Dave Zangaro had a great line in his podcast.

"It feels like the day after the Super Bowl, we're going to be saying, 'Well, sure, they won, but when is this team going to play a complete game.'"

I'm guilty of saying that! But how can we not think, what could this team do if they played a complete game?"

They just know how to win and it's really impressive to watch. I don't know how much of that falls on Nick or if it's a Jalen thing. Someone said it earlier, but this team is winning games that previous Eagles teams would have lost. I just want to see them dominate from start to finish on every level. I'm waiting for the DL to feast on an opponent all game long. This team is capable of walking all over teams and that's my expectation. I probably come off negative because I want the best out of this team and I know we haven't come close to seeing it yet.

I don't think it's negative considering that everyone feels the exact same way.

Right.  At some point don't we just accept that the team isn't going to be perfect, but they are resilient, don't give up and have the talent and variety to win in multiple different ways?

I hate that they keep making some of the same mistakes, but if they overcome that by doing well in other areas or closing out games and winning..."winning is the only thing that matters."

We've been waiting for this tough stretch of games.  They already dominated Miami and beat Dallas.  Now after the bye let's see how they do.  If they win most of the games of this tough stretch does it matter if it's "ugly?"  There aren't style points in the playoff seeding.

The counter for this argument is should always be: If it should be illegal, why doesn't everybody do it?

The answer is because Kelce + Hurts make this look easy, but it's actually not.

I think it’s more Dickerson and Mailata than it is Kelce. That’s about 700 pounds of human power on the left side in front of a powerful quarterback.

6) Jalen Hurts rushes to more history

It wasn't pretty, but Jalen Hurts and the Eagles survived a Cowboys comeback to improve to 8-1 and retain the NFL's best record.

Hurts tied the game at 14 in the second quarter with a 1-yard rushing touchdown, the 33rd of his career -- breaking Randall Cunningham's franchise record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback.

That touchdown also tied Cam Newton for the most via rushing by a quarterback in their first four seasons in NFL history.

Thirty of Hurts' 33 rushing touchdowns have come since 2021 -- more than any other player in that span, regardless of position.

warning...really loud & screechy...a couple "bad words" as well.

So what’s wrong with our run game and how did we become so bad at it? I know most are going to point at Jurgens being out but I just find it hard to believe an undersized RG is the key to make this thing go.

It looks like teams are playing heavy boxes against us. I haven't done a deep dive into it, but that's the sense I get.

I think it was Solak, or maybe Jonny Page, thinks the run game is awfully vanilla now that we’ve taken most of the Hurts stuff out of the playbook. I think teams have sniffed out our three or so bread and butter plays.

I love the people saying the Eagles never play a complete game. Chiefs have won 2 Superbowls playing a lot of incomplete games. Especially their 1st one. They were constantly down at half time that year. And in the playoffs. I think we have to be more realistic here. You just don't steamroll teams in the NFL as often as you want or think.

Hurts isn't as much of a threat to run.  Defenses don't have to key on him at all really to run.

Why not? Opeta doesn't move well and Steen is raw. Neither guy pulls well and our bread and butter for years has been the outside zone. The answer is that Jurgens really is that good and the other guys are not. And, as Manu says, Hurts run stuff is out.

Agree with this.

I would change the perspective to "call a complete game" instead of play a complete game. More on the OCs than on the players not executing.

Where can I get that hat?

If it's on Amazon, don't forget to use our affiliate link! :D

I don’t care about playing a complete game.  I know the offense and DL are good enough.  I care about a secondary that is a giant funnel to the red zone on every possession.

RandomRainman wanting to put the UDFA rookie on the best TE in the league. Every time I think you’ve typed the dumbest post you’ve ever done, you manage to 1-up yourself.

You're missing the point I'm making, despite the fact that I made it clear enough for even you to understand.

Start with TESTING these things in practice.

I put up 2 players who aren't seeing much time.   VanSumeren and Nolan Smith.

Test it in practice, see if it works in practice against Goedert and other Eagles TEs, and if it does, try it in games.

It seems that every team has difficulties covering Kelce.  If you can get a similar result,  not necessarily a good one, you will be able to keep other players to do the things they can do good at.

Vansumeren and Nolan Smith both have superior athleticism, and both are at least somewhat raw. Nolan Smith is behind Reddick, so he's looking for things to do.

Isn't it an obvious combination of Jurgens being out and Jalen being injured. The main reason the holes were so huge early on was because teams were scared to death of Hurts taking off on the RPOs IMO. Not the case anymore. Gotta get yards the old fashioned way now and Opeta/Steen haven't exactly been dominant in the run game.

Oline had a poor game yesterday. At least what we're use to seeing

I think Jurgens is certainly part of the reason why, but I would be surprised if he’s the only reason why.

Disagree there I don't think the calls have been for the in players to fumble the ball around and run in to each other. There's definitely a poor execution by the players component in all of this.

I’m mostly asking if there is a non obvious reason

Watching around the nfl it feels like it’s not just an eagles thing. Falcons do crazy stuff with bijan. Yesterday i feel like I’m the early game I saw it a lot.

Not the organization we want to emulate.
