I saw Dr J at the Palestra when UMass played Penn, back when Penn was really good. He scored I believe, 30 in the first half. The triple-teamed him in the second half and he only scored 10 or so and Penn won. That was back in the ridiculous period when dunking was illegal. He just laid it up, his hand well over the rim. The Rucker League never outlawed dunking.

I would love to have been there to see that game. Not to see Julius, but to watch Penn.

Question for you Xs and Os folks. Slay mentioned on his podcast about not playing press in a 2 minute offense being up 7 because it invites one on one coverage and risk a go ball and getting beat deep. Why can't you still play press while having 2 deep Safeties to help over the top while still rushing 4?

You can. He might just mean Desai prefers cover 1 instead.

Was just coming to post this. That's a big bummer. We need those generation connectors and I feel like he was a great one.

Wasn't alive to watch this era but sure did learn so much about football from highlights, interviews and such. The new game sure is fast and exciting but man, I miss what football once was. It's entertainment now more than it is the game of football.

Great for the time, but it's a good thing football evolved past trying to break a guy's neck from behind on his way to the ground.

With the size, strength, speed at which today's game is played, they are more prone to break a neck on a routine play than what you described. I know that's the sentiment that the game has evolved for safety reasons but you also have to look at the speed. Dick Butkus, for as great as he was, probably couldn't beat Landon Dickerson in a race. The game was so much slower and the collisions that happened play in and play out weren't nearly as violent as they are today.

Actually, it’s PA and NY charging folks to get In isn’t it?  I have no issue with user fees like tolls.  In fact, I am a huge proponent of them as they are an extremely fair way of charging for a governmental service.  But Canada exit taxes bug me because I pay PA’s tolls equally to anyone else using the bridge.  Canada taxes are only for nonresidents.

I don't know how the Delaware River bridge tolls are divvied up, I presume there's some sort of split between NJ & PA. Canada's exit tax sounds similar to some Caribbean country's departure tax. I don't know if residents of those Caribbean countries have to pay the departure tax or not. I guess Canada's thinking is that Canadian citizens pay Canadian taxes, visitors don't but visitors still use Canadian government resources during their stay. Or maybe I'm off base.

Fantasy gurus:

Play or sit Brian Robinson Jr. tonight versus Chicago.

Would mean sitting one of Raheem Mostert or Devon Achane.

Also:

Robinson Jr versus Chicago

Or

Etienne versus Buffalo

As a side note, I hate having to pay a tax to get out of Canada.

So do the Canadians, that's why they are still there.

I kid, I kid.    Though, in all seriousness, that's why the one way toll between PA and NJ has you paying to get back to civilization.  Trying to keep the riff raff in Jersey.

DE 'turnpike' has different toll prices for DE residents versus non-DE residents.  The ironic part is that the 'DE Turnpike' is only about 10 miles or so long in DE... connecting I-95 in PA to I-95 in MD.

They go to the Delaware River Port Authority - a bi-state agency between PA and NJ.

I'm a million miler on both Delta and American, so have seen lots and lots of airports big and small.  I have no problem at all with Atlanta.  The train makes getting to your terminal easy in my opinion.  I agree that LAX is a bear.  I like DIA the most, but it was built from scratch, so it ought to be good.  I also like both SLC and Minneapolis.  Charlotte isn't bad ... better than Phoenix.  The problem that irritates me with PHL is that they don't have TSA Pre in all the terminals, and I do like the convenience of TSA Pre.

For at least 25 years of my career, I probably averaged somewhere in the range of 45-50 business trips a year.  Much less since I retired and I drive if it is an option now.  Sounds like you must have traveled a bunch too.  I recall Ghor and I would be Blogging from hotel rooms all the time.  Hertz and National really miss me.  Hilton doesn’t.  (Yeah, I am the guy in the Diamond parking space and using the better internet for free.)

But I do pay Canadien taxes with my purchases.  That probably is equivalent for what of their services I use.
