I think he's probably on par with Daniel Jones.  He has looked terrible and unable to make throws with any kind of accuracy.

IMO Zach Wilson is comparable to Trey Lance.  They were both extremely raw coming out of college; Wilson had horrible footwork that has never been corrected, and his personality lacks leadership.  Lance had very little game experience and was playing against children -- Niners tried to give him Jimmy G's job before Lance was ready and Jimmy was out the door yet.

Daniel Jones has work ethic and reasonable intellect, just not a whole lot of ability.  He was a zero-star recruit.

I think Baker Mayfield has more physical tools than any of them, but he has a ten cent head and limited leadership ability as well.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting rules, but if you're engaged in the internal part of the pads and face to face isn't that allowed? Or at least usually permitted? Here's the play in question. Seems like the Jets defender lost the rep big time to me.

It's a hold, he's got him outside the shoulders and you can even see the jersey being stretched. Refs call that 9 times out of 10 if they see it.

Not possible… that would require the Cowboys to get past the divisional round. They have not proven capable in just about three decades. I’m not ready to say they are there, yet.  When Dak has to play from behind, he folds.  He would not have won the game for the Eagles yesterday if he was our quarterback.

I hear you... but let's not take the chance.  Let's make them play on the road.

We saw the Eagles deal with Parsons effectively by leaving him unblocked.  I remember seeing Chip run a read-option where he left the DT unblocked.  Just a thought.

Teams have changed their approach to the RO with Hurts. They use a scrape exchange, in which the DE attacks the RB and the LB on that side commits to Hurts. The Bears did it a bunch. Alternatively, they say, well, if you give us a free shot at your QB, we're going to take it.

Yup.  Which is why I remain a staunch opponent to the frequency they have run it.

One obvious progression would be to give the RRO look but dump the ball so basically go back to RPO or RRPO and throw the damn thing in the space where the LB was.  No need to set it up; the Ds are already looking for RRO and charging the LOS anyway. Use AJ on the short quick slant. He seems to catch most of them.

So Hurts throws as he moves toward the LOS.  And maybe you can get roughing call too out of it once in a while.

* The roughing would be contingent on Hurts being able to dump it fast enough, like in his second step.

I don't remember if this was posted yesterday as it happened during the Eagles game but this is one of the funniest pick 6's I've ever seen. Just the way Kirk makes a beeline in a straight line and doesn't even try to get an angle just to get trucked at the end. It's perfect.

Any time we get an opportunity to laugh at that guy I mean I’m just all for it. He’s such a freaking loser. His stats always look so good and yet he’s got such a losers mentality and attitude. In my book he’s an unlikeable guy.

I think Jones has plenty of arm strength and is an above average runner.  He has struggled with his mechanics and his accuracy.  He has fumbled the ball frequently.  He also hasn't been able to throw downfield.  To me, his struggles are similar to Wilson's.

Lance just looks like he doesn't belong starting yet.  He had no poise.  Wilson has started 25 games.

Baker Mayfield reminds me of Jeff George.  He has an arm and is some times accurate.

The solution is to bring motion across the formation to pick up the scraping LB or use a FB.

I also think it's time to end the Bradberry at Nickel experiment. If we can't find someone else whether it's a FA or one of the thousand of corners we kept, then we failed hard in that area.

He kept checking to see if the lane was clear so he could get over only to miss the guy in his blind spot and get sideswiped anyway.

Does anyone care who AR's OC is?  Does anyone care who any of Belichick's coordinators were?  Mcvay's OC?  Shanahan's OC?

I may not have anything good to say about Brian Johnson, but when you have an offense-minded HC who is supposed to be one of the NFL's best and an elite team, you have to expect and deal with a revolving door at OC.  I blame Siri for the design and play-calling issues on offense....BUT....those issues do seem to be sorting themselves out.

I'm much more Concerned with the defensive scheme right now .  It's even worse then last year.

Does anyone else get viscerally annoyed when after a big play, the TV director consistently switches to shots of the opposing players, coaches, owners, rather than letting us watch the celebration?  All we see are unhappy faces.  Rarely is there anything to see.  But we end up missing out on half of the joy.

Record the loser shots and show them later if there anything worth seeing.

I don't think Bradberry was the issue as much as the LBs did not seem to fill any passing lanes and looking slow in coverage. I think Jobe didn't better than it looked.   I am just hoping we can get some depth back at safety and that Dean will help with the pass defense.  I think Dean and Morrow will be an improvement over Cunningham.  Cunningham looks so slow in coverage.

Yep.  The Buddy Ryan approach, I'll give you a couple 10 yard runs in exchange for playing your backup QB the rest of the game.

AR calls the plays.
McVay calls the plays.
Shanahan calls the plays.

Sirianni gave that up midseason in 2021, and they got better.  Steichen was pretty good at it.  Johnson is the new variable, and he's the one calling the plays.  It is quite possible that while Sirianni is from the offensive side of the ball, he's better as a HC than an OC/play caller.  (Even in Indy when he was the OC, Reich called the plays.).   So, I think its safe to say it matters who the OC is.

The scheme is much better up front.  They have communication issues on the back end.

This.  It has been clear since Maddox went down that they need a proven nickel CB/safety.  Get it done Howie!

Injuries. Dean, Maddox, Goodrich, McPhearson, Brown.

That's both decimated the interior of the back 7 and it means communication is a problem right now.
