3. DeAndre Swift, hold on to the damn ball please.

6. We're better with Morrow on the field, not Dean.

8. Bradberry is still good, but he's a far cry from last year. That PI just can't happen.

9. Brandon Graham saved the game. And then Josh Sweat did. It's kinda amazing how the defensive line can find a way to close out games.

Good list.

(3) DeAndre Swift -- I'm really concerned about his fumbling problem.  Guys get benched for a lot less.  He needs to hang on to the ball or we need to find a better option, period.

(6) Sad, but true.  Seems like I only notice when Dean is doing stupid things, and that's not a good thing.  Dean is young and he may improve with playing time.

(8) WTF was that DPI.  My 9 year old (Eagle fanboy) son was incredulous at that call, but it was clear, blatant and obvious.  How TF do you even do that and end up getting hurt because you interfered so hard?

(9) OMG, yes.  Father time, BG.  That was amazing.  DL came up bigtime.

Cause that isn’t a potential issue with the secondary going forward? Just saying the commanders did the same thing Dallas did against Bradberry in week 8 when they went 72 yards and got a touchdown in 43 seconds. They just completed the pass instead of getting a PI.

I have to go back and see what exactly the Defense that was called but given the situation of 46 seconds and no timeouts left, I have to imagine it was don’t allow anybody to get behind you and beat you deep. lost that battle. Secondly, as a veteran, you have to know a penalty is being called if you never turn your head around to try and make a play. They’re gonna do a penalty flag every time doing what he did. That was a legitimate penalty. If he doesn’t make the penalty it’s very likely a big catch down the sideline

PI was one of those fluke things where the pass was under thrown and Bradberry's knee got caught up and he couldn't get turned around. WR had late hands so that's a tough spot. I was expecting more help over the top though in that situation but I guess our safety had other responsibilities or just couldn't get there.

I brought this up last night, but it really wasn’t a bad play by Bradberry. The PI call on an underthrown ball is one of the worst calls in the game. The defender can’t do anything about it when the receiver comes back into him. It shouldn’t be a penalty and you shouldn’t reward the offense on a poor, underthrown ball. Quarterbacks know they can get that call and purposefully throw balls like that to take advantage of the rule.

Just saying he was part of their issues in pass defense. Their offense was by far a bigger trash  then their defense was. Defense is 11th in he league in ppg giving up 20ppg (.01 away from top 10). Pass defense is middle of the pack and so is Run defense. Their offense is where they are inept

We are in week 9 and he hasn’t been the same player he was in 2021 and 2022 so far. That’s just facts. He’s not awful by any means but he’s not playing at the pro bowl level here or with the titans. Maybe he turns it around but half way through the season he hasn’t. I am hoping he’s not and the bye week and being in the system more helps him get back to closer to where he was. but I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility he might just be starting his decline or just having a down year from the past 2 years.

The safety position is really impacted with the play that's around them. I'm going to wait before I say he's unsuccessful here since he's picking up a new system and learning new personnel. Expectations are probably too high out of the box when we've seen this secondary struggle mightily with cohesiveness before he even got here.

Just saying, Bradberry got beat. I don’t know if he thought he had safety help over the top or he just got beat. Usually with the 46 seconds left and no timeouts left you want to keep everything in front of you. So I’m guessing he probably thought he had safety help. If he allows for him to catch it considering wasn’t a safety close by that play might have gone for even more than the 36 yards

Where did I say he was unsuccessful? I said he wasn’t the same player he was in 2021 and 2022 with the titans and now here. Which has been true. I know everyone hates pff but his grade on 2021 was 90 and last year just under 80. This year it’s 67. That doesn’t mean he can’t be better with more time in the system and more time with the team. But I’m not gonna sugarcoat it. He has not been the same player he was the last two years so far this year.

It’ll be fascinating to see how the secondary looks with Roby playing full-time nickel snaps and maybe with Dean not rotating in. We’re playing Brown out of position and rotating Ricks in on passing downs. Maybe that is great in the long run for their development, but it’s a mess. The linebacker rotation is a little weird, but I hope eventually we can get to the point where Brown is playing as a nickel LB on clear passing downs rather than Cunningham.

We just need to let things settle for a few weeks and have some damn continuity.

This is true.  The offense for as well as it played gave the Cowboys too many opportunities at the end.  Defense had to be dog tired but still found a way (barely) but in the end a glorious win

Maybe Justin Evans comes back too.  He was actually decent

I disagree. Stopping the run is just as important now as it was decades ago. It's a key indicator of who is winning in the trenches. LBs are going to be weak by nature against the pass in this era. The newly enforced rules don't allow them to man handle receivers and TEs like they did in the past. There may be a handful of decent coverage LBs in the entire league. It's just not how things evolved. To me the LBs role has changed tremendously to someone that can stop the run and limit YAC because they're not going to get PBUs and stop the pass game entirely. Hell the safeties can barely cover these guys these days that's why we're starting to see big dime concepts and the extinction of the box safeties. The days of having a Carlos Emmons type that can limit TEs are far gone. People need to understand that and readjust their lens when it comes to the LB position.

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for a LB that can be more serviceable in coverage than Cunningham or Morrow. As it stands now, they are a big liability in defending the pass (yes, even with this extremely forgiving standard you have applied for NFL LBs.)

I'm assuming you mean PBUs in the middle of the field because they are making the tackles in the middle of the field for the most part. Not many LBs doing that type of thing in this League in this Era.

Making the tackle after the reception is nice.   Stopping the reception from happening at all would be the better result.   And I don't need them to stop it every time, but the middle of this defense has by and large been wide open each and every week for easy pitch and catch throws... which is why opposing QBs have such high completion percentages against the Eagles.

Ricks has a bright future. Not sure if that's full-time starter future, but getting beat by Lamb in your rookie season is not shameful. Ricks has swagger though and I think plays the ball well.

Also believe strongly Maddox will return before the regular season ends.

Too wrapped up in stuff to catch up on this thread since the end of the game. Gonna take me a while to navigate.

Just as an FYI, I'm not sure I've been to an Eagles-Cowboys game in the past twenty years when there was LESS of a Cowboys fan base present. I was expecting there to be a large, loud Cowboys contingent but there wasn't. It was quite odd. Hell, there were more Dolphins fans a couple weeks ago than there were Cowboys fans yesterday. I liked it.

I'm sure a lot of our fans are upset about the win because, well,  it wasn't pretty enough and we made it dangerous at the end. But I like to take a more optimistic approach. We're 8-1 and haven't really started to click yet. Just wait til we start putting it together.

Bye weeks are fun when you're coming off a win and have a healthy divisional lead.

I'm assuming the news on Goedert isn't going to be good. I'm just hoping it isn't dire (won't be back at all).

Curious what people thought of Steen. My sense was that it was positive.

Carry on.

Depends on the offensive personnel, if they come out with 11 personnel, I'd rather have at least one true LB on the field even in 3rd and 10 situations.

I'm optimistic the secondary and Desai will get even better once they get some chemistry. Way too many moving parts the last few weeks.

I asked about him last night and was told he wasn't coming back. I thought there was a chance, though.

My biggest concern with Bradley Roby is can he stay healthy. He’s older and he played like1.5 games and now has been out for three consecutive weeks. Last year he missed 4.

Again... not many LBs in the league covering TEs well. Tough ask. That's the scheme.

Watch other teams that aren't the 49ers and their LBs aren't doing all that much coverage either.

He does though probably not as a slot.  Roby is the only guy they have that is a slot besides Scott who they obviously hate. Shows how desperate they were to sign him.

Eagles pass defense rankings:

Yards: 32nd
Pass TDS: 31st
Passing 1st downs: 32nd
Int: 31st

This is right there with the Bears as the NFL’s worst pass defense.  And considering the front 4 and ball control offense we have, they very well may be the nfl’s worst secondary.
