EMB Blog: 2023 Regular Season thru Week 9 - NO POLITICS

dolphins and cowboys have zero wins against teams with a winning record. The 9ers have 2, against the steelers and cowboys. I guess espns click bait is working, because here we are talking about it.

Does it mention who the other 4 "better" teams are? I would guess they have the chiefs, bills, ravens, and bengals.

Are we that deep?   We have a guy the fans were screaming about getting too many touches, another guy that really excels against the Giants, and is pretty much a JAG at best against others, and a guy that must have kicked Sirianni's dog and can't get on the field.

Speaking of Boston Scott...has anyone heard about his whereabouts?

Id rather have the RBs pick up the load from Goedert instead of Julio Jones or Calcaterra/Stoll.

We're deep at RB and they're all starving for touches.  Go to Gainwell and Swift in the passing game and give Penny more carries.

Devonta is about to pop off.

Why in the world would they want to trademark the phrase?

It's definitely not as daunting now as it seemed and I feel better about it coming out of a Bye week. The Chiefs, Bills and Niners aren't nearly as good as compared to their preseason hype. Unfortunately it's kind of entirely dependent on how the secondary looks and if they can get their crap together.

I agree about the teams we are playing.  The DBs have been bad, but they have not been the deciding factors.  In spite of them, we win.  If the offense slows down, if the pass rush doesn't get home, then we are in real trouble.  In a close game I will take the Eagles, unless Mahomes has the ball at the end of the game needing a score to win.  Then I will feel doomed.  Even with his lack of receivers and mediocre offensive line, he is just so good.

I am less concerned about the upcoming games compared to when the schedule came out.  Of the 5 teams we play our offensive line is the best of the group, it can be argued our QB is playing the best of all the QBs with winning results, our Dline matches up with all of them, we arguably have the best WR in Brown, with Smith one of the best #2 WRs.

Won't be like the last 3 games of the season, but it's not the murderers row it was 12 weeks ago.

Really depends on injuries. If Deebo is back that 49er game becomes a lot tougher. I worry about the Dallas game mostly because of where it sits. 49ers tend to beat teams up for the next opponent whether they win or lose. Typically a pretty physical match up. Just really need them to win 3 out of the 5 and they should be good if they take care of business with the remaining losing teams who are pretty much tanking on the schedule (Giants, Cardinals).

Due to Goederts absence?  Whats your logic there?  Just Dallas' targets going to Devonta?

It's Albert O SZN!

His target share should go up. We didn’t bother using the TEs last year when Goedert went out.

I'm not saying that they have to look great but they should at least be competent to give us a chance. I just don't think those teams will throw the game away like Dallas did. The DL has to be better about containing the QB as well since we can't let Mahomes and Allen get out of the pocket like Dak did so many times.

I am guessing he is using this as the reference - https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/page/Football-Power-Index/espn-nfl-football-power-index

Which now has the Eagles at 14.

Considering how their defense has played and the offense turning over the ball I am not shocked by this ranking.

If I'm reading this right, their model virtually guarantees the chiefs will win the SB and everyone else has a near zero chance.

Edit: Well, I just looked at the date and its from 2020...

Having an argument with a guy who thinks QB is more important than Oline. It’s not even close

Because of the sale of all the Eagles related merchandise in the color, including  unlicensed items.  Suggests the Eagles might incorporate Kelly Green regularly, at least as long as sales are strong.  Believe they trademarked Brotherly Shove as well.  I don’t buy or wear jerseys but you can see them all over the place.  I have bought Kelly Green Eagles bourbon and a Kelly Green Stoutland U (all profits go to the Eagles Autism Foundation).  Look at how many on here have bought some sort of Kelly Green merchandise.

Wonder what the NFL rules are on replacement jerseys in playoff games.

It is a term so widespread now that specifically refers to this franchise. They’re just protecting themselves from other people selling eagles gear with pseudo-references

Nonsense.  "Power ratings” mean nothing.  No style points for the playoffs.  Wins and losses matter and winning is the driver for this team.

There's a happy medium somewhere. Burrow almost carried a non-existent OL to a Super Bowl win. Stroud is doing well without one now.

I think Burrow’s Oline was a little overstated how bad it was. He got pressured a lot, but it was more porous than outright depleted. Stroud is a good example of overcoming Oline deficiencies though. I suppose it depends on your QB’s skillset.

I was mainly thinking about Mahomes with this one. The last time he didn’t have a top 5 Oline was the 2020 Super Bowl, when he couldn’t score a TD.

If you were to make a playoff run with the NY Giants right now, would you take Patrick Mahomes or his Oline? Just for this season. Mahomes behind the Giants’ line would get absolutely destroyed. But Tyrod Taylor behind the KC line could at least get a run game together

I didn’t realize this was on third and 14. Ridiculous that he was even on the field.

In the bottom clip, looks like the cryboys came out in 10 personnel and yet we still have 2 LBs on the field which is bananas as it is on 1st down, but absolutely insane on 3rd and 14. Having the wrong personnel on the field is 100% on Desai, and yet there are some here who still don't think he's part of the problem for why our pass defense is so horrible this season.

When the stats suggest it’s the worst past defense in the league, hyperbole isn’t out of line.

stop making the past defense the escape goat.

Only works if you click it.   I can talk about it all day long, and as long as I don't click it, they get no money from me.

Just "personal".   Kind of sucks, it seems it must be serious.

To beat the Jets to it.

Yup.  Julio will get a slight increase in snaps and targets, but Devonta Smith will be the volume target out of the slot.  He and AJ Brown will each get more than 10 targets per game.

I guess I don't understand why they need the phrase though?  If Notre Dame wants to wear Kelly Green again next year, does that mean they can't say Kelly Green or the Eagles get money if they do? I'm lost on so many of these new trademark filings.
