Leno's standup and Leno's Tonight Show act weren't the same. He softened it all for TV. Then add in all his behind the scenes maneuvers...and it's no wonder almost all comedians prefer Dave to him.

Dave was an awkward standup, if you see his old sets on Carson. But it worked as a host.

Pretty much. Leno was genuinely a funny stand up comic. He was a hacky bore as a late night host.

And if we're talking about him being a "comic's comic" I'd pump the brakes. Bill Hicks HATED him.

Maybe this will be their push to get a better field. A lot of money/opportunity to piss away sticking to turf.

That's the real issue.  The field is just unsafe.  I think it has the highest injury rate in the NFL.

Allen seems to be closer to Wentz than Mahomes lately.

I've been saying this about Allen for two year at least, a few guys on this board were head over heels in love with the guy.

Agreed. And to young comics, getting a spot on the Late Show replaced getting a spot on the Tonight Show as the gold standard of initial success after Carson left. I think hearing that sentiment among the community really irked Jay and made him more and more bitter as he got older. That became a self-reinforcing cycle, along with the type of material that he did in his monolouge. Dave wasn't without his personality quirks as well but he's more aware of that now in his older age and has softened quite a bit.

That's the best rookie debut I remember for an Eagles' defensive player.

Very very soon, he's going to supplant Cox as the starter and Cox will be the rotational DT.

The snap counts I saw had Cox for 62%, Carter for 50%, Davis 44%.   Moving forward, I think Carter and Davis will move up, Cox move down.  In the future, I think we'll see it more along the line Carter between 67%-75% of the snaps, Davis closer to 55%-65%, and Cox should likely fall off to about 25%-30%.   (Williams also got about 41%, and that might go up a little bit, but I think he's best served in the 45-55% range)

I judge Rodgers, and really any other athlete for that matter, based on how their teammates feel about them. And other than Greg Jennings who plays a cartoon character on TV like Skip Bayless and has to generate attention and eyeballs, none of Rodgers’ teammates has ever said anything negative about him. Driver, Jordy Nelson, Bakhtiari, Adams, Cobb, Lazard, Marcedes Lewis, etc all love the guy. Jets locker room loves him too.

You're leaving out a few others: https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/aaron-rodgers-trashed-report-based-entirely-on-on-the-record-quotes-from-teammates

So who do we start at linebacker this week? Heard Blankenship was helping with the calls with Ellis in at middle linebacker. Like to see Morrow come in who has more speed. And also Edmonds chip in with some snaps in the box. Ellis is good on special teams and should stay there primarily. Cunningham will prolly see all the snaps on outside.

A few comedians not liking him doesn't change that. It's a very jealous and petty world sometimes.

If we're talking about "comics comics" it kinda does. But I don't disagree that I thought he was a funny comedian. Just not a late night host. IMO.

Guys complaining about the hand signals he used? That’s a bit of a reach there.

They're complaining that he's accosting them for not knowing hand signals that he's using from a different staff, not the ones they're being taught in meetings.

Been that way even with Daboll for the most part. Hero ball is losing ball.

It's just not a funny joke.  It's not clever, it isn't witty.  There isn't anything funny about it.

I hope you see the irony of this words coming out of your mouth.  Pot meet Kettle.

I'd prefer Cunningham got less snaps, he was pretty bad on Sunday, useless in coverage and his strong point his tackling he missed a couple.

Rather see a LB like morrow who can cover a bit better than see Cunningham out there.

I think Morrow moves up the depth chart and starts on Thursday.  The big question is who is beside him... Cunningham or Ellis.

I think they go to Morrow with the green dot, because he was in Desai's system last year.  He knows it.  Cunningham is a late comer to the Eagles, and Ellis is just trying to know his assignments out there.  So, the 'simplest' way to make sure that everyone is on the same page is to use someone who is the most familiar with it... and that's Morrow.

Edit:  turns out I am totally wrong.  Morrow was in Chicago in 2022, Desai in 2021.   NVM.

Jalen Hurts has understandably taken criticism for an objectively bad week 1.  That criticism has (also understandably) been very muted given the absolute carnage at QB around the rest of the league in week 1.

I won't rehash the criticisms, which I agree with....BUT...many said that he wasn't seeing wide open receivers.

Now I haven't watched the All-22, but every time the cameras panned on Sunday, I was seeing our receivers with coverage sewn into their hip.  It was a pretty significant contrast from the less heralded NE receivers running free in our secondary.

If Hurts, the coaching, and the OL all got some critique, so too should AJ Brown and Devonta Smith.  They were out-separated by a team that's supposed to have some of the league's worst weapons.

I guess you don't have 5 consecutive 3 and outs without all aspects of the offense not showing up.

Also...I 100% agree with Howie's philosophy at RB, LB, and safety.  I was also a big Nakobe Dean supporter in the draft and offseason.  So I'm treading lightly with the criticism.

But when it's week 2 and you are shopping for 2 of 2 starting LB spots on the unemployment line, that is an absolute failure of GM-ing.

Guess I'll put it here too

Sounds good, I'm not sure what the coaches see in Cunningham, he was just so lost in coverage a few times in basic coverage concepts, then plied on the ineptitude with missed tackles.

Having Dean and Cunningham both guys who struggle in coverage in the field at the Dane time in a passing league is a mistake In my opinion.

Hopefully it's morrow and Ellis this, Ellis had a rough game as well he was running around like a chicken with his head cut off but at least he has potential to be better in coverage if he gets his head screwed on.

I'm sure Vikings are looking at the tape and gonna attack the middle just like the pays dud and the vikes have way better weapons than the pats , hopefully Desai can come up with something quick.

Can't believe Game day is in 2 days!

When you go bargain hunting... many times you get exactly what you pay for.  Hitting on the gem is rare.   And with the way he goes about it with 1 year deals for all these guys, if they do hit, then you are likely back to hunting the following year, because they will go for the bigger payday elsewhere.  Last year we brought in Kyzir White and CJGJ.  They both moved on and we bring in new guys and are facing the same problems, if not worse because no one on the field is likely to match the production we go from CJGJ last year.

Yup saw a stat that said the eagles haven't had 4 consecutive 3 n outs since i 1940.

So yeah it was historically bad.

No way he said that....if he did he would lose his team pretty freaking fast. If he didn't say that the reporter should be stripped of his credentials and banned from any future NFL activities.

Goedert seemed to be the only one getting open and ironically he had 0 catches. Hurts missed him on the 4th down where he locked onto DeVonta and he was running wide open for a TD on another where Hurts missed him again.

They kinda put themselves in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Dean and Cunningham is a bad combo at passing downs but Dean and Morrow is likely just as bad a combo for running downs. Against the Patriots it probably made more sense to put a guy with some size next to Dean since the Patriots were likely to utilize the backs.
