On the false start penalty on Kelce, it looked to me like he was trying to sucker the Dallas DL witha tiny flicker of movement, but got caught.

Cheaters never win and Winners never (get caught) cheating.

Watch other teams that aren't the 49ers and their LBs aren't doing all that much coverage either.

There's a reason why we are one of, if not the worst pass defense in the league and the flaws of our LBs are partially at fault. The vast majority of teams don't have the talent at DL that we do, and a lot of them have worse corners too and yet, we can't seem to be able to slow down QBs from hanging 300+ yds against us.

Penny... 2 snaps, 2 carries on the first 2 plays of the 2nd half.   Some weird #2 obsession, then he disappeared again.   So, the question is WHY?  Why did he get the first two snaps of the 2nd half (and look decent) and then disappear forever again?

Their usage of Penny (or non-usage) continues to be beyond baffling.

They need to start using Penny more as the closer.  I have watched a lot of him.  He is a good north/south runner who doesn't do a lot of dancing.

Swift is good to start the game with his speed and shiftiness but Penny could be the guy to move the chains when everybody in the stadium knows we are trying to run out the clock.

Yes. One LB. Not two. Cunningham should never be on the field in an obvious passing down. Morrow needs to be the guy with a safe next to him as the other "nickel backer,” if Desai wants to play nickel.

Unfortunately, Morrow leaves a lot to be desired too.

Penny had 2 carries for 9 yards and I don't think we saw him again.  I would have liked to have had him in for the last series.

If that's true then I truly don't understand why he hasn't played all season

Exactly. Mahomes is was stirs the drink. Hey,  they could put you and me out there and they have a nice offense. But I watch all the Chiefs games as am married to Chiefs fan. Their offense is not as good as last year. Mahomes has been playing hero ball at times. Upfront, RT is not good. LT is better but not great. Their best and most clutch WR is Justin Watson. Andy Reid's play design and Mahomes is what keeps them tough. But they haven't been good lately and bad in the RZ. The rub here is that their defense may be their best yet in Mahomes era and Spags is aggressive at perfect times. Dee keeps them in every game. I think we can stop the run and run on them. And eke a game out in KC if everyone is rested and healthy. Most prominently Hurts and our D-Line/Cornerbacks. And a refreshed Swift and healthy Jurgens.

Surprised that they didnt use Milton Williams more as much as the Cowboys passed.  A little too much Cox (no pun intended).  I think we should bring back Suh on the bye week.  They aren't using Tuipulotu.  I think Suh offers more on the roster.

Yeah tui hasn't done much.

Suh can't be worse right?

Dak killed them yesterday extending plays by moving in and out of the pocket. Mahomes is the master at that and will definitely have his way with this defense. Pass rush has to get home.

True. He will get his. But we have to wait for the turnover cuz with lack of great talent around him he's really stretching plays and getting hit pretty good with any good opposing D-lines. Yeah his scrambles are scary in getting key first downs on important drives. Finds the gap every time. It's annoying. Lol

I am not sure how this isn't the most obvious take on the Cowboys' loss.  It's a combination of Dak and McCarthy.  I mean Dak lost a playoff game because they ran out of time.  They don't know how to win close games.  Dak doesn't have good composure and McCarthy doesn't have a plan.

Bold call time -- it's on the board that Dallas' season falls apart after this game. They played as well as they can and came up short against a banged up team playing at best a B- game. More specifically -- we TRIED to hand this game more than once, and they couldn't take it. Listening to them and all the talking heads afterwards, and they're basically acting like they won. They won't actually lose to the Giants next week, but they're going to come out flat. Dallas is most vulnerable when they are feeling themselves, and they are basically acting like they won the game.

At some point it's going to sink in that they blew their season because they couldn't take a game we were handing to them.

It's dime if there are 6db's.  I think they like Cunningham because of his reach.  I actually didn't think he played poorly.  Ricks got killed inside against Lamb.

He's like PJ Tucker right now. Just getting his cardio in to be ready for playoffs. We will see more of him and Brandon Graham from here on out.

It's frustrating, his first carry was with hurts under center just a simple zone run and Penny hit the hole for about 7 yards, then his next carry they run shotgun inside zone and he only gets a couple then we never see him again .

Penny isn't a line up in shotgun take a handoff standing still type of runner.

He's a down hill stick your foot in the ground and go, yet the eagles don't want to use him like that where as of that's the case why even sign him if he doesn't fit what you do on offense???

BJ IMHO has no clue how to use his players to the best of their abilities, he's square pegging penny.

If he doesn't want to line up under center to get penny that he full head of steam to the hand off then line him up in pistol which accomplished the same thing And dues t deviate much from regular shotgun formation.

Personally Iike pistol more anyway as it doesn't give the D a cur as to which direction the Run is going.

Maybe they work on it on the bye and we see Penny getting a few more carries out of pistol or from under center where they could also roll hurts out on it.

Having said that the play where swift came in motion and got the ball with Gainwell leading In front was I think the first time they've run a jet sweep all year.

Good play design with swift running it and great block by Kenny G who also on Kenny gs TD was the hardest I've seen him run all year, where's that juice been all year?🤔

I tend to agree re: Penny.  The guy is also fragile and would never last a full season.  So it makes sense to keep him in mothballs for half the year, then hope to get half a season out of him when it matters.

The shotgun ROs are a bit tougher for bigger backs as they typically don't have the quick burst to accelerate to the hole (they rather build momentum via conventional handoff).  That said, a hobbled QB probably doesn't mind skipping 5-7 step drops and staying shotgun.

Too wrapped up in stuff to catch up on this thread since the end of the game. Gonna take me a while to navigate.

Just as an FYI, I'm not sure I've been to an Eagles-Cowboys game in the past twenty years when there was LESS of a Cowboys fan base present. I was expecting there to be a large, loud Cowboys contingent but there wasn't. It was quite odd. Hell, there were more Dolphins fans a couple weeks ago than there were Cowboys fans yesterday. I liked it.

I'm sure a lot of our fans are upset about the win because, well,  it wasn't pretty enough and we made it dangerous at the end. But I like to take a more optimistic approach. We're 8-1 and haven't really started to click yet. Just wait til we start putting it together.

Bye weeks are fun when you're coming off a win and have a healthy divisional lead.

I'm assuming the news on Goedert isn't going to be good. I'm just hoping it isn't dire (won't be back at all).

Curious what people thought of Steen. My sense was that it was positive.

Carry on.

Steen was solid. Had some nice moments and the one whiff vs Parsons.

Yup. They seem to have a plan with certain guys. I'll also add Nolan Smith & Ojomo to who they bring out more. Some good internal reinforcements coming, which will help rest the starters some. Let's keep in mind, the last 3 weeks of the season with Giants and Cards & hopefully HFA (bye week) should allow less reps for alot of these overworked and hurting guys. Hope they can clinch by that time, maybe 2nd to last game. This will allow Goedert to fully recover as well. Need at worst, 2-3 here for next 5 games. Can see 3-2 realistically.

I think he settled down as the game went on, better in pass protection than run - obviously better at handing the DTs than Mike Parson.  Good he got some experience - but he didn't challenge Jurgens IMO.
