Maybe we should start keeping receipts on how many Colorado players have to go to the hospital after talking smack

Cunningham has been very good against the run.

I think he's been their best linebacker the past two weeks. I was concerned about that unit coming into the season because I'm not too big on Nakobe, but it looks like it's shaping up pretty well.

Swift looks so good, I actually wonder if Howie might break the trend and try to extend him. Probably not though.

When the TEAM was almost exactly the same except Minshew for Hurts I did not see the TEAM WINNING last year.

There's a stat called QBrec
the teams record when a QB starts.
It could be argued that wins are a team stat,  but, look,  there's a stat called QBrec.

It's a useful stat when someone wants to argue that wins are only a team stat.

There is no RBrec,  or any other position other than QB that has that stat.

Gainwell should get snaps, but not a lot. Agree, they need Boston Scott back. After 3 games, I'd be happy with Swift at 60%, Scott 25% and Gainwell 15%.

Swift 6.8 YPC

Scott 7.2 YPC

Gainwell 3.5 YPC

3.5 YPC is pretty impressive when every run he made last night, the Bucs knew he was running.

The guy was sick so it's hard to be upset with how he played. He obviously isn't on the same page with his receivers, so hopefully that will come. He is still looking way tentative and needs to progress quicker. It's hard to know what is on him and Johnson at this point as well.

I wish they had a backup TE who could be more of a threat catching the ball. I also don't love their 3rd and 4th options.

I mentioned it last night if they can’t get a safety/nickel corner or linebacker at the deadline, I would go after a more reliable 3rd wide receiver with speed. The options of Quez walkins and even Oz as your third wide receiver really aren’t great. I tend to think if w had a legitimate speed threat that’s reliable to catch the ball as your third wide receiver it will open up things even more and you become that much more dangerous. I wonder if Chicago just keeps getting crushed if Mooney becomes available. He’s on a rookie deal still for another year and a half. Were rumors a couple weeks ago about him possibly being traded.

Yes.  But, I have to pull someone off the field to put Dean back.  IMO, the DL can control the running game so that having the better run defender on the field is less important.  I think Morrow is a better pass defender than Cunningham, so I want him on the field with Dean.  It's a faster defense than with Cunningham.

Purdy is helped and eventually broken by the scheme in SF.

Hurts is the scheme in Philly.

If Purdy dominates vs Dallas and Cleveland in the next 3 weeks then I will grudgingly start to give him credit.

The problem with Purdy is that he is hyped by liars. I saw a header on a YouTube Video on the Giants game titled Purdy: No bad throws.

I saw him miss wide open guys for possible big plays like 3 to 5 times in that game.

8-0 is great. The constant pretending he is more than he is... not great.

Remember when Mac Jones won 8 of 9 games in the middle of his rookie year and the loss was to the Cowboys in OT? The same pretending about his greatness was rampant.

He had a 105.8 rating in those games. He's the next Tom Brady! 🤣 He's 8-13 as a starter since then.

Purdy is a damn good game manager and that's really all San Fran needs. Their offense stalls big time though when their guys don't get yards after catch. Their season as with everyone will be predicated on how healthy they can stay. We have a nice set of rotation going on. I can't say San Fran does the same. Thinking by the end of year being so physical as they are they're going to be pretty banged up.

One thing I love about this team's defense is that they force the other team to also 4 minute drill when down big.

25-3 with 13:28 to play.

4:06 Tampa drive

9:22 Eagles drive.

Game Over

These teams can't do a bunch of 7 step drops looking for 30+ yard passes because the line will kill their QB.

They can't even do a bunch of 5 step drops with 15 yard outs.

The whole argument that his YPC is sope is not looking at the entire picture.

Gainwell got 8 of his 14 carries on the last drive of the game when everyone knew it was a run plays. He still churned out enough to move the sticks and help kill 9 plus minutes.

Brian, it’s Javelina and they are big rodents that look like pigs.

I think the obvious Jonathan Taylor destination has appeared in Cleveland.

With that D he could elevate the run game back to Chubb levels.

I get that all their picks go to Houston but they can work something out.

I don’t care who you are playing (well i guess if it’s Zach Wilson I’m less impressed) that’s ridiculous

100% YPC is a first level stat.  Situations do matter. Its a fair comparison over a season for backs used in a similar way.

I'm not saying that Jamaal Charles was not a special talent but he was helped by the Thomas Jones guys who ran goal line and 3rd and 1 and garbage time.

Priest Holmes in KC was a better player than Charles because he was also the power back.

Robert Smith / Leroy Hoard or Willie Parker / Bettis setups definitely help the #1 guy to get a higher average.

What impresses me about Swift so far is he is getting that 7.9 per carry including a bunch of bust through the line break tackles runs.

Rewatched the game on Condensed Version, particularly looking at our guards. They were both superb. Jurgens really anchors well and is almost Kelce-like in his ability to block in space and on the move. And Dickerson, good googly moogly! What a beast. He's got the kind of power I can only recall seeing in two other guards - Shawn Andrews and Larry Allen.

And they're both 24.

Just now, just relax said:

Every great player in the history of sports needed other players around them and coaches, etc.

Bringing it up is not some deep thought. Its pathetic and boring.

yes,  this is not the first time that someone wants to put the "team game" argument out there.  Yet,  there is a QBrec stat.   If the fans, the people making the arguments on the internet,  needed to go figure out for themselves the record of the QB,  maybe one side would have a stronger argument.  But they don't have to.  There is a QBrec stat right there on the pro football reference page for the QB.

Agree. It's funny with Smith, Brown, and DG that they still need another target, but they do. OZ and QW can't be relied on. Danny Amendola always seems to find a way to get open to move the chains. They don't have that guy who just gets open like that (after Brown and Smith).

Is there a site that tracks how many screen plays go to RBs?

The Eagles ran one yesterday and it feels like the first real screen they've ran to a RB in ages. The majority seem to be bubble screens to WRs.

The screen game should be added more to this arsenal. Especially someone like Swift who's great in space.
