I'm pretty sure you can have up to 8 return in a year. They have expanded it quite a lot in recent years, which I'm glad.

Yea, apparently it's 8. I swore they changed it to unlimited but maybe that was a COVID rule.

I’m not saying some of these owners don’t have a "plantation mentality”, but I don’t think they’re that dumb where they would say something as egregious as this in a public setting or to a reporter. Behind closed doors in the country club, maybe.

Again, Bob McNair referred to the players as "inmates wanting to be allowed to run the prison". Not a direct reference to race like is being alleged with Pegula, but the owner of an NFL team referred to black players (including his own) as prisoners, publicly. This already happened 6 years ago. We literally have at least one example where an owner was indeed dumb enough to say that in a public setting, so bet money he's said far worse in a private one. I'd also bet money he's not the only one.

Yeah, I just looked into it and for 2020 and 2021 seasons it was unlimited and they only had to be out 3 weeks. Prior to COVID it was only 2 players you could bring back and they had to be out 8 weeks, so seems we are somewhere in the middle now.

If you designate someone to return and they don't, does that count or is there no real designation anymore?

The phrase "inmates running the asylym" is a known expression that has zero connotations of what people who want to get angry get angry about.

It'd be like an animal lover getting all pissy about someone using the phrase "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" "What, you want to kill a bird with your hands? How terrible! You should be fired!"

There's no designation anymore. They got rid of that before COVID I think. It's only when they actually return now that it counts as a designation.

Yeah, and quite a few owners are from an older generation not used to people jumping all over them for known expressions. They should adapt, obviously, but yeah...

That report just makes me want to check out the AI Jerry Jones exhibit even more.

I want to see if I can get it to say a slur.

Think this week we may get Terrell Edmunds playing pseudo linebacker. He looks solid in that role in this clip. Makes sense for less Cunningham this week.

Would much rather have Edmunds covering Hockenson

Jerry Jones traded for Trey Lance.

No way that guy is racist 🤣

Don’t take this the wrong way, but I think Carson Wentz is the right move for the Jets.  I’m no Wentz washer, as I was one of his biggest critics in his time here.

The talent is there.  Wentz was stubborn, not lazy.  He was so talented he never learned to make adjustments and just forced it with his patented hero ball.

But he was always pretty good when surrounded with actual talent and targets.  A humbled Wentz willing to play within the system and to situationally flex the talent and big arm…on a very talented Jets team.

It could fail spectacularly.  But if im a Jets fan, that’s the only option with the upside to contend.

I agree. Wentz makes the most sense there as someone who can eventually take over for Wilson when/if he struggles. The rest are just pure bench guys.

What about Nolan Smith at linebacker? He could cover and they could use him as a Blitzer also

He's definitely quick and athletic enough to cover, but that's really never been his role. I know they flirted with it in TC a bit, but a short week, going against a high-level TE, I think Elliss/Morrow is the main combo this week.

Jerry Jones has a long history of scouting black people.

You shouldn't be surprised these guys say things when they can get caught. They do it because they get away with it 99.9% of the time.  They've intimidated and paid off people as has the league for a long time

Every time I see this picture I'm expecting to see Forrest Gump somewhere in there

Jerry Jones definitely didn't say what's being reported.. His comments would have been way more racist

That phrase has been around longer than Richard Sherman or his peers.  When I've heard it none of those being referenced were minorities. It was intended to be the equivalent of letting a bunch of high school freshmen and sophomores run the school.

Was he? Morrow was in Chicago and Desai was in Seattle. Unless the Bears used the same system from before when Desai was with them. But that seems unlikely given they had a new regime come in with a defensive head coach.

Yup.  My bad.  Morrow was in Chicago in 2022.  Desai was there in 2021.  🤷‍♂️

The phrase is "inmates running the asylum". Chalk it up to a freudian slip if you want, but I doubt his players were as willing to give him the benefit of the doubt given the context.

My guess is that we will release Morrow or Cunningham in 2 weeks, once Siposs/Covey's elevations up, and do the elevation dance at LB.

It's also time to consider releasing Calcaterra once Albert O knows the offense.

I think by the Monday night game Albert O is either active or released. He's on the last year of his deal so no sense in carrying him all year to keep inactive

"Inmates running the asylum” is an idiom/figure of speech. He wasn’t calling his players prisoners, he was making a metaphor of surrendering leadership.

It was an off color remark, but he wasn’t telling guys to go back to Africa like Trotter is accusing.
