Was listening to Marks and Reese talk about how Jalen's sitting on the bench and being stoic is possibly coming back to bite him with the team and performance, especially when he makes comments to the media about the team. I'm sitting here thinking about it more and it's really worrying. Nobody seems to want to approach him and he's not trying to rally the team or talk to his skill players when things are falling apart during the game.

Meh.  Not a ton of players get into the "hoop la!” during games/in the middle of games. (Other than celebrations or a quick let’s go! Type of thing)

During games they are remained focused on the game and/or adjustments.   Maybe some pep talks during halftime in the locker room but typically that’s it.  The reason for this is that you want to avoid disagreements between players on the sidelines (which can easily happen during the heat/momentum) of the game, then losing focus, etc

Case in point.  An opposing team's RB Calling out our plays.  Imagine what DCs and defensive players are seeing.

Yep, say all you want about Hurts not seeing the field well (and he ain't), but this type of ish is why I've been saying BJ needs to go. It's absolute amateur hour when even RBs know what we're doing pre-snap. If he can figure it out, does anyone still think the defenses we've been facing haven't been picking up on some clues? Unreal.

the defense that for most of the year kept them in games

The 29th ranked defense has been keeping us in games? lolwut

The offense needs a similar reset to what they did in 2021 when they went to a more run-oriented offense with Hurts in a game manager role. And it feels like there’s no better time to make that switch now with who the remainder of their opponents are. They basically finish with three straight home games as far as travel, considering week 18 is up the highway in Jersey.

Hurts needs a reset and it’s a similar strategy to what they did last year when he was coming back from the shoulder. Both Giants games and the San Fran NFC title game saw him in a limited role just protecting the football. I want that same formula in these final three games.

There's been some games where they've been devastatingly, historically bad. But I've seen some where the defensive give up didn't happen until late 3rd/4th quarter where the offense had the opportunity to score even just a few points and put the game away.

We are 28th in first half pts allowed.

Looks like someone made the executive decision to get these guys as healthy as possible for the playoffs.

Psh, don't even need Lando for this one... we got Scott

Well alright then.

I'm a believer in complementary football, and I will go so far as saying the dysfunction on offense is making the defense worse than it normally would be.  The Eagles almost had the formula right against SEA; they controlled the ball and controlled the clock to go up 10-0, and it would have been 14-0 without Kelce's screw-up.  Even at 17-10 they converted a long drive and took time off the clock.  The offense completely stalled after that point, and of course the defense could not hold the lead.

IMO if the offense were putting up 30+ consistently as they should, the defense would be 'good enough'.  They haven't been, and haven't been.

@mattwill

Giants 13

Eagles 12

Bonus:  Eagles go for two point conversion to win it, but Hurts trips and is sacked.

Still would love to see the replay as to how his facemask got completely ripped off his helmet. Never understand how the broadcast just ignores things like that.

Giants 23

Eagles 21

Hurts with a fumble

The offensive struggles were almost entirely to blame for what happened against the Seahawks. Not that we really should've needed to shorten the game with a ball control offense against Drew Lock of all people, but putting up only 17 pts just won't win you many games in the modern NFL. That being said, the context of the original comments were referring to the body of work as a whole, not just the Seahawks game, and you'd be hard pressed to find any objectively based reasoning that proves the defense even came close to holding up their end of the bargain this season.

  There's only two teams in the league that avg 30+ a game. This standard you've set for the offense is completely ridiculous. We didn't even score that much last year when we took the league by storm with 28pts per game, which was third in the league (for reference, the Chiefs were ranked first with 29pts per game.)

Not at all.   Remember Albert O and Calcaterra haven't ever caught a pass, but the whole offense is predicated on only have 3 players ever being targetted. .   How Stoll got the ball thrown to him at all is basically a mistake and a breakdown in the process.

Yup.  Put Scott at LG and LET'S GO!!!!  :flex:

Little big man is gonna own them!

A lot of defense is energy and speed.

Nolan Smith, Sydney Brown and Kelee Ringo have that in spades. You need some veterans around them to properly line up and call out formations, but you only need one at each level of the defense. It's why I'm so frustrated with Bradberry. Don't need him AND Byard at this point in the season. Just play Ringo or Ricks.

It's always the anti-vaxxers that don't understand how science works. Even worse, Rodgers/Kirk thought their teams were going to make deep playoff runs😭

Rodgers is such an attention seeker. Go out there and prove to us your miraculous recovery, pal. It’s all we’ve been hearing about the past two months because of what you’ve been pushing.
