Only works if you click it.   I can talk about it all day long, and as long as I don't click it, they get no money from me.

They get engagement from people talking about it. You might not have clicked it, but since there is a discussion on it, I bet some others on here clicked it or went and looked something up about it. Someone earlier posted espns football power index, that right there drove traffic to their site because of the earlier discussion on how ridiculous it was. Their click bait worked, right here.

It is a term so widespread now that specifically refers to this franchise. They’re just protecting themselves from other people selling eagles gear with pseudo-references

My UH Cougars, probably as a reaction for the city, wore Oilers style uniforms this year when the Titans broke out Oilers throwbacks.  Houstonians feel those belong to Houston but I would bet the Titans have the trademarks of Columbia Blue (the primary Oilers color) and "Luv ya Blue”, the Oilers chant. (Still have my Luv ya Blue original sign.)  The trademarks just make good business sense and protects licensing fees and provides a weapon against counterfeiters.

Overall, that revenue helps maintain the franchise income.  While I doubt there were a lot of sales of the Bumblebee Eagles merchandise or Oilers merchandise to Titans fans, I’d bet that there were tremendous sales of Kelly Green merchandise or Creamsicle merchandise down in Tampa.  Heck, I would wager that the font change recently has a dual purpose.  In fifteen years, teams can "throwback” the old font and sell that merchandise to fans from the time period it was used. If they phased out Midnight Green for Kelly Green, they could throwback to Midnight too.  Don’t think black worked for sales so they are tinkering for maximum merchandise sales all the time.

Who's down with JPP?

The talent available won’t change, i just want to see better execution.  That should at least make us the 6th best I’d think right?

There's still the possibility they bring Suh in during the bye week for a quick infusion of DL talent to help with the lack of DE depth, and allow them to move Milton Williams outside from time to time, and to be able to give Davis and Carter a little less action while they nurse their injuries.   I guess we'll see how serious those injuries are during the bye.  If they don't bring Suh back, I guess that's a sign that they feel those two will be healed enough during the bye for the stretch run... but having the extra body in there couldn't hurt.  He's much better than Marlon T, and I'd rather have him for the playoffs than Marlon.

I had no idea JPP was out there.  Hed be a huge upgrade from Barnett.

There's also gotta be a reason we've carried 4 RBs all year, so Im trying to analyze this through the coaches' perspectives.

That's a mystery given what we've seen.   Penny seems like a luxury that they have no intention of using.

I guess I don't understand why they need the phrase though?  If Notre Dame wants to wear Kelly Green again next year, does that mean they can't say Kelly Green or the Eagles get money if they do? I'm lost on so many of these new trademark filings.

Because if my wife can break out a Cricut and make a shirt that says "Kelly Green for the win” with a backwards Eagles logo, so can a mass production T-shirt company. And make money off it. It’s so people can’t profit off them.

It also says "professional football teams” so Notre Dame can do what they want

Turns out not running the ball on 1st and 2nd for 2 yards and then a QB draw is beneficial to RZ efficiency.

I'd give a high 3 for that move.

Interestingly enough the ranking seems to be inversely proportional to Hurts' mobility.   🤔   Almost like BJ was leaning too much on that early on and not the plethora of weapons this offense has.

Yup.  Really good run defense.  But the pass defense is nearly the worst in the league, they've given up the most passing yardage and given up the 2nd most passing TDs.  Yes the Eagles are 8-1, but I really have a hard time believing they can get through the playoffs with the 2nd worst pass defense in football (only 2nd worse by a single TD otherwise they'd be tied for the worst).  Yeah their run defense is amazing, but why would teams run the football at all against them when their WRs will be wide open all game?  That's why you have no name QBs looking like Tom Brady against them.

Interesting enough, I've been thinking a decent amount about this and I think we're middling at pass defense. The per pass play rankings put us solidly in the middle, but teams can't run on us, so they are forced to pass. It's a problem of being so much better at one thing than the other, that people pass on us at a 70% clip and that inflates the yardage numbers since no team gets passed on as much. While I know it's frustrating for us to watch the teams converting 3rd an longs against us at a higher rate and the predominance of quick passes we see, I don't think we're horrible against the pass, just not great.

Slay has been playing well-ish, Bradberry has been ok but not good. The S position has been an issue due to injuries and revolving lineup, and as others have said the LBs coverage has been bad in general. Overall, if we can get some consistency in the S position as we onboard Byard more and more and their communication gets better, I have hopes for a better showing and to make teams more balanced against us, which will make the defense function more like it's supposed to.

I know none of this is really new thought here on the blog but the more I think about it the more it resonates.

TL:DR People pass on us because more often than not they have to and that skews the numbers to look worse than they really are.

Barnett is still ok vs. the run? I'm not defending Barnett, but I don't want JPP either.

If you want an older EDGE for the PS, I'd want Melvin Ingram.

If teams weren't able to move the ball down the field at will in the closing moments of games with impunity... I might agree that its overblown.  But, a 70+ yard TD drive by Washington with under a minute off the clock is very telling.  Dallas moved from their own 14 to our 6 in about 30 seconds, with no timeouts. Granted... they had some help by penalties... but the Eagles didn't shut down the passing game either until they got that one sack by Sweat at the very end.  THEN... it collapsed.

I'd feel more confident in the D if they stopped teams from moving the ball so easily at the end of games.

I'd rather bring back Suh.   Meanwhile, Barnett still is like a walking time bomb to me for him to do something stupid at the worst possible time.  It might just be my bias against him for doing it so many other times, but its happened FAR FAR too many times to be ok.

His target share should go up. We didn’t bother using the TEs last year when Goedert went out.

I think we tried but it didn't work well so gave up and started using Quez more which didn't work well either.

As a PS flyer? Stealing snaps from Barnett in limited action - seems low risk, some reward…

If Barnett gets any defensive snaps versus KC - it’s a guaranteed roughing of Mahomes… it’s a black hole of certainty, no escape.
