Odd admission by Gannon…

"Truthfully, Nick was way better as a head coach than I thought he’d be,” Gannon says. "The detail that Nick demands is f—ing nauseating. But I actually needed that in my game. He held my nuts to the fire, where nobody I ever worked for did that.”

Gannon was the real brains behind the Eagles success.

Odd thing to tell people. Would have kept that to myself unless Nick came out with it if it's true

Gannon couldn't stop a nose bleed against good QBs, but was the genius behind the scenes.

Yeah... that sounds about right.  We'll find out this year, I suppose.   Cardinals will be fun to keep an eye on from a distance (not going to waste much time actually watching their games though).   Eagles have 2 new coordinators, so a lot will fall on Sirianni in terms of the ability to maintain what had already been established in terms of culture, while also allowing the new guys to be themselves.   The play calling piece to me will be very interesting. Johnson has never called plays at the NFL level.  We'll see what he can do soon enough.  I just hope that he starts to massively rein in the number of designed QB runs.

I know all the numbers that folks want to throw around trying to convince themselves that running QBs are not in more danger of being hurt than passing QBs.  But, none of them actually holds water.   Running QBs are subject to the hits in the pocket, just as the pocket QBs are, while also having far less protections while running.  The number of injuries suffered is also a bad stat to look at to compare the two, whereas it should be looked at from a perspective of opportunities.  The QB, even running QBs, spend a lot of time in the pocket... so, of course, more injuries will be suffered in the pocket.  There are many many many more opportunities for hits in the pocket due to the frequency of times that the QB is in the pocket, compared to outside the pocket across the league.   BUT... then we see how the NFL is looking at RBs, and we see how quickly RBs lose their effectiveness, especially after big work loads.  The greater the mileage on the RB, the less effective the RB ends up being.  Why would we think that that same logic wouldn't extend to QBs who run with the ball like a RB?   Hurts can run, and should run this year... but it needs to be at a far far lower rate than last year, and he needs to avoid any and all contact on those runs much more than he has in the past.  It's as simple as that.  Generally, 2 extra yards just aren't worth the impacts he's suffering.  They do take a toll on the QB.  And more so, what happens if the injury he suffered last year on a big hit against the Bears happens to his right shoulder, instead of the left?

This team desperately needs Hurts healthy this year... and the best way to do that is for him to remain clean.  I'd love to see him end a game with a jersey that looks as good as when he started the game!

In other news... sounds like the perfect fit for him and Kyler Murray!   They can go play XBox together while not preparing for games!

Aikman was the better quarterback, easily. Not even a difficult answer for me. Troy all the way. Eli was only good at staying healthy, throwing ducks that were caught, and having a good defense to bail him out.

If I were to take a QB in their prime, it would absolutely be Aikman.   Aikman was just unrattleable.  He had a big arm, was a smart game manager, and could use the talent around him.  That said, he was helped by one of the best offensive lines in NFL history, which lead to a rather dominant run game.

Eli probably gets into the HoF, but that's because of two very hot streaks that he had both in the playoffs.  The Giants were practically unbeatable when Eli was hot, but you couldn't count on that for an entire season if you were to be a GM and you had to make a decision to keep your job.

Word is the NFL will be erecting a statue outside of the Football HoF for him.

Yeah, they will be carving it out of hardwood

The two coverage bust TDs in the SB…

Gannon said the first one was a player error and should have been covered. The second was the play call.

It was the same routes Agnew cooked them on in week four against Jacksonville last season. Was just good film study by Reid and co.

Must be let the Beats in for stretching and position reps day.  Sisposs is holding for Elliott is the big news.  Knock me over with a feather.

Doesn't matter what is done or said, someone will find it offensive.

This is a great example of what is wrong with this world today. People are just to dam soft and sensitive today.

Honestly wish we could go back to the 80's and early 90's before internet and people were not so petty.

There is a name for it.  Its called candyass syndrome.  People are born with it now and it cant be cured.

Caleb Williams opting to return to USC after the Cardinals tank their way to the #1 pick would be so hilarious.

Never believed for a second that our star receivers don‘t get along but if there ever was any doubt for someone..

I know the story is 'tank for Caleb', but If your'e the Cards, why in the world would you go QB at #1 overall?  They signed Kyler Murray to a huge contract and it would be an enormous cap hit to release him.  (And let's be honest... nobody is going to trade for him).

Because Caleb Williams could be an elite QB.

High praise from Billy.  Not sure that still applies without Hargrave but obviously that will depend on Carter's development.

Well, I think you're wrong.  Let's look closely at the comment.
I'd say it's a personal attack.  It did not at all refer to my comment.

It referred to me,  and it was about multiple comments.  It changed the subject.  It was off the topic.  It was a personal attack. "oozed".   I'm just saying that that's the class or category it belongs in.  Not saying it's a big deal.

Your last sentence might be good advice though.   I'm not going to be typing out "that's a personal attack" every time it happens.

You are ignoring context.  The stream of your "messages" is a torrent.  In your argument above you are expecting him to discus an individual drop of water. When you are caught in a torrential downpour, or a raging flood, you don't talk about the individual drops of water, or even the waves that crash onto the shore, you talk about the whole.  As for his choice of words, floods ooze.  I think his watery metaphor is apt ... you have arrived on the Blog with both the volume and ferocity of a tropical storm.
