The same way Steph Curry influenced an entire generation to take the three from anywhere on the court, I think Mahomes is having a similar impact at the quarterback position. Run around, bail on the pocket, and direct your guys to make some crazy play. It looks cool when it works but it really isn’t good, smart football. Caleb Williams plays a similar way and will drive his coaches crazy with some of the early mistakes he’ll make with it, as great as his potential is. Lamar had a play the other night where he dropped back 20 yards, evaded a sack, and threw a ball up to Isiah Likely for a completion who was double covered. Again, terrible throw decision but bailed out by his receiver.

Josh Allen is tied with Hurts in turnovers playing a similar way. It’s just not a consistent way to play the position, especially for Hurts who doesn’t have the arm drive guys like Allen and Mahomes have.

This style has infected Hurts and it’s having a really bad impact on him and the team. It’s not something he did last year, he was a very good decision maker and smart with the ball. Hurts, when he is at his best, I think plays similar to Purdy and Dak when they’re firing on all cylinders. I don’t need this Mahomes/Allen hero ball/backyard style from him.

Let me just be honest. Mahomes is Farve/Wentz but apex version of them. Similar to how Blankenship is apex Considine style wise, Mahomes is apex Farve. Has the talent and quick thinking to make most of his crazy stuff work combined with one of the best offensive minds in NFL history. There is nothing wrong with trying to copy more traditional QBs like Manning or Brady. I think the issue is that people have different expectations of the more athletic guys and similarly expect them to do more things. It's probably not affecting them directly as much as affecting the expectations of the guys around them.

Look what's happening to the draft and how they're drafting QBs. Less guys at the top who are just accurate and more guys at the top who are moldable specimens. Josh Allen is likely responsible for this too, every coach wants a Allen story.

I'm out of optimism.

Yeah, last night took a lot of of all of us.  Funny though, one play on that last drive and I think the feeling would have been vastly different.  We'd have run the gauntlet at 4-2, won in KC/Seattle where the home advantage is as good as it gets, and be 11-3 and in position to end 14-3 again.

We keep losing games by our own effort. If we can stop running negative screens and turning the ball over we have 2 more wins right now.

negative screens

Those things were horror shows last night

Watch this and not think Sirianni/Brian Johnson are doing a bad job.

It can’t be overstated just how much of a clown show we look like after firing our DC for a dip S like Patricia and letting Drew Lock drive 92 yards to deliver us a third straight loss.

Two teams didn’t want him in two months. Gotta be beyond washed.

Cant wait for Howie to sign him

Did Eagles work him out weeks back or no? Wonder if they'll have interest. Or in Suh.

YES.  But also, Hurts should NEVER have thrown most of those screens.  You can see the guys are covered.  DO SOMETHING ELSE with it.  Stupid AF play and then they perform it so poorly. And then Hurts throws it anyway.  Kill me now.

I said it at halftime -- leave a bad team hanging around in their own stadium and you'll get burned.  Should they have allowed a 92-yard drive with under two minutes left and not even forced them to burn their one timeout?  Heck no.  But .... the Eagles had the ball in hand on offense for two drives in the last 8 minutes and should have drained the clock.  The offense failed, more than the defense IMO.

I think he can give us a hand.

I'm just worried bringing JPP in would set off fireworks in the locker room.

There is something comforting about not having your hopes up anymore and no longer having the pressure of expectations. I'll be watching games now with much less emotional investment. Maybe they'll pleasantly surprise everyone come playoff time out of nowhere and they make a run no one expected.

Well, could be as some of our guys do have a short fuse.

Baldy just completely eviscerating the Eagles on PHLY right now. Just trashing the offense.

It's a real achievement to make these skill players look so ineffective

Still guessing, huh? Why do I have to be from the mean streets? I could be from The Shore and still handle an outlaw with ease.😏

🤔I don’t know why you act like you won’t get lit up in Norfolk though.😂

Apparently Jalen Hurts was nowhere to be found after the game when Drew Lock was looking for him to shake hands.  The camera and mic showed Lock saying "oh, I guess he's sick"

Some on Twitter are trying to make it sound like a swipe at Hurts, but when I hear him it sounds non-demeaning.  Not a good look from Hurts, though.
