I didn’t see myself saying this two weeks into the season, but Greg Ward might be the best option at WR3 for this offense assuming they don’t trade for anyone else. They need someone with a pulse in that slot and it’s felt like the missing piece to this offense for a few years now.

I'd rather wait until mid November and sign Julio Jones to chase a ring on the cheap, like Suh and Joseph did last year.

This is not correct.

He made the wrong read…it’s pretty clear that the S did not trail Brown deep vacating the middle of the field. Hence Brown being wide the f open.  The S is the cue on where to go with the ball.

I don't think you know what a clear out is, bud.

Lemme rephrase this then, and see above.  The S didn’t clear the area, he should be watching the S the entire play.  He f’d up and threw into double coverage.  So Smith’s route cleared the S for the fade.

Any report on Jordan Davis, he went into the tent didnt play anymore.?

Clear outs are 7, 8, 9 routes. A 6 route does not "clear out" a 9 route.

Sanders already answered that question on the NFL Network program A Football Life

"My desire to exit the game is stronger than my desire to remain in it"

Semantics.  If the 4 draws the safety up, opening the deep middle of the field... call it whatever you want.  Hurts blew it on that play.

Yes…read what I wrote.

I did, you're still using the wrong terminology. Smith's route can "draw" a safety up to bite, but it would not "clear him out."

You clearly didn’t.  Browns route was supposed to ‘clear’ the S (meaning he’s the read for the QB).  It didn’t, Smith’s route actually drew the S up…clearing up the fade Brown was running.  Sure it’s not a by the book ‘clear route’, but the whole concept is essentially based off 1 read.  Which area does the S leave clear.  That’s what I said since the beginning last night when it happened.

Hurts made an awful read. I already said as much, but the terminology is incorrect to say Smith cleared out the safety with his route. I thought it was a curl but it was actually a dig on second viewing.

It would be like confusing a play action bootleg with a read option. They are two different things.

I hear you, but Smith's route drew the safety to him... making a void for Brown to run into.

Ultimately, I have no skin in this discussion.  My biggest concern on that play is just what was happening with Hurts mechanics on that throw.  It just looked funky, and that's separate from the read, the decision or the way Brown ran his route.

Along with everything else I said…I know.  Don’t get hung up on semantics.

Completely separate from any of this... when you see a tiger in a video in the wild, it looks big, but it can be tough to see just how big.  Then you see a picture of a tiger right next to a human, and the size of that animal really comes into context.   Just magnificent creatures.

Right, which is what I said here...

It's terminology. You wouldn't say "boot leg play action" in place of "read option". They mean two different things.

Indeed. The play has three routes. Deep post, deep cross, and dig. The QB reads them and Hurts’ read was wrong.
