I know @ManuManu didn't like the insinuation that Ringo is better, but man how could he be worse?

On the 3rd play, Id really like to see the safeties interchanged. Blankenship was lined up outside the opposite hash and ends up being single high trying to range over to that opposite sideline.

Sydney Brown was creeping up to cover the RB leaking out of the backfield.

Blankenship is fine, but Sydney Brown has even more range and might have actually gotten to that play on time. And obviously, we would all prefer Blankenship playing downhill because he is better than Brown at that.

There's a $255M reason why Desai got "axed" and BJ didn't. BJ is the biggest problem on this team. I'm sure everyone is the FO knows it. But who's going to be the one to neuter Hurt's best friend and destroy the trust relationship between the team and franchise QB?

BJ is the 2nd biggest problem. Right now, Hurts stands out as the biggest problem on the team.

I have a question in general. Last night's game included, but this is not about questioning last nights game.

We know we have this long FG thing working against us.

I feel like there is something similar with this team and PI calls. Is it just because we are biased as fans or is it really, really lopsided how many extremely ticky tack PI, and holding calls go against our CBs vs how often our WRs do not get the call at all on far more egregious infractions?

Last nights game is a clear example of what I mean. The Bradberry call was kind of ridiculous. But even worse when nothing is called for Quez, OR for AJ Brown on the last throw of the game.

And it feels like there are numerous more instances of this bias in every single game.

Definitely a conspiracy.

Everyone keeps complaining about the defense and I get that.  The defense is what it is at this point.  The linebackers are non existent and the secondary is average at best.  That said, I think they are doing what they can based on the talent they have.

The issue is the offense folks! If the offense plays up to their potential (Including Jalen Hurts) they should easily score close to 30 points a game or more - that’s how much talent this offense has.

They need to focus on commanding and controlling the game on offense - keep the defense fresh (The defense actually gets stops when they’re fresh) and off the field as much as possible.  They need to forget about the "big play ball” until it’s given to them.  They need to stop forcing big plays when they’re just not there.  Not to mention, every time this offense comes off the field after a couple of minutes - that just puts the defense right back out there.  It’s a losing formula.

They ran the ball effectively last night and that was a breath of fresh air.  The issues were that after a few good runs they would immediately go back to try to hitting big plays, etc.

They need better play designs on short/intermediate routes - they need to give up WR screens to 170 lb WR’s (Not only do they rarely work, good chance they will get a WR hurt eventually)

The one type of  play that seems to work almost all the time and yet they only run it once or twice are the quick short and intermediate slants and cross plays.  Do they not see that they work?  Why not focus on those?  They typically get at least 6-7 yards and then sometimes can go for good yards with some YAC.

They really need to wake up and wake up soon if they expect to make any sort of run this year.

Thats my 2 cent Monday rant.  🙂

Complaining about the defense is like lining up some bum off the streets against Usain Bolt and then complaining he didn't win a 100M sprint. Like... the defense has been terrible for a long time. We all know it's bad. This team was supposed to be winning with offense.

Is it possible to have a SB hangover and still finish with 11-12 wins?

It's what it feels like.

I mean get some bounces go your way I’m sure you can. Falcons after losing to the pats definitely had a hangover but managed to win 10 games. Bengals won 12 and they got off to a rough start then got on a roll. but even during that roll they played a lot of close games. 2021 chiefs had a early hangover but they were never as dominant as the 2020 team. They won 11 games. I mean there’s been other Super Bowl losers come back and have good seasons but just not be as dominant or as great the following year. There’s a reason in the last 30 years New England with Brady is the only team to get back to the SB after losing it the previous year.

Calling out Hurts has to be in service of getting rid of BJ. Because only one of those problems can be fixed.

If you honestly believe that you’ve got a long 4 years coming because there really isn’t a good out from that contract until ’28 and it comes with a 24m cap hit.

Yah.

Both Blankenship and Brown are better box safeties IMO. Need that 3rd safety to have range and 4.3 speed.

I agree OC can and should get fixed right now. Its overdue.

I just dont agree with calling him the biggest issue at this point. Thats no longer the case. Im not sure it ever was cause Desai probably had him beat most of the year, and now Hurts has him beat.

But yes, lets fix what can be fixed and replace him with Reich. Im all for it.

Yep. You HAVE to figure out a way to work with Hurts.

Pretty much.

For example,  last year’s Chiefs team had a myriad of issues on their defense and yet they still won the Super Bowl because their offense would take over games.

The Eagles need to figure out what the Chiefs did last season and use that as a blue print.

who says Hurts cant recapture his magic?

Hurts has had a rough year especially with the turnovers, but I still put more on Johnson / Sirriani.

We've seen the player Jalen can be with a good OC.

no. Brown is the guy with the speed and Range. He should have been the single high there. If there is ever single high being played, it should always be him. He is like, Taylor Mays fast. Unfortunately tackles like him too. But I want him in deep coverage, always. Thats where hes going to make his plays.

Blank, I dont mind in deep coverage, but play him to his strength. If theres a safety on the field who should be tasked with drifting downhill to blow up a leaking RB in the passing game, it should always be Blankenship. Every single time.

The eagles are backwards in how they do things with their personnel. They have no idea the strengths and weaknesses of their own players. Opposing teams know better than they do and exploit it constantly.

I'm fine giving Brown a ton of reps at FS the rest of the way to see what he can do. We're not going to do that though.

I just dont see how the OC causes the issues Hurts is having. OCs are highly paid positions. It seems below them to have to tell a QB basic things like throw to open WRs.

Relax man.  This is anything but a "Wentz” situation at this point.  If this continues to happen for 1-2 more seasons, then maybe you’d have a point but this is correctable at this point.

And Jalen Hurts is coachable.  That’s the difference.

Wentz didnt suck for 3 seasons in a row here. It got so bad so quick that you didnt need that much time to see it wasnt going to get fixed, and it wasnt just a coordinator issue.

Of course Hurts can regain his magic. Thats exactly what I said in the post you quoted, oddly....

But if said player is as coachable as we all thought, its hard to explain how he has regressed in the first place, and secondly, continued doing the same things all season long, and thirdly, got as bad he he looked last night.

Something tells me coaches have been trying to correct his stupid, frustrating mistakes all season long. And we can see that the coaching is not setting in.

He has a bad case of hero complex, and thats very hard to coach out.

He would have to do this for the rest of the year and next season to officially become black Wentz

I believe we will have a new O coord next season, a real coach

Agreed on Ringo...I also like what I see with Sidney Brown.

What have you liked from Brown other than running the alley?

Offense is a bigger issue due to the talent they have on that side of the ball and where they have invested the most money and resources into. But if like you say we knew the defense was bad and if that was the case then everyone for weeks shouldn’t have been complaining about desai and the defense. should’ve been complaining about the offense throughout and upset that the talent/personnel and the eagles organizational philosophy on defense that has allowed for it to be bad for a long time.

Yep, Id give him another season yet. If its like this, then you pull the plug.

Oh, I don't put it all on the OC, but I just refuse to believe that Hurts has regressed this much from last year to this year. Especially when we see Steichen doing what he's doing in Indy.

Jalen is definitely contributing to the problems, but the coaches absolutely get paid to show him where to go with the ball and to hold him accountable if he doesn't do it in a game.

If we somehow win a playoff game I would call that success after this debacle

This season is lost. Get Bradberry the F off the roster. Him and his betch ass pal DARIUS (the quitter) can get Fed. Start the rookies and Jobe. Hell, start Brown over wasted-trade Byard while we're at it. Time to plan for next year and see if any of these guys can play.
