Our O is basically the same, Run D is much better so far.

Love Jalen Carter, but DPOY is going to be Parsons or Garrett. They play so many more snaps.

Fun pop quiz for the board: name the last 2 DTs to win AP DPOY prior to Aaron Donald.

Hint: the more recent one is much easier than the older one

Another hint: you're going to have to go back awhile

They could try Covey for that.   So often,  the slot guy is the short guy,  the more quick than fast guy, the hot route guy,  the guy who gets open quickly, due to quickness.  Typically,  the slot guy is not the blazing downfield guy, not the catching the ball 40-50 yards downfield guy.   Covey just had a great game,  and we could see the agility,  the ability to get around guys.   Make a move,  beat a guy, get a first down.  It seems like Covey can do that.

The Eagles have 2 star WRs and 1 star TE,  and the stars all want their targets, and when the run game is going great,  there aren't all that many targets for the 4th best pass catcher.   Quez,  OZ, Covey.  And Albert O should be the 2nd best TE.  Big and fast and should know the offense well enough pretty soon.

Additionally,  the Eagles have a lot of freakbeast athletes who have done offense stuff on their resume.  They could be used as well.

Yeah, why couldn't he be a Beasley? Why can't they use Allen on some plays from the backfield if he can't get on the field as a WR and is already active? He said he raced Tyreek HIll in HS.

If CMC gets held up at the 2 and Williams comes in and shoves him forward for a score Rich Eisen and the Peter King clown car of imbeciles will all shout from the rooftops about what an awesome play it was and how huge Williams is.

Other teams try the same exact push play and it fails all over the place because their line is not as good and their QB is not as good.

How is the pass defense stack up to last year though?  They played better last night than the first two games but I worry it might be worse than last year.

OK, so I don't go to in person games much.  (And by "much", I mean "ever").  I prefer to watch the NFL from my couch.  I thought it would be fun to get up the Linc to go and watch them beat up on the Commanders this Sunday.

Tickets on StubHub are $249 for standing room only!?

Wow.  Y'all crazy.  Back to my couch I go.  I'll go ahead and buy a bigger TV instead.

Is this normal?  Honestly I don't look that often.  For reference, for the same price I can get very nice end zone seat at FedEx to watch the Eagles play at Washington in a few weeks.

I normally like Rich Eisen but his point making process on here was brutal.  It's impossible to stop if they try and pass.  Then said Eagles tried to pass out of it and got sacked.  Then it's not football when the big guys line up against the other big guys and see who's stronger.

I haven’t been in the area for a few years but that seems ridiculously high. SRO usually would be $100 to $120 for premiere games. Even with inflation that’s way too much to just stand around and probably have a terrible view.

Its a SB team playing their first Sunday home game while they are 3-0 and looking like another SB team.

Its never cheap but this is hype city right now.

DC is also close enough that some of the Random Team Name fans also drive the price up a bit.

Ita so pathetic.  I always liked Eisen so it's disappointing to see him stoop to this.  It's not the Eagles fault they developed a play that they are able to execute better than any other team in the league.  The fact that other teams that have attempted it haven't had the same level of success proves that it isn't this cheap play that needs to be outlawed.

Two Vikings come to mind....John Randal and Alan Page.

If they outlaw it they will just put two 320lb guys at RB and have them lead block to a pair of gaps for similar results.

I'm generally of a mindset where players shouldn't be allowed to push a teammate forward.  I think, however, what is much uglier than the tush push is when a RB or WR catches a short screen, and the OL pushes the pile forward a good 5 yards or more after the defense has stood them up.  Get that out of the game first.

What Rich and a lot of others don't seem to notice is Hurts actually gets pushed on a minority of those plays.  He's moving the pile with lower body strength.  The advantage to the formation is being able to run other formations from it, as a progression.

The simple defensive strategy he's not considering is -- stop his forward progress.  The whistle is supposed to be blown when forward progress is stopped.

"Pop pass to Goedert"... Rich means the guy set up on Jalen's hip (?)... this is not well thought out.

How many teams are doing it - the Eagles just have an exceptional situation which is not "absurd" .

Page is one, and you went way further back than I was going for ha. 1999 and 1997 winners were the last non-Donald DTs.

Not if the mush is 5 guys rushing around the tackle box for QB contain and the RB has gotten to the edge.

Here are a few reasons why the screen is a bad call against a mush rush.

The whole idea of a screen is to get the ball to a receiver with blockers in front of him, right? You call it to slow down a pass rush. But, with a mush rush, the rush is already slowed down, making the screen pointless. Further, with a mush rush, the rushers are holding up the blockers who would otherwise release into a screen. So, no screen. Further, because the rushers are not seeking quick penetration, they are closer to the potential receiver than they would be with an all-out rush. Much easier to get him down. Finally, with a mush rush you're giving the QB time and with time he can look for longer throws.

Yeah.   Core point being that the Eagles shouldn't be looking to add a new WR3.  WR3 isn't really a position.  Over the years and years of the NFL,  slot WR or WR3 has only been a thing recently.  More common is Fullback.

I've been typing this kind of thing a lot.  Versatile freakbeasts and whatnot.  The Eagles have a lot of those guys.  I'd like to see those players on the field,  but the Eagles have a lot of stars as well,  and I'm not going to take the position that the Eagles should remove stars from the field.  So,  the only place you can have something other than the usual is at the WR3/TE2/FB spot, the mystery spot.  Hurts, Brown, Smith, Goedert are generally going to be on the field.  And RBBC or Swift who looks like a star himself.

Man, we must have really thin skin to laugh at weak sauce sports communism arguments where no player is great but the workers are the means of success. 🤡

Oddly some of those same people wax poetically about the value of Siposs holding balls.

Anyone who cries to the mods about anything is thin-skinned…

Assuming you’re calling other posters thin skinned that is… it’s hard to fully comprehend your posts

Jurgens on Vea. :excited:

A still of Jalen Carter being double teamed on the safety has been floating around social media, but I can't find it. Anyone have it to post?

Rewatched the game on Condensed Version, particularly looking at our guards. They were both superb. Jurgens really anchors well and is almost Kelce-like in his ability to block in space and on the move. And Dickerson, good googly moogly! What a beast. He's got the kind of power I can only recall seeing in two other guards - Shawn Andrews and Larry Allen.

And they're both 24.

The biggest compliment I can give Jurgens is you don't notice he is on the field.  It's not a concern - so far anyway.
