in the league that can cover TEs. Hell there aren't many Safeties that can cover TEs either. The emphasis in contact rules changed everything. Best case scenario for LBs in coverage is that they make the tackles and limit YAC. You're not going to see a ton of PBUs from LBs in this era.

He isn’t wrong. Neither are you. They need a running back. They need a coach. They need a new owner. The list goes on and on.

Eh, I guess, but I mean, Reed was right there as it is, and if he stems out deeper, who's to say that extra step doesn't give Reed a chance to make a play on it.

Possible... issue seemed to be a bad rub by Ferguson on the play.  Olson pointed it out during the game, Ferguson went too deep is how he explained it... but maybe Ferguson hit his landmark and Schoonmaker is the one who didn't go deep enough to meet the mesh point and stop Reed from being able to undercut Ferguson like he did.   Seems like Dallas definitely didn't execute that play well one way or the other... and Reed played it as well as he could... end result - stopped short of the goal line.

If anyone wants to see a bonafide football play, watch Cam Akers light up a DT on one of Dobb's scrambles in their game yesterday. Dude straight up ragdolled a guy who had 100lbs on him.

EDIT: it was Street, lol. So not giving up 100 lbs, but still impressive nonetheless.
