Yeah - so we can move the F on.  Good.  Goedert will have to find a new best friend.

Back to the IR for 4 weeks - I like Maddox when he plays (had a nice FF last night), but yeah he’s an injury magnet.

Ya it’s a shame cause he is really good

I don't overanalyze and nitpick everything early in the season.  Nobody is saying their perfect. It's a process, we have new pieces and coaching.  I don't know why people think it's supposed to be a well oil machine with two new Coordinators.  All I know is Jake is Money and had he longest kick since Super Bowl LII Run.  D'Andre had the best Eagles Rushing performance in a Decade.   The Defense forced 3 Turnovers and had Minny playing catch up most of the game.  Jalen had a 3 TD performance.  Devonta Exploded and the Eagles are 2-0 with 11 days till the next game.  Like I said. I have no complaints.

Well, the team sort of puts out this air of confidence that it should be a well oiled machine by punting on the PS.  So, when they skip preseason, and then come out clunky and rusty... its fair to call them to task for it.   It is their philosophy, and they are unlikely to change it.  But, this is what has happened every year with this philosophy, and they have been fortunate so far that they start against sub-par teams so that they can work their way up.  If they had to come out and play tougher opponents, they likely wouldn't be 2-0 right now.

The defense forced 3 turnovers, ST contributed another, and yet, despite the 4-1 turnover differential, the Eagles had it come down to recovering the onside kick at the end.  There were a lot of opportunities for them to blow the Vikings out.  Similarly, against the Pats, they jumped out to a 16-0 score... and then again, had to hang on at the end to get the win.  Maybe they wouldn't be in such difficult situations if they worked in PS in 'real game' situations, rather than 'simulated game' situations.

Maddox is like Bob Sanders, only not as good and somehow even more injury prone

I think it's fun.  Strong personalities always get some negative feedback.  BTW, the Colorado State coach took a back hand swipe at Deion's mom and how she raised him.  Dbag move.   Now the Oregon Coach is saying stuff as well.  College football is so fing boring, having Colorado be fun even for a few games is good.  Colorado has been so bad for so long, let them have some cake.

As far as I know the Oregon coach Dan Lanning didn't really say anything about Deion.

He was asked about Colorado leaving the Pac-12 and said he had no reaction.  He wanted to know what have they won where it's such a big loss to the conference, which is the truth cuz Colorado been sorry for years.

Gunn makes it sound like the season is over for Maddox.

I don’t think they’ve had to play the best interior lines, but technically they look really good and the production isn’t a fluke.

On the topic of goedert, need to figure out how to get him more chances to get YAC yards. Basically was just  a check down last night. He’s too good to have 6 catches for 22 yards on the season. That’s 3.7 yards per reception.

That's probably why we signed Rodgers

That could be.  Hopefully he gets reinstated... and learns not to bet on the NFL.

Also a returner.     He needs to work on catching punts while he's on suspension.

It's early, but sadly, this does not look like the year. The players are having issues, but the bigger problem is coaching, and that's concerning. They have the talent, but they aren't getting what they should out of them.

Nick seems like a decent head coach, but he also makes bad decisions with his coordinators...mainly ST and OC. He chose them; one should have gone last year, and the other doesn't seem like a good choice. He isn't great at calling plays, and just like with Doug, we've seen the damage losing someone that covers the HC's blind offensive blind spots can do....both times, it's the damn Colts screwing us.

I'm not writing Hurts off yet, but not having Shane has reverted him to 2021 Hurts. Johnson was the safe pick because he is familiar with Hurts, but Nick should have picked someone who would push him to grow and adapt from what is comfortable.

In a league full of innovators, they picked a guy who looks way over his head and can't get two of the best WRs in the league open past a few plays here and there. Completing a few long passes is great, but I'd take reliable/move-the-chains passing plays.

So far they've matched up against a bunch of backup interior OL.  So, they should dominate like this against those level of players.  We'll see if they can continue this against the guys like Zach Martin that they are likely to face moving forward.  But it is definitely encouraging.

Just noticed that Jake Elliott is a captain. Not sure I've ever seen a kicker as a captain. It's probably happened, I've just never noticed it before... and this is his second year as a captain.

Where would you rank him in Eagles kicker history?

He's number 2 just in terms of longevity and scoring behind Akers.  He's a better kicker than Akers and has been clutch in key moments.  The only other kicker I would put in a list with them is probably Tony Franklin and that's only because he didn't wear a shoe on his kicking foot.

If you wanna get conspiratorial about it I would bet they looked at game one as a "this is just an AFC game and winning it is more of a nice to have" situation and we tried to be as vanilla as possible, using Gainwell to save the unveiling of Swift for an NFC game

Don't forget the great Paul McFadden!   Growing up... I didn't realize that barefoot kicking was actually an anomaly!

And I’m not sure if it’s more him or Howie, but he’s the head coach so until we get info proven otherwise, I have to put it on him… the fact that Gainwell came into the season as RB1 is absurd. It makes me wonder just what in the hell Sirianni is watching and makes me question their talent evaluation. The Eagles have these stubborn hang ups with certain guys. They love Barnett, they love Gainwell, they love Siposs. Enough already.

Hey!  I had to watch Mills and Agholor suck for 5 years!  You must be a newbie to this.

The organization is not always going to evaluate talent and performance the same way fans are.  Gainwell was the incumbent RB with Sanders gone, and Sirianni has said more than once that he will have a greatly increased role this season.  His usage in Week 1 shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone.

Performance and health will dictate snaps in the RBBC room.  So far, Swift has earned the bulk of the work for Week 3 as the lead RB -- we will see if that's how it will play out.

YAC in general seems to be an overall issue other than some of the deep shots they’re taking. Anything within 10 yards guys aren’t getting much separation.

I think the pass protection responsibilities will factor into this equation as well.   Swift struggled early with that.   Penny did as well.   I didn't notice Gainwell missing as many blocks in Week 1 as those guys last night.

Solak discussed this and said that he thought a lot of the problem was the scheme but there were clearly open receivers that Hurts missed.  The scheme isn't a progression passing game but one where they are splitting the field into man beaters and zone beaters with Hurts picking a side to throw to early.  So when Hurts picks the wrong initial read he's not really in a system that allows for a progression.  So athough a receiver is open, it's not where he's looking.  They need to adjust the scheme.  They also need better solutions to blitzes.  Hopefully seeing this in the early part of the season helps them adjust.
