Sure, it feels like sheet, no doubt.  A three game skid will do that to you but 4-10?  Nah.

They feel like a very flawed division winner / wild card team who won't win more than maybe one playoff game to me.  One that can still very reasonably find a path to the #2 seed thanks to a slew of Ws earlier in the year many of which could have been Ls.

Yeah.  That's how it feels.  No hopes for the playoffs and a bunch of aging vets are going to force a step back next year, not a bunch of ascending young players.   I honestly think I'd rather be the Green Bay Packers, right now.  Feels like they have some sort of future ahead of them.   And for THIS postseason, I'd rather be the Cleveland Browns, even with Joe Freaking Flacco at QB.   Yes, its emotionalism getting the best of me... but that's what this team has done to a perennial optimist.   I can no hope for anything in the postseason, I know a blowout is coming to end the season, the only question left is which team puts it to us.

And, I have virtually no hope for next year.   I expect Kelce to retire, and his backup can't stay healthy.  With Kelce retiring, I question whether Johnson wants to return or not.  Bradberry is terrible, but the contract that Howie handed him ties our hands a bit.   Slay has regressed significantly and is now going public with petulant nonsense rather than focusing on his own issues, and they are forced to bring him back at an exorbitant cost compared to his actual value.   Cox and Graham will be leaving and despite the massive investments at DL, the cupboard behind them is relatively thin.  We have Carter and Davis.  Who knows what will happen with Williams?  Can they afford to bring him back?   Reddick is a year older, and wants more money.   But throwing big money at aging players is what's causing some of this trouble right now and why they couldn't afford decent LBs or another S.  And to top it all off, our QB is regressing while his salary number is rising.

I am just depressed about this team.

Im gonna guess that was due to analytics.

Eagles FO is so entrenched in what the analytics say that it takes the natural instincts out of coaching.

Analytics doesnt take into account the flow of the current game or in game circumstances, its all mathematical which is great if were counting cards in vegas but this isnt black Jack its football and so much about football is feel and counter moves and adjustment none of which analytics takes into account.

Its why you see stupid calls like a run on 3rd and 6 inside the 20 leading to a FG...😒

Its why you see zero blitzes on a 10 pass plays with a 1:30 left.

Analytics have their place in football but to lean so far into the analytics to where it dictates ones whole game plan and execution leads to predictable heartless football...☹️

I forget which pod I heard it on (I think Solak and Kapadia) but they said even before the game Patricia barely bltizes at all.

Master Lock was 4-4 on 3rd and 10+ in this game and had 158.3. I believe Schwartz just cursed the defense when he got fired/left with 3rd and long being our Achilles heel

I'd give anything for his sticks defense right now.   It usually stopped them from converting, even if it did surrender 75-80% of the needed yardage.   At least it didn't surrender 125% of the needed yards.

He technically retired because of "health issues" aka get me the hell out of here in the NFL world.

If i remember he wanted a chance to be the eagles head coach, when that didnt happen he bailed.

Which is sad, hes a better DC than a HC but in cleveland he also isnt bound by the eagles FO analytics that dictate how their coaches call a game.

Watching him in cleveland youd think hes a totally different guy, he blitzes far more and doesnt just rush 4 and drop 7 every play.

Ok, that's a relief that I am just a source and not complicit in any way, @Godfatherneeds to keep a distance.

Yeh, there were some stories that went around back in the day, honestly manufactured by Skip. He worked at the time for the Dallas Herald Banner which was put out of business by the Dallas Morning News. He bounced around and after writing some things attacking Aikman, and Tom Landry, pretty much got himself run out of town...SI just wrote a piece about it this past summer. Skip is a piece of $hit...who thinks people care what he has to say.

Don't drop anything around that guy

We lost a Titans game in 2018 because we gave up a 4th and 15 in OT with bad sticks defense.

I remember that, and that was much more about the defender being completely lost than the call.  He somehow got himself turned around and the throw went right behind him.   I forget who it was.   Definitely a most forgettable S, I think.

You LOVE that dude don’t you? Stop talking to me about your crush. He is only one aspect of The Eagles. smh

4x4 texted me and he wanted me to tell everyone in the blog Merry Christmas

Last night sucked, but there are examples of teams over the years that sucked in Dec only to figure it out when the playoffs started.

It's not likely, but it's not zero chance either.

If this team was competent they would have fixed it by now.

Apparently not more than you. So what did he get his masters degree in?

Well then hes a perfect fit for the eagles organizational philosophy driven by analytics that says play prevent D all game...😒

Having said that not sure whose idea it was to leave bradberry in an island that whole drive.

Thats not bend but dont break thats just break...☹️

The Eagles next DC, I hope it's a veteran guy with experience. Don't have the time to guess who can be the next hot new DC and risk another swing and miss. Dennis Allen, Robert Saleh, Mike Zimmer. Give me someone proven to have coached good defenses before.

Eberflus when he is fired in Chicago.

Corey Graham.

How many of these 11 (12) on defense will be on the roster in 2024?  My guess:

Cox, Graham, Reddick, Sweat

Cunningham, Morrow, Dean

Slay, Bradberry, Maddox, Byard, Blankenship

Slay, Maddox, and Dean IMO should not be starters, but I can't see how the Eagles get away from them in 2024.  That leaves:

EDGE -- Reddick, Sweat, Nolan Smith, ??? (Need a true DE)

DT -- Carter, Davis, Williams, ???

LB -- ????????? (Dean for sure, I guess)

CB -- Slay, ??? (Ricks/Ringo)

S -- Blankenship, Brown, ??? (Draft somebody early Howie, FFS)

Need some better run defenders as well.  Lots of needs on defense, again.  Feels like I say that before every draft.

Cox has had a solid year. I would be ok with him coming back. Not for another 14 mil tho

Schartz was the HC in Detroit when Jim Harbaugh was @SF and acted like an a$$ towards Schwartz after a game right? Just another reason I can't stand Harbaugh...liked him as a player at Indy, but he is a piece of work as a coach.

He was a respected defensive guy, but something about them continuing to reunite the ol Colts band back together just feels icky to me. I want someone out of the Sirianni umbrella mold to bring a different voice here. Maybe that's unfair or short sighted, but that's my feeling right now. I wouldn't be angry if he's the guy they hired either though. Just would feel meh about it.

There you go with the deek again. He'll fumble if he tries throwing a stiff arm

Eberflus coaches a complete 180 from the Fangio scheme, so I'm in.

Odd coming from the school of Bill Belichick.
