EMB Blog: 2023 Regular Season thru Week 9 - NO POLITICS

Featured Replies

As long as Jurgens is back to himself and we are relatively healthy on the D-line and secondary, I have the Eagles 4-1 in next 5 games. Frankly, I feel the only team who can beat the Eagles in this stretch is the Eagles. But believe they slip up in the Cowgirls game.

They beat the Chiefs first here in this 5 game gauntlet cuz the Chiefs OL is not that good (built to stop the pass and they are using chip blocking assistance for both tackles as of late) and they won't be able to stop the run if Jurgens is back. They sure  miss Nick Bolton on that D. And we will as per the norm this season, stop their running game and play the ball control game to keep Mahomes off the field and brotherly shove them everywhere. 49ers and Bills at home should be close wins. And they should beat the Seahawks on the road as they just got blown out and are beatable. Last 2 games should be a dress rehearsal if all goes as predicted here. Assuming the Lions lose a couple more. Think they are hungry and get more locked in as season moves along and familiarity and health on the defense improves.

Sirriani all but said they'll use an extra OL at TE more often now

Jurgens comes back and Steen to OL/TE/FB in the 4th Q to preserve leads and run out the clock?  Sounds good to me.  That's something I want Jurgens to do last year.   Taking out smaller players and putting in bigger players when you want a long drive when you have a lead and you will be running is a good plan.

One could also argue that it isn't entirely necessarily for the great WRs to play 90+% of the time, especially when running to preserve the lead and finish the game.

I’m going to watch this game - it’s a bye week and HE has made an impassioned case that 6ers are worth my time.

If you haven't watched their games this year, you are in for a nice surprise.  Small sample size but scheme/coaching/role players this year are a lot of fun to watch.

I'd give a high 3 for that move.

I typically don’t watch any NBA basketball until like Christmas, as it feels like preseason - but like you said, if the product is good count me in.

Foles never would have stayed healthy and they would have been drafting a new QB by the 2019 offseason. Probably would have missed out on Hurts.

Foles was healthier than Wentz when he was here.  Just because things didn’t  work out for Foles after he left doesn’t mean they wouldn’t of worked out here.

F it.  JPP for Mariota straight up.

Probably basing his entire argument on Patrick mahomes, who is the only QB that could possibly apply to

And even then, Mahomes has had a dominant Oline for almost his entire career; top 5 each of the last 3 seasons

Yup, this is 1st year I am watching full Sixers games in a long time. This is a fun team to watch and actually believe they are better than the Celtics because of their new bench and great depth. Celts very thin this year. Porzingis won't last the season there and Horford is close to washed. Holiday is not prime holiday either. They will miss the tough nosed play of Smart, G. Williams & R. Williams in these Embiid hard fought games. Celts love the iso game too much, especially late in games. Nurse has them playing defense and they score plenty.  Making it look pretty easy so far. Harden and Tucker gone is a breath of fresh air.

The Eagles-Cowboys Week 9 game last Sunday attracted more than 27 million viewers, according to FOX.

It was the most-watched NFL game this season on any TV network.

I still really want them to make a move for OG Anunoby.  We need more players who can guard top wings and can consistently also hit open 3's.  He's also not high usage so will work well with Maxey/Biid.  Moves Oubre to 6th man roll which is perfect for him.

Toronto GM is hard to deal with and will want a boatload and all of our picks. Hate to give up our new found depth. I rather try to get him as a free agent in the offseason. But yeah, they can definitely use a stopper like that.

It's analytics, none of that matters for that ranking. I should have led with that in my other post. This team, analytically, is not a powerhouse- for the reasons I listed.

And games are ultimately won by making plays at the right times... not analytics.  This team, despite the poor analytics, have managed to win games where other teams in similar spots have lost.

Dallas lost to the Cardinals.  Don't give me analytics.  They lost to the worst team in the league... which means that they, at any time, could lay a massive egg.

And 'ranking' doesn't matter either.   All that matters is the record.

Once again I'm going to politely ask for help. Can someone with access to the game footage please let me know where the opening Cowboys kickoff of the second half landed in the endzone? It went for a touchback but I cannot see where it landed.

Oh, and for the crowd praising Braden Mann's punting against Dallas, not a single one of his four punts traveled at least 40 yards with a four second hangtime. He did get some favorable rolls however so great job. [EDIT -- I'm wrong...it's 40 yards with at least 4.1 hangtime.]

I’d say the kick landed about a yard, yard and a half in the green from the end line (white).

I thought Mann was placing his punts to try to avoid Turpin returns.  Thought what he did (not too high so Turpin couldn’t run under it and in front of him towards the side but not too far to eliminate his running against the grain.  The English allowed for the rolls.  I could be way off the mark, but that’s what I thought was happening.

Such a heads up play by OZ calling the fair catch in field on that kickoff.

Chiefs offense has scored a whopping total of 23 points in the last two weeks against the Broncos and Dolphins so that's all I need to know how good these analytics are.

No he wasn't.  Folks was aa injury prone as they come.  He was not a franchise QB.  Despite being fragile he was one of the most highly inconsistent QBs in the league.  It's why he didn't work out here and why he didn't work out anywhere else.

The only mistake they made with Foles was not trading him for the Cleveland 2nd round pick after thr Super Bowl.

A yard and a half in front of the end line or a yard and a half behind the end line?

If 100 is the goal line and the end line is 110, are you saying 108.5 or 111.5?

Eagles coaches are well into their self scouting.  Also suspect there is some PS tryouts going on as down to Clark as the only OL on PS.  Hate the Goedert injury but timing before the bye allows some time for planning to deal with it.  Cupboard isn’t totally bare at TE.  Desai probably tweaking too.

After the bye, the secondary is probably Byard (former All Pro) and Blankenship at S, rested Bradberry (former All Pro) and Slay (former All Pro) with a healed Roby (lower mileage despite age) at nickel.  Roby and Byard familiar with playbook allowing more disguises and tighter zones.  Can say goodbye to (or move to PS) Scott and bring Evans back, if healthy.  Think the secondary is better the second half.

Expect Watkins back soon.  Changes the offense with Goedert out a little because Albert O knows the plays now and may warrant some playing time.  Question on Calcaterra being the #2 so some competition there. Also looks like Jurgens coming back but possibly not starting at RG if they think Steen is ready.  With Good-Jones gone, there is less cushion at C.  We’ll see.

Do wonder about Dean’s injury, kind of lost in the Goedert loss.  Hopefully just needs the bye for health.

Expect a week of rest helps some of the nagging injuries.

I also heard that this season, Smith’s target share jumps from 18 percent to 30 percent this year when Goedert isn’t on the field (very small sample)

108.5-109.  In front of the end line.  Did this from the All22.

Steen and Dean are not better than Jurgens and Morrow.

So the Eagles Autism auction is live.  Who is bidding?  A signed Kylie Kelce Kelly Green jacket for the wife, pregame field passes, Eagles v Bills game day experience package.
