The best thing to happen to the offense this season was Gainwell missing week 2.

Seeing how Swift leaped that DB and still kept going on that long run, I feel like he would've got sprung on that Kenny G play where he got tripped up with an ocean of green ahead of him.  Gainwell runs hard and is decent as a pass blocker/reciever, but he just doesn't have Swift's capability as a runner (burst, agility, contact balance, etc.).  In any case, Swift got 16 carries which is A-okay with me as far as a workload - Kenny G has a place in the offense just not as the lead back (shocking I know).

That DL performance last night will have got some visibility around the league.  They were nasty all night long, and relentless too.

I wonder if one of the consequences of skipping training camp is player evaluation.

They had no idea that Swift was better than Gainwell or that Morrow might be the best LB on the team.  And why would they?  If the 1s never play and the 2s just go through the motions, it’s probably easier to miss these things.

Im not saying they are doing it wrong.  But with everyone asking how the Eagles didn’t know this sooner, that’s probably why.

They really need something from Penny or for Scott to be healthy. Swift playing 54% of the snaps is OK but to have Gainwell getting nearly 50% of the snaps is just too much. If Penny can't give you a snap, he doesn't belong on the team.

I don't want to keep harping on Gainwell but he's played in 2 games now and in each he hasn't even averaged 4 ypc. That just isn't good.

The Eagle defense was only on the field for 47 snaps so it's pretty unbelievable that he's making such an impact on 21 plays.

Derek Barnett should not have double the snaps of Nolan Smith.

Something I noticed again last night.  When Hurts uses his wrist/or it's aligned correctly when throwing, those throws have less wounded duck about them and are more accurate.  The first INT was a peach of a throw, just a good play by the D.  I can't talk the technical side, but it's quite noticeable once you see it.

Hard to believe that Carter and Davis were only on the field for 21 snaps, given their respective impacts.

Sirriani said after game 1 that it was a mistake to only get Swift the ball once so he had some idea of Swift's ability there.  Swift has obviously done better than expectations beyond that,   Morrow I agree

Guess no one will be in here this week whining about how we suck and how the Cowboys will destroy us. Settle down and let the long NFL season develop bit by bit. We are right where we were last year so far.

My criteria for not griping was:

1) We get an efficient passing performance from Swag - while better than previous weeks, despite a dominating run game he wasn't particularly good with the ball in hands in the RZ, a fair amount of miscommunication that that lead to ugly incompletions and 1 really bad INT (the other INT was a bad decision combined with a nice play by TB).

2) Get some good play from the secondary, so this DL can eat - checked that box.

With the Cowboys again looking like a finesse defense combined with their offense's inability to overcome a slew of OL injuries - we advance to #2 in the conference.

Thought the same thing. Swift takes that play to the house. Gainwell doesn't have the juice.

Gainwell on the year has 28 carries for 97 yards for 3.5 YPC. I just don't see it with him at all. His place needs to be 3-5 carries, if that. He shouldn't be getting 15 carries in any game.

Meanwhile, Swift has 45 carries for 308 yards 6.8 YPC and 1 TD.

I really think the Eagles need to just cut Penny and bring in a running back that offers something different. The 4th and 2 run to Gainwell was infuriating. I would have rather seen them try to tush push for 2 yards than to give it to Gainwell there.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm still not sold on Purdy.  Let's see how the season unfolds....I do like SF better in their offensive playcalling/creativeness.  Defenses are similar.  Their schedule definitely is easier.  But that is why this is a week to week league and why no victory, no matter how it looks should be worried about.  I mean in week 10, if Tua suffers another concussion and is out for multiple weeks/season...is anyone really going to care about 70-20?

The Eagles are 3-0, they are 2-0 on the road (both games played in monsoons against good defenses and better defensive minded coaches that both had "retirement parties" for Brady and Barber) and they haven't nearly clicked on all cylinders.....the greatest thing you can say about this offense, even if/when the passing is out of whack, they can just shove the ball down a defenses throat running the ball.  Plus, we have the tush push and a better Kelce/Swift combo that will definitely f things longer than the other Kelce/Swift combo lmao.

Has Penny had a snap at all these 3 weeks?

Yes but very few.

I asked last night but I’ll try again. Does anyone know if Bradberry lined up on the outside at all? When I paid attention to two WR sets he wasn’t out there.

Maybe they wanted to ease him back in since it was a new spot and he had the concussion, but moving forward that seems like a bad idea.

Snap counts are showing he only missed 1 play, so it seems if the buccs were in two WR sets he would have been out there. He may have been strictly playing the slot then if you didn't notice him on the outside during 2 WR sets.

Maybe they are trying to keep it simple right now, but I would also prefer Bradberry to move to the outside on those plays.

The Eagles closed the gap considerably in my mind with SF mostly based on our defensive performance, the issues I still have are:

1) We need to see Swag play well enough for those days when the run game isn't clicking - while I don't believe SF can lock down this rushing attack, I do believe they have the talent so that it can't be a crutch.

2) The nature of the SF offense is a lot motion, misdirection, attacking the edges in the run game and short passing to top-end YAC guys and reliably finding Kittle when the defense looses cohesion.  This is a good formula against most defenses, including our own.  Purdy will turn down an open deep post for an easy pass underneath, so our defense coverage needs to become better within 15 yards of the LoS.  Also, we need some version of the 2020-2022 Reddick back.

I think with Morrow they played the 53 man roster game with him. They cut him knowing another team wasn't going to pick him up, and signed him after week 1 so his salary isn't guaranteed.

We have to remember the week 1 53 isn't the final 53, its the 53 you don't want to lose to another team. After that its easier to stash players on IR or cut them and bring them back on the practice squad.

Almost every single player on the initial practice squad was from the bigger set of cuts they did. To me they were trying to hide these players by releasing them all at once. I think they would have cut Morrow earlier if he didn't give them much during practice.

Lol. I must have noticed it the one time he wasn’t out there.

I love what Swift is doing but let's not run him into the ground.  Keep Kenny in the rotation and Boston once he gets healthy.

That safety just shows how much teams respect both Carter and Davis. They were both double teamed allowing Morrow with a clear gap to shoot into.

I don't know how Covey gets on the field for 4 offensive snaps, but Penny can't get on the field for any at RB.  It wasn't like Gainwell was tearing it up out there.

Minor gripe after a dominating win, but unless Penny was sick he could/should have been used a bit.

Did vita vea even play last night? All I heard coming into this game was how dominant he is and how could the eagles o-line possibly handle him.

the eagles o-line does that to practically every "big time” defensive lineman. They make them invisible.

I'm convinced now that we got the best player in the draft.

Ridiculous really
