Mailata/Dickerson have been excellent run-blockers all season, but Kelce/RG/Johnson off the bum ankle are struggling. Getting Jurgens back + Lane getting healthier should help.

On the run play, it's also 7 against 6 because Jalen can't run. That's also a problem with all these shotgun runs.

Jalen not being a threat is the biggest problem IMO with the way the Eagles run the ball. They're going to need to change some things up if that continues to be the case. Time for some more Penny too.

I don’t know, it is possible to design a run game with the QB not always being a threat to run. I’m on the side of preferring Hurts to continue to develop into more of a pocket passer. We’ve seen him excel beyond pretty much everyone’s expectations in that realm and he’s only getting better at it. He’ll always have the run threat to him after the knee heels, but I don’t need to see him running 10-15 times per game anymore. Not every run has to be an RPO. In the playoffs, all bets are off and let him do whatever it takes. But they can’t rely on it throughout the regular season.

You would think with him throwing it around the yard that defenses would sacrifice a bit towards the run (I mean the safeties are high), yet our run game is in the doldrums.

Doesn't help that they're tripping all over themselves. A lot of it seems to be execution related with Jurgens out. Lane hasn't been the healthiest either. The ridiculously big holes and high ypc were because of the fear of Hurts though. DEs/OLBs had to respect it. Now they seem to pick their spots not as worried about Hurts because he's been gimpy and rather ineffective on the RPOs. Could be on to the Eagles tendencies as well.

No disagreement there... he doesn't need a ton of carries. Just needs to get a nice run in there every now and then to keep the defenses honest. Hard to do when he has a bum knee though.

Outside of the usual suspects on offense, I think Julio’s development in this scheme is going to be one of the most crucial pieces with Goedert out during this tough stretch. We’ve debated Quez vs. OZ and they’re basically one and the same. They’re both basically JAGs. But I’d like to see Julio fill the void of the Goedert role in the passing game. He’s a shell of his former self, but I think he can still make some plays especially in the red zone.

They have been very IZ dependent, and with the DE crashing it can be running in mud if a crease doesn’t open up quickly.

We did see some OZ with the Gainwell TD, and the jet sweep that worked for Swift on his long run and an AJ variation that almost fumbled away the game. So BJ might be adjusting to hobbled Hurts, but that’s also moving away from their bread and butter.

Lol. Love anything like Rob Maaddi loves Carson.

I was impressed that they actually stuck with the run Sunday even if it wasn't yielding big time results. The more they do it they'll get into a rhythm at some point. The bye came at a perfect time now they can reassess and really figure things out for the 2nd 1/2. Need to finish out at least 6 and 2 to get that bye. They're more than capable of doing that. Win 3 of the next 5 at least  and take care of business against the Giants (twice) and Cardinals.

Ahh yes. Cunningham is just like every other regular LB in coverage…

Such a trolling moron. I guess we all missed the stories of Foles being out until 2am taking shots with Torrey Smith and Alshon instead of going to church.

I didn’t realize this was on third and 14. Ridiculous that he was even on the field.

You actually expect Cunningham to be able to cover a TE one on one in man?

He was one of the big losses to sports talk radio for Philadelphia.  Also terribly underused by 97.5 when they had him.  Stuck him on the weekends before he left.

97.5 is basically dead right now but they'd be the top rated in the city if they today had Rob Maaddi in the midday and then Devon Givens as the prime afternoon slot.

In defense of the call (not the LB coverage), Reed was lurking back there with nothing to do - a late throw could’ve been problems. An early throw to the TE was there as Cunningham flails and chases, but who knows how these progressions work.

No.

Ya. Easy answer for the question posed by the tweet. Byard was back there bracketing #88 with Slay. I'm guessing Dak quickly went through his progressions when he saw 4 defenders vs 3 receivers on that side and one on one with Bradberry which he was toasting him with all night save this play. His internal clock was clearly running given that the pressure was starting to get to him. TE came open a little later after Dak had already came off of him. He wasn't trying to throw Byard another pick in that situation even though Byard really wasn't looking in the backfield on that one. And as you said Reed was over the top... rather deep but probably enough to spook Dak as well.

Keeping these 2 LBs on 3rd and long is egregious. If you want Cunningham to handle short zones and QB draws, fine. But replace Morrow with Brown/Ringo.

Didn't think I'd say this during the pre-season, but we need Justin Evans back.

He only plays like 16 snaps a game, hes had a reduced role and a different role this year

Take for instance Nolan's first sack, who was the DL occupying a blocker so Nolan could go untouched for the sack? BG.

And who was the first guy to go over and celebrate with Nolan? BG.

He's been solid this year in doing the dirty work In limited snaps and yeah this is probably his last year, I'd imagine.

To be fair I knew a fantastic veteran like Brandon Graham might get word of my post and kill it against Dallas.
He did not fail me.

GO EAGLES!

For sure. A late throw gives Blankenship time to jump the route. Anything early or midway through the route is a clear win for Ferguson. Seems like Prescott should come off Lamb as soon as Byard runs with him, but for whatever reason he works to the backside quickly. In Prescott’s defense, it’s 1-on-1 and probably sees it as pitch and catch, but the throw got away from him and gave Bradberry the opportunity to get a little more physical as the receiver had to adjust.

Is Evans due back post bye? They could use some big dime looks.

Cunningham theoretically as the Mike in cover two would be effective to run the seam and use his long arms to change the passing angle. The problem is he decides to two-hand jam the player with all his might and misses so badly it would have been an automatic conversion. We saw it twice in these clips. Fran mentioned on his show that this happened like four times. I mean, what are we doing here? If he connects, it’s good. If he misses, he just ruined the entire structure of the defense. Seems pretty dumb on 3rd and 14 and 4th and 8, especially when the receiver is running straight at you vertically and not horizontally.

Agreed - given how timid/blind Dak was on some of his bad coverage, if he could just pace up the seam with those arms and some awareness to look for ball.
