If Shwarber was juiced, he would easily hit 70 homers a year especially playing in Citizens Bank.

And... its possible he'd actually hit around 0.220.

Prime Ryan Howard on juice might have hit 100

Because it's a slap in the face to all the other players who aren't using. Some of us actually care about the integrity of the game and detest cheating.

Which makes Jim Thome's career even more impressive.

Yup.  At CBP?  No doubt.

Yep. Someone already mentioned Griff, but Frank Thomas too. Loved watching Big Hurt crush the ball when I was a young kid, and now knowing he was doing it clean while a lot of the other guys were juicing makes it even better in retrospect.

Clean Bonds was almost as good a hitter as Griffey; he was a 25-30 HR guy and .285 or .290 hitter.  Griffey hit over .300 regularly and had just as much power.  Defensively, Bonds was never in the same class as Griffey even in his best day.  Griffey is one of the greatest defensive center fielders of all time, in recent times only Devon White and Trout come to mind as comparable — although Garry Maddox was special, too.

Human gargoyle Bonds is disqualified from consideration of any kind.  There were lots of steroid users among players, but what Bonds, McGwire, Canseco, and Sosa did to their bodies was purely disgraceful.  IMO Pujols is part of that list as well.

They weren’t exactly apples to apples. Bonds was an 8 time gold Glover who also was a top 5 base runner in his prime. Griffey had 24 SB as his career high, but most seasons were at best in the teens. Between ‘86 and ‘98 Bonds had 1 season under 29. He was a 40/40 guy with 500 career SB’s even though he slowed down on that when he got big and old. Bonds was also a much more patient hitter. Barry never struck out 100 times in a season after his rookie year despite being a power hitter (averaged 37 HR per 162 games from ‘87-‘99), while Griffey was routinely striking out 100-130 times a season in his prime. This is where Barry built his crazy walk statistic, he was putting out .450 OBP’s while Griffey’s career higher was .408 even with those BA advantages, which he only broke .400 OBP twice. And this was all before ‘00 when Bonds’ hat size started ballooning.

The dude’s actions ruined baseball for all of the Aughts, but the difference between the two isn’t as simple as total HR counts or BA:

Ken Griffey’s best WAR seasons:

9.6 1997

9.1 1997

8.8 1993

7.1 1991

All others under 7.0

Barry Bonds best WAR seasons pre-2000:

9.9 1993

9.7 1996

9.7 1990

9.0 1992

8.2 1997

8.1 1998

8.0 1989

8.0 1991

7.5 1995

This is how Barry had ALREADY tied the alltime career MVP total before he started taking steroids (we assume before he started anyway).
Griffey was never the better player, he just had way better PR.

Frank Thomas is such a 'forgotten' great.  He was truly an amazing player.

My favorite story about him is that before he was drafted there was a scout who was so awe struck by him that for his scouting report he simply wrote, "A huge man."

IDK...the gold glove thing is like the Pro Bowl club a lot of times.  Once you're in, you're in.  It's pretty clear that he started roids in 1990 at the latest.  So there really isn't a 'pre-roids' era for Bonds.  He just took it to a different level in the mid 90's.

UGA really struggling.

Actually it was "One huge person"

Rattler doesn't even look that good either.  That kid has some really happy feet.

No other team can do it to thebsuccess that the Eagles do.  Thata a credit to the Eagles.  To remove it from the league is stupid.

Wow, didn't know Saban benched Milroe.  Probably deserved, but still.

Prayers for Charlie. Hopefully he can make a full recovery. He’s an awesome. Loves to talk about baseball and just genuinely a nice guy.

Yeah, we’ll never know for sure and it’s pretty easy to assume he was taking it incrementally the whole time (as many whom people believe weren’t… probably were). But the timeline does fit of the BALCO guys saying they started seeing him in ‘99 when he was trying to get over the 1999 injury and recover quickly, and how he went from a toothpick to the Rock in those 3 years when his HRs jumped from 34 to 49 to 73

Agreed not a big fan - usually the UGA dline makes their secondary look better than that though.

From what I've seen most have been really easy throws, lots of swings and short passes.  DL is giving him some issues though.

Corley with a TD…

5 catches, 66 yards and a TD with 8 minutes left in the half.

Thanks, didn’t watch the 1st - gonna watch the 2nd.

We have entered a strange timeline: the SEC sucks a** while the PAC-12 is the best conference in the country.
