Lost in all this, or maybe just overlooked, but is just how good of a pocket passer Hurts is. Many of us were concerned that if he couldn’t be a runner that he wouldn’t be good enough from the pocket. We were wrong. Again.

No,  you don't use a proven good player on Kelce when that proven good player can't get it done.

Put Slay on him.  Slay won't get it done,  and whoever is replacing Slay won't be able to get it done.

And I should point out that what you're saying is incredibly lacking in specifics.  Thanks for something incredibly basic.

The Eagles have Nolan Smith and Vansumeren who both have the measurables to be able to cover a TE.  Maybe.  Test this theory in practice.  Many Safeties and CBs are too small to cover TEs.  Many LBs are too slow to cover TEs. Or are lacking some size, lacking some speed,  lacking some jumps.  But Nolan Smith and Vansumeren appear to have the size and speed and jumps.  That should tested on the practice field.  Those 2 players aren't playing,  so, you aren't taking a player away from a place where he is being used.

There has to be someone here who can actually say something really intelligent about the problems that the Eagles have,  and a lot of teams seem to have, covering TEs.   People criticizing me are not giving anything close to a good response.    "Kelce is dating Taylor Swift,  no one is bigger than Taylor Swift,  the Eagles might as well forfeit."  That's what I'm hearing.

I know that the world contains someone that can say something smart about covering TEs,  but so far, EMB does not contain that person,  but that person could pop up right here.

Maybe they can try Kelee Ringo on a TE.  Ringo is on the tall side for a CB  and very fast.  Test it first in practice, for those who complain about such things.

Ringo's stiff hips is not covering Kelce. We have no one on the team that can cover that man one on one.  Certainly not with a Mahomes that anticipates his routes like no other. Hell I don't think there is anyone in the league that can cover him one on one. Too big, too fast, too smart, too skilled. Gotta hope to contain him not stop him. Stop everyone else though. Gotta pick your battles.

Travis is a lot of things but I wouldn’t describe him as too smart

really proving that he is a good all around QB & doesnt have to rely solely on his running. love watching his game grow & develop more. losing the SB last year imo probably the best thing to happen to him. gave him a different type of hunger to be great.

See my above post. He's at his best when he's not running the ball. I think this offense is really holding back from what it can be. It just feels like they aren't even scratching the surface for what they can do. I don't know if it's a lack of creativity or just inexperience of calling a game on BJ's side of things but I feel like they aren't doing half of what they are capable of.

This is making him better.  The offense is better when he deals from the pocket than when he vacates it.

They need a 3rd wr.  If they had that, losing Goedert would be minimal impact.  Even with Hurts dealing and two pro bowl level WRs, you can only get so creative without a 3rd viable target.

You are recommending a UDFA who played FB at Michigan and then got bench playing LB at MSU to cover the best receiving TE ever because his combine numbers look good. Did you not once when you typed all this out, think this may be a dumb idea.

Go look up one of your combine tests and you will see Ringo is slow at moving left and right so sure lets put him on Kelce who makes up routes as he goes because he is that damn good.

Well, a lot of people looked at Hurts and pre-determined he couldn't win from the pocket...

Measurables can quickly translate into getting wide open and being a tough cover as a receiver (te or wr).  Measurables can quickly translate into some big open field plays for a RB.  Measurables can quickly translate into great pressure through sheer explosion for an edge rusher.

Measurables get you nowhere in coverage if you have zero skill set there.  Defending the wrong zone, carrying the wrong receiver, taking a false step forward, not looking back…it’s going to be absolute carnage.  It’s a great start to coach someone up for a couple red shirt years.  But a Nolan Smith can’t cover an all pro TE simply because he’s big and runs a 4.3.  It would be a massacre.

I wish they would get more creative with RB screens. Just feels like an unused option that could spring them for big chunks. That could camouflage the lack of WR3.

Some of those numbers feel like they don’t pass the eye test, namely Blankenship.  He was getting targeted and burnt all afternoon.  Maybe he was racking up points for tackling the guys catching balls over him and for a bs ff/fr on the last play.

I thought Milton Williams had a few nice pressures.

Color me shocked.

This was an elite screen team with Duce, Westbrook, and McCoy.  It wasn’t just the backs either…the OL was built for it.

Our current OL seems perfect for screens.  For whatever reason, we can’t run them effectively unless it’s with Goedert.  Not sure if that’s a RPO thing or what.  RB screens not effective here for a few years.

Yes.  Ravens are a pumpkin waiting for midnight.

That's what I don't get...once Jurgens is back, I can just see him and Kelce or Lane moving like huge TE's down the field. Or if they want to go the mauler route, run a screen to the other side with Mailata and Dickerson. The only screens they try are WR screens with DeVonta either blocking and getting blown up or DeVonta getting the ball and getting blown up. It doesn't make sense. I loved watching 22, 36 and 25 on screens. It was a work of art.

Agreed.  Time to run a more 'conventional' offense that has the wrinkle of his mobility, rather than one that is centered on it.

They're hot right now, regency bias.  The Dolphins opened the season 6-0, going on an absolute tear offensively and now they look very average.  The 49ers looked like the best team in the universe and Brock Purdy was gonna win MVP till they lost 3 games in a row, 2 of them to terrible teams.

Yup.  In October/November.

The best thing Brian Johnson/Hurts did all game was call deep shots once Micah was off the field.
