I just love those jerseys

I don't think it's really being a fan favorite. Why have him on the roster if you aren't going to use him for 8 weeks

That's the life of the bottom of the roster player

Speaking of which, I'm wondering if there has ever been another Eagles player who became such a fan favorite without actually having done anything?

I just think its weird he started the 2nd half like they were going to do something with him and then never was seen again. He didn't look slow like he did in preseason.

Intrigued to see how Albert O steps in. I think Stoll keeps his role and Albert takes Goedert's role, no? He's made some nice plays in his career

Im hoping AO has had enough time in stoudland university to at least be solid at getting in the way pretty good.

You cant replace Goedert with one player. Stoll can handle the blocking, and AO can handle the receiving. If AO is a half decent blocker yet after some time with Stout we will be pretty ok.

I was just about to mention Mann. Feel like his name hasn't been brought up the past 2-3 weeks, which is always a good thing for punters. Looks like the Steelers released the wrong one since Pressley Harvin hasn't been doing too well for them.

In all they have to go 6-2 over the rest of the season. Which is pretty tough. They should be able to do it. But its not quite as easy as the tweet makes it sound they way they have it broken down.

There's a reason why we are one of, if not the worst pass defense in the league and the flaws of our LBs are partially at fault. The vast majority of teams don't have the talent at DL that we do, and a lot of them have worse corners too and yet, we can't seem to be able to slow down QBs from hanging 300+ yds against us.

The vast majority of teams don't have Fangio based schemes either. It's the scheme... this is what they choose to do. We've seen it all year with plays that they give up and are just willing to 'live with'. Not much different from what we've seen from other coordinators here in recent times. Bend but don't break like it or not that is the style of this defensive scheme and what the Eagles are bringing to the table. It's still a Fangio scheme after all no matter what face you put on it and this is what the HC and the organization wants. Too much blame around these parts are going to the LBs when the secondary cohesiveness and lack of starting slot CB are the true issues. I just want them to be physical when making the stops because with this style of D they aren't going to be limiting teams a ton from marching up and down the field. There's a reason they don't dial up the blitzes because it's a known that the secondary can't hold up consistently. You don't want long drives that potentially stall in the redzone to turn into quick TDs. I'm of the opinion if there weren't musical chairs in the secondary Desai would be throwing more complex looks out there but you can't do that when they can't even get the basics down.

49ers, Seahawks, and Dallas have some pretty tough games coming up as well. Detroit actually has the best schedule to compete with the Eagles but I can't see them running the table with a bunch of division games still coming and Dallas still on the schedule. Minny actually seems like they're trying to at least get into a wildcard spot as they are still alive.

They need to start using Penny more as the closer.  I have watched a lot of him.  He is a good north/south runner who doesn't do a lot of dancing.

Swift is good to start the game with his speed and shiftiness but Penny could be the guy to move the chains when everybody in the stadium knows we are trying to run out the clock.

That's what I was thinking... and I was happy to see him in the 2nd half to get into some sort of rhythm before the end of the game... then he got the first two carries and I was even happier.  Then he went back into the witness protection program.

Penny had 2 carries for 9 yards and I don't think we saw him again.  I would have liked to have had him in for the last series.

The snap counts showed he had exactly 2 snaps.

But that’s only if Dallas wins out against Seattle, Detroit, Philly again, Buffalo, Miami, Washington, Washington again. We’re more likely to win out than they are.

Dak killed them yesterday extending plays by moving in and out of the pocket. Mahomes is the master at that and will definitely have his way with this defense. Pass rush has to get home.

Pass rush has to keep him contained AND get home.    Stay in your lane, or run stunts to refill lanes that are abandoned.

The shotgun ROs are a bit tougher for bigger backs as they typically don't have the quick burst to accelerate to the hole (they rather build momentum via conventional handoff).  That said, a hobbled QB probably doesn't mind skipping 5-7 step drops and staying shotgun.

Use the pistol.   Eliminate the RO while Hurts is banged up, and run from the pistol with Penny.

Seems like something that can be worked on over the bye, and they used it sparingly already yes?

It's clear the coaches don't trust him. I'd really like to see him, or Scott, get carries in the 4 minute offense with Hurts under center. We aren't using the RPO, and I just don't like Swift in those situations (ball security). Hurts under center, run behind Mailata and Dickerson.

Yet they talk about not losing trust in Gainwell after he fumbles... or in Swift, who fumbled twice yesterday.   How much worse can Penny be than fumbling like these guys have been?

Ok, so let's suppose they go 5-3 and 2-3 in the next five.  The Cowboys would then need to go 8-1 and win a tie breaker based on all 3 Eagles losses being in the NFC.  Eagles are in a very good spot though they need at least 2 over the next 5.

Is he a fan favorite or is he an enigma that people are trying to figure out... and he's also 'not Gainwell'.

I was a little surprised they went so heavy with Cox and Carter. Davis is clearly still dealing with the hammy since he's had his lowest snap counts the past 2 weeks and Williams was very close to a season low in snaps too. I'd like to see Ojomo get the nod over Tui. Feel he can play more snaps and help better in rotation.

Davis and Williams are banged up. This bye week came at a perfect time.

Josh Sweat feels like Trent Cole 2.0. Probably won't ever be considered the top of his position, but he's going to end up being a 10-year starter for this team. Reliable, steady, and valuable.

He had that high IQ STs play too on the KR penalty. Does that count? :)

This is big.  Arguably Siposs cost us the Super Bowl with the terrible shank in the 3rd Q, and Mann was shaky when we first got him.  Hope he has stabilized the position for us.

Its not as hard as it sounds either.   3-2 over the next 5 means this:  Win the home games, split with Dallas/Seattle.  That's all it takes... then sweep the Giants and beat the Cardinals.   The last 3 should be easy enough to do, though if it means nothing, the Eagles can sit players and drop that last game.

Winning the home games means beating the 49ers and Bills... that's certainly doable in the Linc.  Likely won't be pretty, but can be done.   Need to clean up these ridiculous turnovers, and you'd think that eventually the defense would generate SOME turnovers, just as a function of pressuring the QB, that should happen more than it has.  Splitting with Dallas/Seattle is tougher... because this team in recent history hasn't played well in either place.

It only counts for ST snaps, not Offensive stats.   But, it WAS a high IQ ST play.  Well done by him to know exactly what to do there.

The craziest one I've ever seen was this one by Ty Montgomery.

Solak touched on the running game last week in their pod. He said something similar things to what I brought up listening to the Lions podcast when they traded D’Andre Swift. Swift looked fantastic early in the year. he was hitting those holes and taking the yards that were there. Lately he’s not been doing that as much and trying to make more when it’s not there and it’s resulted in even less yards. Don’t get me wrong the run blocking hasn’t been great since jurgens went down and hurts not being able to run as much also hurts in that area. But some of the things he had troubles with the lions have been popping up more over the past couple weeks.

gainwell actually had nice runs in this game. Was one of the better gainwell games in quite awhile

Which is what frustrates me. Why limit him to 3 carries if he's playing well?
