Idk who they have going for the 9th. Just used kimbrel. I’m guessing it’s Alvarado but they haven’t used him back to back since coming off the injury

Alvarado was seen warming up in the bullpen according to the broadcast.   "Last month of the year, Brent.  Can't hold anything back now."

@e-a-g-l-e-s eagles!  Incidentally, I agree with using Kimbrel in the 8th.  That was the heart of their order.  9th is now the bottom 3rd.

If we start with a roster of 54 (53 plus a Siposs elevation) that means we need to inactivate 6 to get to 48.  Here is my first pass at 6

Tanner McKee
Albert O
Sua Opeta (Steen and Fred Johnson are active)
Moro Ojomo
two from Eli Ricks, Mario Goodrich, Kelee Ringo, and Justin Evans

Dammit, I posted a missive and forgot about Ojomo. That’s an obvious miss. Makes the roster crunch a bit easier.

Oh definitely was the right move. Hate having to use kimbrel back to back games too. I’m not surprised he’s not been as good. He’s had to throw way more than what they anticipated and at his age due to the first 4 months of the year they couldn’t score consistently and in close games all the time.

soto and Dominguez’s inconsistencies along with alvarado’s elbow and kimbrel’s innings should’ve been enough for them to make a trade for a reliever at the deadline.

Schwarber reaches safely 5 for 6.   includes another moon launch.  Unconventional lead off hitter, but he's getting on base.

Really good time for Turner to hit a bomb

Tonight's close game is the fault of the pitching staff though.  9 runs should be enough to make it a laugher.  Sadly, I'd feel better if Rojas stole a bag and scored on a single here.

Oh for sure. We talked about it on the Phillies thread. Walker’s velocity is down. I think he would’ve went on IL if Suarez didn’t get hurt so they could skip a couple of his starts. I think there’s a chance you see that at some point down the stretch. Bellatti is what he is. And soto trade would look worse if vierling and maton were actually good. Feels like a bust for everyone.

Yeah, but they were just extra pieces.... I mentioned the log jam forming in F, and that's without those 2 (and not to even mention Moniak!).   Marsh, Rojas, Pache and Crawford... they could be your 3 across the outfield, but I think they need some power in at least one of the corners... maybe that's Harper in RF and Nick in LF next year... but in 2 years.   Marsh seems to developing nicely into a guy that can have some power.  The other 3... speed and defense types.

My guess is that 2 of those guys get moved in the next 2 years for some other pieces... likely some pitching.

Impressive run by Duke's Riley Leonard

Not sure why they wouldn't put Marsh in RF.  Best speed defense you could hope for in the OF.

Oh i ageee. At least 1 is gone and likely two. I’m guessing Crawford they keep. Kid has superstar potential. They’d have to be getting a legit ace back to move him. Do think de La Cruz is the odd man out. Potentially Rojas depending on what the trade is. I love Rojas but i could see them moving him before Crawford especially if it’s a high end pitcher or catcher (when relamuto is done). I’d say marsh but i think they gave up O’hoppe to get him so he’s likely staying

Makes no difference if Alvarado can’t throw strikes consistently.

I think Marsh's offense is too good for them to move on from him.

AND... Alvarado is imploding.

Honestly why they haven’t used him back to back. He’s inconsistent with the zone on rest. No rest he’s gonna be like this. His control has been his biggest issue lately.
