May not be a popular opinion, but in hindsight of the win the taunt was worth it

Dude was inconsolable when the position coach came over. Washington’s 1st round pick will have this over him for awhile

It was barely a taunt.  I think the result of play put him there.

The Eagles have faced Sam Howell, Baker Mayfield, Kirk Cousins, and Mac Jones.  Through 4 games, their pass defense:

QB rating against: 99.5 (26th)

Passing yards per game: 260.8 (27th)

Passing TDs: 9 (30th)

This is against the aforementioned QBs, in more than one bad weather game, and with an elite DL to lean on generating several short drops/quick releases.

This is on the short list for worst secondary in the entire NFL.

Reddick/Sweat are going to get ~65% of the snaps , BG playing 35% isn’t a problem… so of the snaps that remain to be allocated (35% or 25-30 snaps) what does Barnett provide that Nolan doesn’t? Pro experience and better size against the run… otherwise not much.

I swear I saw at least one play where Carter was lined up as an end as well

Is it just me or are there a lot more opposing players doing the Eagles flying thing with their arms when they score? Has that always been a thing and I just never noticed?

Have we tried him out as a LB?

In camp... it was a one-off like Bradbury playing nickel, so not completely impossible but seems unlikely.

I've saw Fletch play the strong side DE in a 4-3 front last year - so I wouldn't be surprised.  If they are playing 5T-NT-4i-Edge, it can also have that look to it.

Jobe, Morrow (great game), Cunningham, Blankenship (precocious, playing pretty well, still not a top cover guy), Evans/Edmunds.

Almost half of their starting defense came off the scrap heap.  The depth and talent on the DL is fun, but the defense is just too lopsided in its talent and reliability.

I like to read the ExtremeSkins message board sometimes, and I particularly enjoy reading after we beat them. What I find fascinating at the moment is that their fans seem happier about yesterday’s game than our fans do. Think about that for a moment and see if you can see what’s wrong with that. I think it says a lot about us.

I have friends who last night were just beside themselves with anguish about the victory. It’s insane.

This.  It’s very bad.  It’s going to get ugly here in a few weeks

Solak didn’t think Hurts played well today. Praised Brian Johnson though.

Solak said when the play call works to perfection and a WR gets wide open, Hurts looks good. But any other scenario where the play call doesn’t work or the first read isn’t open, then nothing’s working because Hurts is one read and bail right now and his internal clock is so broken because there are plays where there is pressure that he’s not bailing. And he looks afraid of getting hit. Said he thinks his improvisation aspect is gone right now.

They're teaching Hurts to be a pocket QB, it'll take time for it to become natural, but he has the work ethic to make it work.

The better Hurts become in the pocket, the more plays you can run off him, b/c teams have to respect both the pass and run.

The RO slowed his development as a QB, Johnson is trying to fix that.

I don't see why that is so insane.  The Commanders are an upstart team with limited expectations and hung with a top 3 team in the NFL.  Meanwhile, the Eagles might have had the ugliest win I have ever seen as a fan (I know, I know...a win is a win and I have no idea how bad it used to be).  Besides themselves with anguish is a bit much, but that was the new embodiment of ugly win.

I can buy that.  I do agree the RO slowed him down and he seems to consistently be more effective in the pocket, although there have been some bumps in the road.  There is consistent, linear progress there this year.  He's making more big pure passer plays each week.  He's got mistakes to work on too each week, but I think he's getting there.

Man it's just awful that we are 4-0.

Ok so I just checked... We were at their 28 yard line with 2nd and 4 and 1:49 on the clock. BUT, Washington did have another TO left, so it's not a foregone conclusion that we could've drained the clock and won on a last second FG. If they stop us short on 2nd and 3rd down, we'd be kicking the FG with about 55 seconds left on the clock. And with the way this defense finished the game, that's plenty of time for Howell to drive them into FG range.

I still think Sirianni made a dumb decision to trust the defense, especially given the risk that throwing the ball there incurs, but not as much of a bonehead move as it would've been had WAS not had that last timeout.

I don't have any problem with getting a go ahead TD.  They needed a score to win and they got a score.  The taunting call was dumb and a weak call.  The defense had a 3rd and 17 and let them convert make it a 4th and short.  The defense did not make a stop.

Was it noted here yesterday that both the TD to Brown and Intentional Grounding plays were audibles called at the line?

It seems the media was questioning Sirianni and Johnson for calling those plays, when it was Hurts to changed into them.

Hurts saw heavy boxes and did what he is coached to do, check to the 1v1 on the perimeter.  I'd argue that he should be coached to not do that in certain game situations.

He also seemed to check to an option play where he ran himself so l for a loss of 1 where if he handed it to Swift it looked like a potential long gain.

I can see the writing on the wall honestly but I still expect to be in the playoffs.

Yeah I noticed that too. Need less of those but I do understand that the fact that he'll do it helps Swift on other runs

guy’s like us come from a different era as Eagles fans.

The Eagles have been historically good with limited injuries, so a regression was always going to take place.  And thus we are seeing that happen.

The bigger highlight though is treating some positions as 1 year rentals on limited players - the secondary is showing that mindset right now

Yeah, I was not happy with him keeping it given the way he has been running the ball.  It looked to me Swift was easily getting to the 2nd level.
